Worrad SUPPLEMENTARY STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTS Casino Racing Club, CASINO RACECOURSE, Friday 7 th February 2014 Licensed trainer Mrs D. Cheetham was found guilty of a charge of improper conduct, under AR175(q), in that on the morning of Wednesday 22 nd January 2014 she did direct words towards licensed trainer Mr P. Stanley that were of a threatening nature. Mrs Cheetham was fined $300. Further, Mrs Cheetham was found guilty of a charge of failing to follow a stewards direction, under AR175(p), in that she did continually interrupt stewards proceedings when formally directed to cease such practice. Mrs Cheetham was issued a reprimand. Ballina Jockey Club, BALLINA RACECOURSE, Sunday 19 th January 2014 Race 8: Benchmark 60 Handicap 1000m Licensed trainer Mr J. Nikolic pleaded guilty to a charge of a breach of AR135A in that he did fail to notify the stewards that he did arrange with jockey Ms E. Kehoe to ride Feeling Naughty with the intention of settling the mare in a handy position as opposed to a position at the tail of the field as the mare had settled at its most recent starts. Mr Nikolic was fined $500. Mr Nikolic advised stewards in future Feeling Naughty would be ridden with the intention of settling in a position behind the speed if possible. Further, Mr Nikolic pleaded guilty to a charge of a breach of AR140(c) in that subsequent to Feeling Naughty competing at the Beaudesert Race Club race meeting on Tuesday 19 th November 2013 and prior to acceptance time for the Ballina Jockey Club race meeting on Sunday 19 th January 2014, he did fail to report a condition that may have affected or impacted the performance of Feeling Naughty in the Beaudesert race. Such condition being back and pelvic pain which upon chiropractic diagnosis was found to be due to pinched sciatic nerves. Mr Nikolic was fined $400.

2 General: As G. Colless and L. Rolls were injured and J. Morris was ill, stewards permitted the following rider changes. Race Rider (Horse) 2 T. Treichel (Forfame) 3 R. Spokes (She s Delightful) 5 Ms P. Schmidt (Effective), Ms S. Drake (My Maserati) 6 C. Whiteley (Rialio) 7 C. Small (Destiny s Lass), T. Treichel (Trapunto) G. Colless, L. Rolls and J. Morris were all advised that they will require a doctor s clearance prior to their next race ride. Race 1: Maiden Plate 1000m Rookie Error shifted out abruptly on jumping. Monet Shot began very awkwardly. Who s That Dragon, Ride em Cowgirl and Star for Sharyn were slow to begin. Monet Shot and Air Speed bumped heavily shortly after the start. Air Speed ran out rounding the first turn and carried Ride em Cowgirl wider. Approaching the 400m Monet Shot was eased after improving onto the heels of Winfrey. Monet Shot was unable to improve rounding the home turn when held up on the heels of Gizmo. At the entrance to the straight Star for Sharyn was unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarter by Monet Shot. Air Speed shifted out rounding the home turn and carried Ride em Cowgirl wider. Star for Sharyn shifted in under pressure approaching the 50m. Close to the finish line Who s that Dragon was eased from the heels of Monet Shot which shifted out under pressure at that point. Race 2: Maiden Handicap 1250m Trainer Mr T. McCarthy was fined $100 for failing to correctly apply gear to African Rose (AR140A(2)). African Rose was declared a late scratching, by order of stewards, at 1.47pm after the filly kicked out in the barriers and upon veterinary examination was found to be mildly lame in the near hind leg. Stewards ordered that all wagers on African Rose be refunded and that all successful wagers placed with bookmakers prior to 1.47pm be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket, 0 cents the win and 2 cents the placed for 1 st (Raja Misha al), 4 cents the place for 2 nd (Armida) and 3 cents the place for 3 rd (Forfame). A pre race veterinary examination of Forfame, which was fractious in the barriers, passed the filly fit to race. Trainer Mr L. Kelly will be interviewed regarding the barrier manners of Forefame at a date to be fixed. My Move reared as the start was affected, lost significant ground (~15L) and took no competitive part in the event. Trainer Mr B. Bellamy was advised that My Move is required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next race start. Correct Change overraced in the early and

3 middle stages. Approaching the 900m Croissants was steadied and carried very wide on the track by Glitz which shifted out abruptly when checked severely from the heels of Raja Misha al after being carried out by Kawana Kaos which ran out abruptly after being eased away from the heels of Willowvale Lad which, whilst overracing, shifted in and bumped the running rail becoming severely unbalanced. Shortly after, Armida lost ground after it clipped the heels of Kawana Kaos which continued to race ungenerously and shifted in abruptly. Forfame, which was following, was steadied to avoid the heels of Armida. Race 3: Class 1 & Maiden Plate 1900m Trainer Mr D. Bowen was fined $100 for failing to correctly apply gear to Enabling (AR140A(2)). Prior to the declaration of correct weight stewards considered an objection lodged by jockey C. Small, rider of second placegetter Persian Book, against She s Delightful being declared the winner of the event alleging interference over the 100m. After taking evidence from all relevant parties and viewing official video footage stewards were of the opinion that passing the 100m She s Delightful commenced to shift out under pressure and over the concluding stages made minor contact with Persian Book restricting its riders whip action. As the stewards were not comfortably satisfied that had the interference not occurred Persian Book would have beaten She s Delightful to the finish line, the objection was dismissed and correct weight declared. Hippodamia began awkwardly. Loves to Cha Cha shifted in and hampered Burn And Turn on jumping. Real Playboy and She s Delightful overraced approaching and passing the winning post on the first occasion. Kahaani overraced in the middle stages. Approaching the 1000m Hippodamia was steadied after improving onto the heels of She s Delightful. Shortly after, Mustaphared was checked after improving into insufficient racing room inside Hippodamia. Shortly after straightening Hippodamia was eased when tightened for room between Romanarkus and Enabling. Approaching the 200m Hippodamia was steadied after it laid out onto the heels of Enabling. Race 4: Class 1 & Maiden Plate 1900m Rundle Heights was slow to begin (~4L). Trainer Ms K. Purdy was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of Rundle Heights. Ken s Rose and Burning Sails began awkwardly. Baltoro and Masonwells overraced in the early stages. Isis Flyer overraced rounding the first turn, ran out and carried Ken s Rose wider. Passing the 1000m Grubbs (NZ) was steadied after improving onto the heels of Masonwells. Fairway Close, which was following, was checked after improving onto the heels of Grubbs (NZ). Near the 400m Isis Flyer was eased from the heels of Burning Sails which laid out at that point. Isis Flyer raced wide throughout. Trainer Mrs D. Cheetham was advised that Shannonmoss, which was beaten 28L, must barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next race start to prove its competitiveness. Race 5: Class 2 Handicap 1300m

4 Best of My Love hung out rounding the first turn. Dictatorship overraced rounding the first turn and near the 900m was steadied after improving onto the heels of Extra. Same As George raced wide throughout and shifted in abruptly over the concluding stages. Dictatorship shifted in abruptly passing the 200m. Extra was inclined to lay in under pressure down the straight and proved difficult to ride with full vigour. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on Tiana, in particular settling at the rear of the field as opposed to a forward position as the filly typically settles, apprentice Ms J. Johnson stated that she had intended to ride Tiana behind the speed today however her mount did not show its normal gate speed and the runners to her inside were quickly in advance of her mount. Ms Johnson added that she was reluctant to ride Tiana along with vigour in the early stages as she was of the opinion that her mount would be caught wide. Ms Johnson stated that in the early stages she allowed Tiana to work forward under its own pressure with the hope of obtaining a midfield position with cover however she was unable to do so and consequently was required to restrain her mount passing the 1000m to obtain cover at the rear of the field. Ms Johnson s explanation was accepted. A post race veterinary examination of Tiana did not reveal any abnormalities. Race 6: Class 3 Handicap 1000m Daily Planet (NZ) and Can t Find Him were checked and Clasped was steadied when all runners were tightened for room between Black Passion and Beau Lake which shifted in abruptly on jumping. Beau Lake bounded approaching the 400m. Kimsha ran out passing the 400m. Can t Find Him ran wide rounding the home turn. Approaching the 200m Beau Lake was checked after it laid in and became awkwardly placed on the heels of Frozen Crest which shifted out slightly at that point. A post race veterinary examination of Rialio did not reveal any abnormality. Race 7: Benchmark 50 Handicap 1400m Hebron Road began awkwardly. Kyspeil was slow to begin. Shortly after the start Trapunto was steadied when tightened for room between Haslington (NZ) and Prince Zaim which was carried out by Hebron Road which was carried out by Destiny s Lass which laid out despite the efforts of its rider. Trapunto and Kyspeil overraced approaching the first turn. Destiny s Lass hung out rounding the first turn. Approaching the 400m Trapunto was steadied after improving onto the heels of Miss Meena. Prince Zaim, which was following, was steadied to avoid the heels of Trapunto. Ita Wahine raced wide throughout. Trainer Mr S. Phelps advised stewards that Destiny s Lass had been galloped on the off hind leg during the event. Race 8: Benchmark 60 Handicap 1250m Feeling Naughty and Blooded were slow to begin. Strada Hill and Feeling Naughty bumped rounding the home turn. Blooded was unable to improve between the 150m and 100m when held up on the heels of French Command. A post race veterinary examination of Feeling Naughty revealed the mare to be

5 showing signs of tying up and to have a restricted action through the hindquarters. Trainer Mr J. Nikolic advised stewards in the days subsequent that Feeling Naughty was showing signs of tying up and he would provide the results of a blood enzyme test and also seek chiropractic treatment for the mare. SWABS: Swab samples were taken from all winners and Rookie Error.
