4 FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER May gets started right away with great weather and plenty of activity inside the club and on the course. We will be making a few changes to the Pub menu, if you re looking for something, but not a big meal, take a look, you will be happy you did. Tuesday night s bring back Wing Night, we make them the way you want them. On Saturday May 7 th the Kentucky Derby will be on everyone s mind. In the tradition of the event we will have a Bourbon tasting beginning at 5:30 pm in the DRG as well as featuring special bourbon drinks and derby related food. We are encouraging the ladies to wear their best hats and the men their best outfits. Sunday May 8 th is Mother s Day and we will feature our famous Mother s Day Brunch, treat your Mother to a wonderful day of service with a smile. MARK your calendar for Saturday May 21, ECC s Culinary and service team plan to through an exciting Grand Opening Party for the New Vista Patio starting at 6:30 pm with great food and entertainment. The golf calendar is very full. Between the WGA, Ladies clinics, Demo Days and Swats you should be able to find your game. Also, Twilight Golf is back on Friday May 20 th, what a great way to have some fun with your spouse and friends. May s scheduled hours of operation for the clubhouse dining will be as follows; Tuesday through Friday 11:00 am to 9:00 pm. Saturday and Sunday 10:00 am to 9:00 pm. Around the Club; The fascia on the Ballroom porch was repaired and painted The landscaping off the Vista patio was completed The paving around the back of #18 and #9 green, as well as behind the DRG has been completed The snow board on #1 paddle court has been repaired The repairs on the Paddle Hut have been completed 2 new Fairway mowers have been leased A new intermediate mower has been leased Joe Papalia, General Manager

5 Spring is here and the golf season is officially underway. FROM THE GOLF PRO The 4 th Annual Men's August Invitational will be conducted from August 11 th -13 th. The application and event info will be ed to the membership in mid-late May. The event promises to be three fun filled days of golf, entertainment, and camaraderie. More info to follow soon. The first Twilight Golf of the year will be Friday, May 20 th beginning at 5:00 PM. This night will be played as a 9 hole step aside scramble with drinks available throughout the course. Sign up as a twosome and we will pair you with two others or sign up as a foursome for these fun nights. These are no longer couples events. Groups can consist of 4 men, 4 women, or 2 couples. Configure your group any way you want. The sign up sheet is posted on the bulletin board in the hallway outside of the golf shop. Like last year, ECC will have a Tuesday Evening Ladies Nine Hole Golf League. This league is designed for those Ladies new to the game or women looking to play nine and relax for the evening. This is a very stress free league open to our lady golf and social members. From now through June 30th, it is open to all Ladies members that do not yet have golf privileges. We want you to come out, see the course, enjoy the facility, and build new friendships. There are no tournaments and no contests. Simply come on out and play for just a cart fee. Ladies will be paired in two-somes. You can find a playing partner yourself or simply call the shop and we will pair you accordingly. The first one of these weekly events is May 3 rd. There will be a brief clinic starting at 4:45 PM every week and golf will begin at 5:00 PM. Please contact the Golf Shop with any questions or to sign up. The driving range is open and the hours of operation for the month of May will be 7:30 AM 7:00 PM. The range will open at 7:00 AM on weekends. Golf Lessons are now available. If you have never seen your swing on video before, set up an appointment. Seeing is believing and it will help your game. All of our club fitting carts have arrived. Demo clubs are available to use everyday from Titleist, Cobra, Ping, Taylor Made, and Callaway. The Golf Shop Staff is here to help you. If you have any questions regarding any of the new equipment, please ask. Our official Demo Weekend is set for Friday, May 6 th and Saturday May 7 th. From 4:00-7:00 on Friday come out and see the latest from Ping and Titleist. Then on Saturday from 11:00-3:00, Taylor Made, Cobra, and Callaway will be here to showcase what they have to offer this season. Each company will have a Trackman launch monitor for computerized club fittings. Those appointments must be scheduled in advance by contacting the golf shop directly. Our PGA Professional staff will also be on the range both days to provide guidance and help you when you are trying the new products. As always, I will match any store s advertised price on golf clubs plus allow you to trade in your old clubs to further offset the cost. Prices from Dicks and Golf Galaxy don t scare us. We will match their price plus provide an in depth free custom fitting with an actual PGA Professional and a smile to go with it!!!

6 FROM THE GOLF PRO Finally, I am thrilled to say we will continue our agreement and partnership between Edgewood Country Club and the Omni Bedford Springs Resort. Last year we had many members take advantage of this great opportunity. This deal brings two classic Donald Ross courses together in a member only agreement. Details of the program are listed on the next page of the newsletter. This program will allow our current ECC members discounted rates to stay and/or play at the Omni Bedford Springs Resort. Everyone is always looking for that quick two day getaway. This program will provide a great opportunity for members to get that day or two of relaxation away from Pittsburgh at a world-class facility. Having been there several times myself, I can say it is worth every penny! Programs like these provide yet another reason why ECC is the place to be a member. All reservations will be handled by Pete Micklewright for this program. Please be in touch with any questions promises to be a fun and exciting year.
