Friend SUPPLEMENTARY STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORT Coffs Harbour Racing Club, COFFS HARBOUR RACECOURSE, Sunday 25 June 2017 Race 2: Maiden Handicap 1215m: Happy Feet - Trainer Mr T. Edmonds was fined $200 for failing to report the filly had undergone throat surgery since its previous start (AR140(a)(ii)(a)). In assessing penalty stewards appreciated Mr Edmonds had trialled the mare on two occasions subsequent to the surgery (AR140(a)(ii)(a)). Kempsey Racing Club, KEMPSEY RACECOURSE, Friday 30 June 2017 Race 5: Benchmark 55 Handicap 1450m: Fastquest (IRE) Trainer Mr V. Jones was fined $50 for failing to declare A. Gibbons as the rider of the gelding by the prescribed time (LR35). In assessing penalty stewards appreciated Mr Jones has never offended under this rule previously. RACE 1: Class 1 & Maiden Plate 2215m: Chippawa Passing the 500m was steadied after improving onto heels. Passing the 300m was unable to improve for a number of strides when awkwardly placed inside heels. Frisco Albert Rounding the first turn was steadied and shifted out abruptly after improving onto heels. Overraced from this point to the 1700m. Raced wide in the middle stages. Inclined to lay out down the straight. Jeewan Near the 1000m was steadied after improving onto heels. Swinging Passing the 2100m, overraced fiercely when being restrained after improving onto heels. Inclined to overrace from this point to the 1200m. Steadied after improving onto heels near the 1500m. 1

2 The Weald Unable to improve between the 600m and 500m when held up on heels. Passing the 300m was hampered and carried inwards. Near the 200m was obliged to shift out around heels to continue to improve. Whakatane (NZ) Passing the 1600m was steadied after improving onto heels. RACE 2: Maiden Handicap 1106m: Essemess Inclined to overrace in the early stages. Buffeted approaching the 900m. Overraced whilst being restrained to find cover near the 800m. Inclined to lay in at the entrance to the straight. Landsdowne Lass (NZ) Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Latitude Raced wide in the early stages. A post race veterinary examination of the mare did not reveal any abnormality. Mustaknown Shifted out under pressure over the final 100m. One Piece Slow to begin. Inclined to overrace in the early stages. Inclined to hang out approaching and rounding the home turn. Run Jack Run Began awkwardly. Inclined to overrace in the middle stages. Valley Royal Trainer Mr K. Lantry was fined $100 for failing to declare B. Looker as the rider of the gelding by the prescribed time (LR35). Slow to begin. Raced wide, and inclined to overrace, in the early and middle stages. Passing the 200m was momentarily hampered. Vivid Pink Inclined to overrace in the middle stages. When questioned regarding the performance of the filly jockey M. McGuren stated that he anticipated settling in a prominent position however the tempo of the event in the early stages was strong and his mount settled midfield. M. McGuren added that his mount was obliged to race three wide throughout the event however enjoyed cover. M. McGuren stated that at the entrance to the straight his mount became unbalanced when it bumped another runner on a number of occasions whilst obtaining clear running however once balanced up approaching the 200m it failed to let down strongly and in his opinion was disappointing in its run to the line. When questioned, foreman Mr T. McIntosh stated that he is of the opinion the filly would appreciate the addition of blinkers and a step up in distance to help it establish a more prominent position and travel throughout the event. RACE 3: Maiden Handicap 1106m: Devious Passing the 300m was eased and obliged to shift in around the heels of General Nelson which shifted out when insufficiently clear. Jockey B. Looker (General Nelson) was issued a reprimand (AR137(a)). Near the 150m was obliged to shift out around heels to continue to improve. Approaching the 100m and near the 50m was eased when awkwardly placed on heels. Dexter Dutton Raced wide in the early and middle stages. 2

3 Dubawi Sniper Inclined to hang out down the straight. General Nelson Passing the 500m was steadied after improving onto heels. At the entrance to the straight was obliged to shift out around heels to continue to improve. Izabelared Steadied when tightened between runners on jumping. Kawana Kylie Overraced in the early stages. Midweek Hussler Passing the 100m was obliged to shift in around heels to continue to improve. Miss Sminker As M. Bennett was overweight stewards permitted B. El-Issa to replace him as the rider of the filly. M. Bennett was fined $200 (AR120(b)). Passing the 500m was steadied after improving onto heels. Princess Devine Passing the 100m was steadied from the heels of Midweek Hussler which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey M. McGuren (Midweek Hussler) was issued a reprimand (AR137(a)). Vida Playa Near the 800m was eased when awkwardly placed on heels. A post race veterinary examination of the mare revealed it to have bled from the near side nostril, to have respiratory distress and a poor recovery rate. Trainer Ms J. Hardy was advised that prior to its next race start the mare is required to gallop 1000m in the presence of a steward (AR53A) and after such gallop is required to undergo an endoscopic examination. RACE 4: Class 1 Handicap 1006m: Accede Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Carried wider near the 250m. When questioned, trainer Mr J. Jarvis stated in hindsight he may have had the filly underdone for todays event as he had limited its work since it last start run on a heavy track. Mr Jarvis added that he would step the filly up in distance next start in the hope it can settle further forward. A post race veterinary examination of the filly revealed it to have a poor recovery rate. Djerassi Carried wider near the 250m. Don t Remember Bumped shortly after straightening. Hampered passing the 250m. Eat the Rich Buffeted between runners on jumping. Passing the 500m became held up on heels and was unable to improve until obtaining clear running on straightening. Five Spices Passing the 900m was eased when tightened for room. Impregnable Slow to begin (2L). Inclined to overrace in the middle stages. Rounding the home turn became held up on heels and was unable to improve until shifting out into clear running near the 250m. 3

4 Jameslea World Inclined to hang out in the early and middle stages. Super Cooper Bumped on jumping. Bumped at the entrance to the straight. Laid in under pressure down the straight. Trainer s Pocket Bumped on jumping. Eased when tightened for room near the 800m. Carried wider near the 250m. A post race veterinary examination of the mare did not reveal any abnormality. RACE 5: Maiden Plate 1410m: Blake Street Raced wide in the early and middle stages. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormality. Dorwain Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. I Too Can Dance Steadied when awkwardly placed on heels rounding the first turn. Inclined to overrace in the middle stages. Liberty Pearl Passing the 600m became held up on heels and was unable to improve until obtaining clear running rounding the home turn. Approaching the 200m was eased when racing in restricted room and obliged to shift out around heels to continue to improve. My Little Lady Approaching the first turn was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of We re All Ears which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey K. Matheson was issued a reprimand (AR137(a)). Unable to improve rounding the home turn when held up on heels. Nature Train As jockey C. Franklin was overweight stewards permitted J. Taylor to replace him as the rider of the filly. C. Franklin was fined $200 (AR120(b)). A post race veterinary examination of the filly, which was beaten 23.67L, did not reveal any abnormality. Trainer Mr E. Ensby was advised that a warning would be placed on the competitiveness of the filly. Real Hype Eased after improving onto heels rounding the first turn. Laid in down the straight and proved difficult to ride with full vigour. Terrorfilo Slow to begin and hampered shortly after. Unable to improve between the 600m and 500m when held up on heels. Approaching the 300m became held up on heels and was unable to be fully tested until passing the 200m. Valley Crossing Slow to begin. Steadied after improving onto heels rounding the first turn. RACE 6: Benchmark 55 Handicap 1410m: Bingo Bobby Raced wide in the early stages. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer Mrs S. Pepper was advised that the gelding requires a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to its next race start. 4

5 Charles the Third A post race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormality. Clipaholic Eased after improving onto heels rounding the home turn. Shortly after straightening improved onto heels and was continually steadied until shifting out passing the 200m into clear running. Color Purple Rounding the home turn was continually steadied after improving onto heels. At the entrance to the straight became held up on heels and was unable to be fully tested until shifting out into clear running approaching the 200m. Fashion Stage Eased when tightened for room approaching the first turn. At the entrance to the straight was obliged to shift out around heels to continue to improve. Jazzy Ruler Shifted out and bumped another runner at the entrance to the straight. Lighthouse Keeper Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages. Eased from heels at the entrance to the straight. London Lady Approaching the 500m became held up on heels and was unable to be fully tested until obtaining clear running passing the 200m. Mexican Mountain Bumped at the entrance to the straight. My Boy Louie At the entrance to the straight was steadied from the heels of Fashion Stage which shifted out when insufficiently clear. Jockey M. Paget (Fashion Stage) was issued a reprimand (AR137(a)). Wig Wam Bam Eased when awkwardly placed inside heels rounding the first turn. Zombie Queen Began awkwardly. RACE 7: South Grafton Cup 1610m: Anton Ev Avant Steadied when tightened between runners on jumping. Carry On Jake Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Cheval Le Vent Approaching the 1400m resented being restrained, took charge of its rider, commenced to race erratically and ran in across the running of Neurum Road which was checked, clipped the geldings heels, blundered and tightened Mishani Warrior which was checked and tightened Malleable which was bumped heavily on the hindquarter and severely unbalanced. Continued to race fiercely to the 600m. Trainer Mr M. Wilson was advised that gelding is required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next race start to prove its tractability. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it to have a laceration to the off fore cannon. 5

6 Darci s Affair (NZ) Passing the 1400m was obliged to shift in abruptly to avoid heels. Inclined to overrace between the 1200m and 1000m. Egyptian Ruler Rounding the home turn became held up on heels and was unable to improve until obtaining clear running shortly after straightening. Kasharn Eased when tightened for room passing the 1400m. Liberty Island Rounding the home turn was steadied for a number of strides after improving onto heels. Malleable Approaching the 1400m was unbalanced when bumped heavily on the hindquarter. Mishani Warrior Approaching the 1400m was checked when tightened for room. Unable to improve rounding the home turn when held up on heels and shortly after straightening was steadied after improving onto heels. Unable to be tested from this point to the 100m when held up on heels. Neurum Road Approaching the 1400m was checked, clipped heels and blundered resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced. She Tells Lies Slow to begin. RACE 8: Benchmark 55 Handicap 1610m: Destiny s General Shortly after the start jockey M. McGuren was dislodged from his mount after it was bumped outwards by Below the Belt, clipped the heels of Ponzi and blundered. M. McGuren suffered no apparent injury. Immortal Miss Eased when tightened between runners shortly after the start. Madam Kate Unable to improve rounding the home turn when held up on heels. Ponzi Raced wide in the early stages. Stanley Slow to begin. Tilbury Lodge Raced wide in the middle stages. Yulong Baohu Trainer Mr A. Kehoe was fined $100 for failing to declare M. Bennett as the rider of the filly by the prescribed time (LR35). SWABS: Swab samples were taken from all winners, The Skrill, Latitude, Darci s Affair, Egyptian Ruler, Carry On Jake, Cheval Le Vent, Kasharn and Tatoosh. WHIP OFFENCES: Stewards noted the following riders exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m under AR137A(5)(a)(ii)). 6
