A. Holloway (Chairman), T. S. Saladine, D. R. Smith & F. C. Worrad SUPPLEMENTARY STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORT Clarence River Jockey Club, GRAFTON RACECOURSE RACE 8: Benchmark 55 Handicap 1420m L. Rolls (Bella Girl) was fined $300 for using his whip in a forehand manner on 5 additional occasions to the 5 permitted prior to the 100m (AR137A(5)(a)(2)). RACE 1: Maiden Handicap 1606m Wonderful Diamonds bounded on jumping. Thunder Set began awkwardly and hampered Isinbayeva. Thunder Set raced wide throughout. Near the 800m La Niche was steadied after improving onto the heels of Wonderful Diamonds. Cajun Count blundered shortly after straightening. RACE 2: Maiden Plate 1206m Trainer Mr L. Richardson was fined $50 for the late declaration of apprentice Ms P. Schmidt as the rider of Illuminism (LR35). Trainer Mr S. Everson was fined $50 for the late declaration of M. Paget as the rider of Aussiedoll (LR35). Best Of My Love was declared a late scratching by order of stewards, acting on veterinary advice, at 12.23pm after the mare shifted the plate on its near hind leg and punctured the sole of its foot. Stewards ordered that all wagers on Best Of My Love be refunded and that all successful wagers placed with bookmakers prior to 12.23pm be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket, 0 cents the win and 5 cents the place for 1 st (Doctor Bones), 5 cents the place for 2 nd (Primed to Win) and 3 cents the place for 3 rd (Flying Kistena). Cadillac Jack shifted out on jumping and hung out severely during the early and middle stages before being retired from the event. Trainer Mr S. Beetson was advised that Cadillac Jack must barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next race start. Flying Kistena was slow to begin and hampered shortly after by Aussiedoll which began awkwardly and shifted out. The Last Jugah shifted out on jumping and bumped Nymboi which shifted out and bumped Star Pass. Shortly after the start Lusharoonie shifted out and bumped the hindquarter of Primed to Win which was unbalanced. The Last Jugah was inclined to overrace in the middle stages. Passing the 500m Aussiedoll was eased after it improved into insufficient racing room between Primed to Win and The Last Jugah. Apprentice Ms K. Stanley (Doctor Bones) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, under AR137(a), in that approaching the 1000m she permitted her

2 mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of Primed to Win which was carried in onto the running of Lusharoonie which was checked and lost its rightful running. K. Stanley s license to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Saturday 27 April 2013 and to expire on Saturday 4 May 2013 on which day she may ride. Trainer Mr N. Godbolt reported to stewards that Flying Kistena lost its off fore plate in running. A post race veterinary examination of Lusharoonie revealed the mare to have a poor post race recovery. RACE 3: Class 3 Handicap 1206m As apprentice Ms K. Furness was injured stewards permitted M. Haley to replace her as the rider of After Baron. Little Monee and Speed of Dark began awkwardly. Grey Emperor was slow to begin. Approaching the 1000m Emperor Albert was steadied when momentarily tightened for room by Grey Emperor which laid in despite the efforts of it s rider at that point. Passing the 1000m Little Monee was steadied after it laid out and became awkwardly placed on the heels of When My Baby (NZ). Little Monee was unable to be tested over the final 50m when disappointed for a run between Wiangaree and After Baron. RACE 4: Class 1 Handicap 1006m Trainer Mr P. Smith was fined $50 for the late declaration of J. Taylor as the rider of Change Our World (LR35). Ferocious Diva was slow to begin. Miss Caitlyn began awkwardly and bumped heavily with Our Flair. Lady Vuvuzela began awkwardly. Yo Ferdinand began awkwardly and hampered Gunfire Point. Lady Vuvuzela overraced in the early stages. Approaching the 800m Friday Example was steadied after it improved onto the heels of Kyamba s Destiny. Over the final 150m Gunfire Point shifted out under pressure and carried Yo Ferdinand wider on the track, bumping that runner on two occasions. RACE 5: Class 1 Handicap 1006m Aimalac Burra was slow to begin. Blinkin Funny began awkwardly. Spanish Smile was slow to begin and hampered shortly after by Nut Flush which shifted in. Freerocker blundered on jumping. Approaching the 600m Blinkin Funny was steadied after it improved onto the heels of Freerocker, shifted out and bumped the hindquarter of Spanish Smile which became unbalanced. Frozen Quest was inclined to overrace in the middle stages. When questioned regarding the performance of Aimalac Burra jockey N. Thomas stated that his mount was inclined to lay in throughout the early and middle stages before it hung in severely down the straight and proved very difficult to ride. N. Thomas added that he was obliged to cease riding the gelding out in full over the final 100m so as to prevent it from shifting in and hampering runners to its inside. Lil Tricky was hampered by Aimalac Burra near the 200m and again at the 100m. A post race veterinary examination of Aimalac Burra did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr P. Cunningham was advised that Aimalac Burra must barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next race start. Further, Mr Cunningham was advised that stewards will monitor the off fore action of Aimalac Burra in future as it was inclined to throw that leg out significantly over the final 200m. RACE 6 Class 2 Handicap 1406m As A. Pattillo was incorrectly engaged stewards permitted N. Thomas to replace him as the rider of Stratums Express. Ambivalent and You re Mine were declared late

3 scratchings by order of stewards, acting on veterinary advice, at 2.02pm after the Ambivalent was found to be mildly lame in the near fore leg and You re Mine kicked out in the day stalls, striking its off hind hock and was found to be mildly lame in that leg. Retirement was slow to begin. Retrial (GB) blundered on jumping. Malone and Placid Host bumped on jumping. Shortly after the start Retrial (GB) shifted out and hampered Malone. Approaching the 200m Wind of Dubai shifted out and bumped Retirement before that runner laid in and bumped Wind of Dubai. Passing the 200m Retrial (GB) was momentarily eased from the heels of Grand Bandito which shifted in under pressure at that point. Retirement laid in under pressure over the final 200m. When questioned regarding the performance of Retrial (GB) trainer Mr Godbolt stated that the gelding raced in a position no closer than 3 wide throughout the entire event. Mr Godbolt added that it was Retrial s (GB) first attempt over 1400m and in his opinion the gelding may not have run out the distance. A post race veterinary examination of Retrial (GB) did not reveal any abnormality. RACE 7: Class 2 Handicap 1406m Oh He Will Go was slow to begin. Rena shifted out on jumping and bumped Saucier. Lady Tantrum and Single Spirit bumped on jumping. Upon return to scale J. Taylor (Just Zam) advised stewards that approaching the 200m, whilst using his whip in a backhand manner in his left hand, he felt a sharp pain in his left shoulder resulting in him having very restricted movement of his left arm and consequently he was unable to ride his mount out with full vigour for the remainder of the race. J. Taylor was subsequently stood down from his remaining riding engagements and advised that he will required a doctor certificate passing him fit to ride prior to his next race ride. When questioned regarding the performance of Newbold Reine jockey R. Spokes stated his mount led the event, consistent with its normal racing pattern, and travelled comfortably in the early and middle stages. R. Spokes stated that Newbold Reine failed to respond to pressure on straightening and weakened noticeably in its run to the line. When questioned trainer Mr P. Smith stated that Newbold Reine had worked well leading into the event and he was at a loss to explain the performance. Mr P. Smith advised in the days subsequent that Newbold Reine would be spelled. A post race veterinary examination of Newbold Reine did not reveal any abnormalities. As J. Taylor was injured stewards permitted the following rider changes Race Rider (Horse) 8 G. Lynch (Prince Zaim) 9 Apprentice P. Schmidt (Reckons) RACE 8: Benchmark 55 Handicap 1606m Willjoe began awkwardly. Starlist was slow to begin. Dudley hurdled the crossing near the 1400m. Starlist pulled hard in the early stages. Higher n higher overraced in the early and middle stages. Willjoe overraced near the 1200m. Passing the 800m Prince Zaim was steadied after improving onto the heels of Dudley. Approaching the 200m Higher n higher became held up on the heels of Starlist and was unable to improve until obtaining clear running passing the 100m. When questioned regarding the performance of Dudley apprentice Ms K. Stanley stated that her mount began well and was able to establish a forward position. Ms Stanley

4 stated that near the 1300m runners improved to her mounts outside and she elected to let them cross and she took the sit off them. Ms Stanley stated that her mount travelled well throughout the middle stages however when she placed it under pressure approaching the home turn it responded only fairly and failed to let down in the straight as she had hoped. When questioned, trainer Mr P. Stanley stated that he felt apprentice Ms K. Stanley should have held the lead near the 1300m as Dudley is a horse that either needs to lead or run off the back of a fast tempo. Mr P. Stanley added the pace of the race through the middle stages was only fair and it turned into a sit and sprint affair to which Dudley was not suited. A post race veterinary examination of Dudley did not reveal any abnormalities. RACE 9: Open Handicap 1206m Little Johnie was slow to begin and hampered shortly after by Urnfield which began awkwardly and shifted in. Nobody s Johnny began awkwardly. Punjab Rocket was tightened on jumping between Darshan Joh which shifted out and Private Express which shifted in. Cumin was inclined to lay in in the early stages. Passing the 200m Urnfield was eased after it laid out and was awkwardly placed on the heels of French Chimes. When questioned regarding the performance of Darshan Joh jockey B. Looker stated his mount was inclined to overrace in the early stages however once it settled passing the 800m it travelled comfortably in the middle stages. B. Looker stated that when he placed Darshan Joh under pressure in the straight it failed to respond and weakened in its run to the line. B. Looker added that shortly after crossing the finish line he noticed that Darshan Joh was making a heavy breathing noise. B. Looker stated that on return to scale Darshan Joh s tongue was pushed well back in its mouth and it may have choked down. When questioned regarding the performance of Darshan Joh trainer Mr J. Shelton stated that the gelding had worked well leading into the event and he expected a forward showing. Mr Shelton stated that he would add a tongue control to Darshan Joh s official race gear prior to its next race start. A post race veterinary examination of Darshan Joh revealed the gelding to have a poor recovery rate. When questioned regarding the performance of Punjab Rocket apprentice Ms K. Stanley stated that her mount began well and travelled well in the early and middle stages however was obliged to race in a position three wide without cover from the 700m after Darshan Joh improved to her inside and pushed her mount outwards. Ms Stanley stated that her mount responded fairly when placed under pressure in the straight however approaching the 100m peaked on its run and weakened in its run to the line. When questioned regarding the performance of Punjab Rocket trainer Mr H. Kilner stated that the gelding was up significantly in grade today, was second up after a spell and in his opinion peaked on its run over the final 100m. A post race veterinary examination of Punjab Rocket revealed the gelding to have a poor recovery rate. When questioned regarding the performance of Cumin trainer Mr T. Commerford stated that it was the geldings first start for his stable today. Mr Commerford added that Cumin s best form has been in races over distance however it s work leading into the event was sound and he was confident it would be competitive today. Mr Commerford added that Cumin raced like a horse that wants more ground and he would step it up in distance at its next race start. Mr Commerford was advised that a warning would be placed on the competiveness of Cumin which was beaten 25 lengths. N. Thomas (Cumin) will be interviewed regarding his whip use in the straight at a date to be fixed.
