2 Manager s Message It s Summer Time!! Our Summer Program is in full swing and we have both returning and new members. It is off to a great start. Once again, we extend a warm Miles Grant welcome to all of our summer members. We have a great season planned to keep everyone busy and enjoying the club. It is a great time to tell your friends and family about Miles Grant and invite them to come join us. May was a very busy month with the Summer Kick-Off and Memorial Day Scrambles, the Kentucky Derby and Mother s Day Brunch as well as a lot of private events. We had strong attendance this year at both the Kentucky Derby and the Mother s Day Brunch. Wednesday Trivia continues to be a favorite for many of our members. Membership at Miles Grant Country Club has its privileges! We have begun our new summer golf reciprocal agreements with Yacht and Country Club, Vero Beach Country Club and the Saint Lucia River Club. Details for these reciprocals are available at the front desk in the Clubhouse. Each club will have a list of eligible members to participate in the program and the reciprocal clubs security gates will be controlling right of entry. So, if you have questions as to whether you have been granted reciprocity, please check with Jill in the MGCC office. Details are posted in the clubhouse. In closing, thank you to everyone for assisting our service staff by presenting membership cards as requested. This helps us to ensure proper charges to your account. 3 Club Progress The Club volunteers have been extremely busy in the last few months, and it's important all our Members are aware and proud of their many accomplishments. The House Committee - has finally finished the new kayak rack and it looks beautiful. We now have 87 units for MGCC Members to store their kayaks. What a wonderful upgrade from our old rack. Bob Shaw, Paul Davidson and his crew, and Bob Stonebridge all helped to make this happen. The Perimeter Road Committee - has replaced the old green fence along the perimeter road adjacent to the 6 th fairway with a beautiful white, stunning fence. It looks great. All the Phases, the Club and Hanson s Landing participate in funding the perimeter road needs and upgrades. The Food & Beverage Committee - just continues to show incredible successes with everything they touch. The Kentucky Derby Party and Summer Kick-Off Scramble were both tremendous successes. And, as I am sure you all know, it was nearly impossible to get a new table at Trivia Night during the season. Cindy Burbine is unstoppable in coordinating all these events with the help of Jo Helen Cobb and the many volunteers who assist her every year with the Kentucky Derby; Jane Coutts with Trivia Nights, and all those who step up to lead the many Social Events throughout the year. Our Social Activities here at Miles Grant are unlimited and what a group we have to organize them all. The Liaison Committee - hosted an extremely successful Meet 'n Greet on April 13 th for all the Board Members and representatives from all the communities that surround our Miles Grant Country Club. They had representatives from Phase 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Country Club Apartments, Hanson's Landing, River Pines, Woodridge and Country Club Cove. Everyone was very excited and pleased with the exchange of ideas shared with one another. The camaraderie shared among these individuals showed great promise for the future of our community. The Marketing Committee - is continually updating the Miles Grant Country Club Web Site with new pictures, Facebook updates, as well as reaching out and introducing our Club to the many organizations throughout Martin County such as: The American Veterans, The Firemen & Police Unions, The Martin County Health System, The YMCA of Stuart, The Hobe Sound & Stuart Chambers of Commerce, and many of our neighboring communities like Rocky Point, Emerald Lakes, Martin's Crossing and others. Though a lot of our Golf & Tennis Members have begun heading north, the Summer Programs are already running 10% ahead of last year s numbers in both people and dollars. The Miles Grant Board - last, but certainly not least, our Miles Grant Board of Directors has initiated a new listing of Memberships and Programs available to all Voting Members and non-voting Members alike. The initial response has been overwhelmingly positive, with a fresh and exciting tone. Many have put in long and intensive hours of evaluation, discussion and sometimes loud aggressive disagreement. However, the outcome was unanimous in understanding, that the programs were necessary and will help lead us into a profitable and successful future for the Club. Signup sheet will be posted a month before the event. Miles Grant Fairway Ladies will host our invitational on Jan. 24, In order to keep on schedule and moving along, please be at your tee box and ready to play prior to your tee time. Play will begin at the assigned tee time. As a courtesy to your fellow players, be aware of your pace of play, so groups behind you aren t waiting. If you are on automatic sign-up and are not going to play, you MUST notify either Brandon or Susan in the Pro Shop and/or cross your name off of the signup sheet. In the event that you need to cancel after you have signed up to play, please call the Pro Shop. We have several summer members this year.
