Some like it and some don t. Try not to formulate your opinion quite yet, there are plans for more to happen on the practice range that will also alter its appearance. We are also finalizing contracts for the Men s locker room renovation, so you will likely see some activity in that area as preparation begins for demolition and the construction phase. Please bear with us as this occurs and know that we are trying to make this as painless as possible for everyone during the next few months. Some of you were fortunate enough to get some golfing in during January. That s always a fun bonus. While we won t be able to do much golfing or swimming over the next few months don t forget to keep up with the Club s communications so that you don t miss out on the events, dinners and activities that our management team has in store for us over the winter. Participating in these opportunities offers everyone a chance to keep in touch and have a few laughs with friends during the cold period of the year. If you have the time to come out and enjoy these events, I would highly recommend it to help shake those winter blues. Our committees will begin to meet soon so if you have interest in joining any of these committees please reach out to the committee chairs to express your interest. Although there is no guarantee that you ll be able to get on your favorite committee this year it is important to let them know that you are interested so that they can begin to plan for next year. We will be developing a format for upcoming newsletters so that when committees meet they are able to share some highlights of those meetings with all of the members. The more communication we can get out to all of you the better it is for everyone. This goes back to the survey results from our members and I want you to know that we still haven t forgotten and we are listening. I am very pleased with our progress during this time and the Club has looked fresh during our first few weeks of business in 2017.

3 General Managers Report Dear Members, The South Hills Country Club Staff would like to thank all Members for their patience and understanding during the Club shut-down period during the first two weeks of the New Year as overdue cleaning and maintenance issues were addressed throughout the Clubhouse. I am very pleased with our progress during this time and the Club has looked fresh during our first few weeks of business in The following is partial list of some of the January cleaning projects that were completed: -Striped & Cleaned Grout in both upstairs and downstairs hallway restrooms. -Steamed Cleaned Carpet in entire Clubhouse -Repaired and Painted all walls in entrance and main hallway -Repaired and Painted walls in Ball Room -Cleaned, Polished and buffed all hardwood floors in Ballroom, Whitehall Room & Lounge. -Stripped and re-stained front doors. -Replaced multiple brass handles and kick plates throughout Clubhouse -Installed auto closers on Tavern / Men s Grille door and replaced brass hardware -Cleaned and polished marble floor, woodwork and brass along Men s Grille Bar. -Kitchen deep cleaning (under, around and on top of all equipment). Now, we will once again ask for our Members patience and cooperation as we kickoff the highly discussed and anticipated 2017 Capital Projects early in February. I know the Presidents Letter this month will cover these projects in more detail however I can say that, in the Clubhouse, the Men s Locker Room project will be the first to begin. During this time the Men s Locker Room showers, vanity areas and restrooms will be unavailable to the Members however locker access should be available. Any male Member wishing to shower and use the facilities can utilize the Jr. Locker Room during this time. The Driving Range project is also underway and equipment is likely to spill out into the lower and middle parking lots at times. We will do our best to keep the area organized but please bear with us during construction. Look for updates on the various Capital Projects as more information becomes available and thank you in advance for your understanding and support. There are many great events coming up in February so please take advantage of all the Club has to offer during the Winter Months. Thanks and see you at the Club. 7 The Wine Rack New Trends Around The Club I am glad to see everyone back at the club this early in the season. It keeps the atmosphere alive and well. This month I want to touch on a few new options you have as a member while dining with us. First off we have a new Wine Station in service that I am extremely excited about. So what is it? Simply, the Wine Station allows our staff to serve a very high end glass of wine. As a Sommleier, I want our membership to expand their palate, try new wines, different varietals and understand what makes wine what it is. The Wine Station allows for this to happen. How? With the Wine Station we can preserve a bottle over 3 months in the right conditions because it does not allow oxygen to degrade the wine. So I can put a $100 bottle of wine, that we typically can only sell as a bottle, put it in the Wine Station, keep it fresh and sell it per glass and allow our membership the experience of tasting different high end wines at a reasonable price. We are starting with an all red wine selection but may branch out to white if the station is popular enough. We will also frequently change the wines available so that everyone has a chance to try something different and new. We can serve anything and everything with this station. Maybe even some Petrus? Secondly, we are offering French Press Coffee. If you are a coffee drinker you will appreciate this addition. The service is available ala carte in any of our dining areas around the club. The French Press will be served in the unpressed position so that you, the drinker, can adjust the boldness to your liking. I think this is a very elegant and useful attribute to our continued member dining service. Who knows, maybe we can up the par and add espresso to our coffee options. Feel free to ask Glenn, myself or any of the service staff about these new and exciting options you may take advantage of. I look forward to dining with you. Cheers! I m sure winter isn t over yet, so let s start to THINK SPRING!!! The WGA Board continues to plan for the 2017 Golf Season. We have made some changes that we hope you will enjoy!
