2 Course Communications With summertime heat and humidity upon us, our Bent grass greens will begin to experience a period of decline over the next few weeks. Anytime the daily average temperature remains above 80 degrees (i.e. low of 70 and high of 90), the Bent grass simply says, I do not like this. Couple these temperatures with high humidity and the frequent potential for afternoon thunderstorms, and you have the perfect formula for Bent Grass Decline. The most severe summer in recent history was in This was the summer that convinced many courses in our area to convert to Bermuda grass greens. Since Black Creek Club has yet to seriously discuss a conversion to Bermuda our mission each summer is to mitigate the effects of Bent Grass Decline by the use of judicious watering and fertilizing, timely fungicide applications, and frequent topdressing. We also try to open them up by periodically aerifying with very small holes. This process allows air to reach the root system. We just performed this process on June 25 and will do so again at the end of July. Cumulatively, all of these practices help the grass withstand this summer stress. And fortunately, the stress period only lasts 10 to 12 weeks. The two highest scores will be thrown out. The remaining four scores will be averaged together for the official qualifying score.

6 US Open Pool Results Golf News & Events Dougout Results Challenge Cup Saturday, Aug 18th & Sunday, Aug 19th This year s Challenge Cup Matches will be played at Black Creek Club on August 18 and 19. Qualifying officially begins Friday, June 1 and will last until Sunday, July 22. The cost to qualify is $40. Qualifying Guidelines: Play a total of 6 rounds between Friday, June 1 and Sunday, July 22. The two highest scores will be thrown out. The remaining four scores will be averaged together for the official qualifying score. You must play at least 4 qualifying rounds between June 2nd and September 6th or you will be ineligible to qualify. The breakdown of qualifying spots is as following: index, 6 spots, must play Black tees index, 4 spots, must play Blue tees index, 4 spots, must play Blue tees index, 4 spots, must play Gray tees index, 2 spots, must play Gray tees Senior 55-64, index will have 4 spots and must play the Gray tees Seniors 55-64, 7.0+ index will have 2 spots and must play from the Gray tees Super-Seniors 65+ will have 2 spots and must play the Gold tees You must notify the golf shop prior to your round if the round is to count as a qualifying round. You must be playing with other qualifiers and have two signatures on the scorecard when turned into the golf shop. Double bogey is the maximum score per hole The ball must be played down and all putts must be holed.

The goal is to provide each junior with all of the skills they need to get onto the golf course and enjoy the game.

The Academy is designed as a developmental Junior Golf program for all levels of ability. The juniors will learn all parts of the game while engaging in fun training games. The goal is to provide each junior with all of the skills they need to get onto the golf course and enjoy the game. Camp is open to all junior golfers between the ages of 6 and 17 Each junior is welcome to invite up to 2 guests (non-members) To sign up please call the golf shop at A Cost of $175 per junior includes: Four days of instruction, daily contests for prizes, gifts, a Black Creek Club hat, golf balls, and refreshments
