Race 7: TAB Rewards Handicap 1550m Laszlo travelled keenly during the early and middle stages. ROYAL RANDWICK Saturday 1 September 2018 Race 8: Darley Furious Stakes (Group 2) 1200m Fiesta - Fiesta experienced some difficulty obtaining clear running from the 300m to the 200m. Race 9: Heineken 3 Handicap 1400m Best Guess trainer Mr C Waller reported that he was satisfied with the post-race condition of the gelding and it was his intention to continue with its current racing preparation. KEMBLA GRANGE Saturday 18 August 2018 Race 5: Marco Polo Aged Care Services Benchmark 68 Handicap 1600m Sostenido trainer Mr B Gentle advised that he was satisfied with the post-race condition of the gelding. He indicated that Sostenido has now been sent for a freshen up and he will then continue on with its preparation. NEWCASTLE Saturday 30 June 2018 Race 5: Nelson Bay Bowlo 2YO Maiden Plate 900m Luckier Than El Stewards today continued their inquiry into the death of Luckier Than El which, after competing in the abovementioned event, was found to have sustained an injury to an off-fore sesamoid bone and was subsequently euthanased at trainer D Atkins' stables on Monday 2 July Evidence was taken from Mr Atkins, who provided veterinary and treatment records for the relevant period for Luckier Than El, and Racing NSW Official Veterinarian Dr J Barnes. A report from Mr Atkins' stable veterinarian, Dr M Baltussen, was also tendered, which advised that radiographs taken of the area confirmed the presence of a comminuted mid body fracture of the medial sesamoid bone. Dr Baltussen advised that as surgery and extensive box rest is often not successful in these cases, and even if successful will often lead to chronic arthritis in the fetlock joint, the decision was made to euthanase

2 GOSF 2 Luckier Than El on humane grounds. As the Stewards were satisfied that there was no preexisting injury that may have led or contributed to Luckier Than El fracturing its medial sesamoid bone the inquiry was concluded. RACE 1: Broadwater Insurance Brokers Maiden Plate 1100m Fancy Liquor slow to begin and was then hampered shortly after the start by Mansa Musa. Raced keenly in the middle stages. C Brown was cautioned against the practice of using the whip in an action that raises his arm above shoulder height. Eire s Heir began awkwardly. Trainer Mr S Singleton was interviewed relative to the gelding s near-fore action, which was brought to his attention at its most recent start at Newcastle on 11 August After taking evidence from rider S Guymer and after viewing the official patrol footage, Mr Singleton was told that the footage of its two most recent starts would be forward to Racing NSW Chief Veterinary Officer Dr T Koenig for his and the Stewards consideration relative to its abnormal near-fore action. Old Harbour - raced wide and without cover throughout the event. Pindus inclined to lay in over the final 150m. RACE 2: Boral Timber Maiden Handicap 1200m Aim To Win began awkwardly and made contact with Nordic Lover. Buckle Up Baby slow to begin. Rider T Berry reported that near the 1000m his mount became unbalanced and blundered and as a result lost ground. Clarencetown for some distance approaching the 1000m hung in and shifted in away from Nordic Lover and in doing so crowded the running of Sodality and as a result, when being corrected by its rider, Clarencetown became awkward on the heels of Nordic Lover. Near the 350m was steadied when crowded between Miss Goodnight (A Hyeronimus), which shifted out marginally, and Aim To Win (App. B Ryan), which shifted in when inclined to hang in. Both A Hyeronimus and App. B Ryan were told to exercise more care. In this incident Buckle Up Baby, which was following Clarencetown, was hampered and taken wider. Sodality overraced in the middle stages. Miss Goodnight on straightening was bumped and became unbalanced by Frugal, which was hampered and taken wider by Nordic Lover which, when attempting to improve to the outside of Compactor, was taken out slightly when that runner hung out. Lucky Mission hung out over the final 150m and proved difficult to ride out to the finish. RACE 3: Redeye Constructions Benchmark 64 Handicap 2100m Perpetual Motion missed the start (2L). Le Sacre Blur slow to begin. Lost its off-fore plate in running. Happy Partner rider J Penza dropped his whip passing the 200m. My King s Counsel a post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

3 GOSF 3 RACE 4: Tasman KB Benchmark 64 Handicap 1000m Beside You underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, after the mare had its near-hind leg cast for a short time, and was deemed suitable to race. Slow to begin. Race ungenerously throughout the early and middle stages. Zroya slow to begin. Magnarock raced wide and without cover throughout the event. RACE 5: National Frame & Truss Maiden Plate 1900m Hard Hustler began awkwardly. Jophiel slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn. High Flight hung out for some distance rounding the first turn and in the middle stages. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight and near the 200m had to be steadied and shifted to the inside of Story Of Tong Sai to continue into clear running. Story Of Tong Sai rounding the first turn the gelding, which was overracing, was taken out towards the heels of Fidele s Choice and Bennelong, which hung in. Shadow Of Mordor rider J Grisedale explained that his mount travelled comfortably throughout the event, however, when he attempted to improve his position inside the 600m the gelding did not respond to his riding and was disappointing in its failure to finish the race off. He added in his opinion the gelding did not handle the soft track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Bennelong a post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. RACE 6: Weathertex Maiden Handicap 1000m Mandalong Emperor began awkwardly. Held up rounding the home turn. All The Wine slow to begin. Rambler Rebel slow to begin. Classy Fella raced greenly when placed under pressure over the final 200m. Nobody s Puppet inclined to hang out over the final 150m. Cadencia rider J Ford explained that the mare travelled well in the early stages, however, was under pressure from as far out as the 600m and weakened thereafter. He said that he was not comfortable with the mare s action when placed under pressure and, therefore, desisted from riding it out over the final 200m. Co-trainer Mr P Vigouroux was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Cadencia racing again and he undertook to report back on the immediate racing future of the mare. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

4 GOSF 4 RACE 7: ITI (NSW) Class 2 Handicap 1200m Bill N Ted the colt was a late withdrawal on veterinary advice at 4.34pm after it took charge of its rider in the preliminary. The Stewards ruled that all monies invested on Bill N Ted be refunded in full and that all successful wagers made prior to 4.34pm be subject to the following deductions in the face value of each ticket: 1 st Mandalong Tapit 14 cents win 19 cents place 2 nd Emperor Harada 17 cents place Mandalong Tapit slow to begin. Miss Gigi the mare, which was fractious in the barriers, began awkwardly. Military Machine when questioned regarding the performance, rider T Berry explained that his mount travelled well in the lead throughout the event, however, when he attempted to improve near the 350m the gelding was quickly under pressure and commenced to weaken noticeably thereafter. He said, as he had concerns with its action, he desisted from riding his mount out from the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Stable representative Ms M King was told that the gelding would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again. RACE 8: Walker Bros Timber & Building Supplies Conditional Benchmark 70 Handicap 1600m Tinker Dan began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Appoint Percy raced wide and without cover throughout the event. Backhouse Billy hampered near the 200m when Tinker Dan shifted in. Triple Choice held up for some distance making the home turn and in the early part of the straight hung in. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
