The last third will be moved to the front, the middle section to the end & the first 1/3 will move to the middle where they will be subject to a ballot. The other two sections will remain in their previous year s order. With this system vendors will only change order every third year & with balloting the middle section no-one should find themselves unfairly balloted. New vendors will be placed at the beginning & end of the ring, as happened previously. 2

5 General Information & Sale Notes IDENTIFICATION All sheep must be identified with their individual BCSS identification in accordance with current BCSS rules. INSPECTION All sheep will be inspected by the Society's Official Inspector before being allowed forward for sale. All sheep must have been paint branded with their lot number prior to arrival at the sale. If you are presenting rams untrimmed, please clip a small patch for the lot number. BIOSECURITY Intending purchasers are requested to have livestock vehicles cleansed and disinfected. LICENCES Vendors are responsible for completing the Standard Movement Document prior to the sale. THE HOLDING NUMBER FOR THE NSA SALE AREA IS MAEDI VISNA All vendors must ensure that a fully completed MV certificate accompanies their sheep to the sale. CONDITIONS OF SALE All sheep will be sold subject to the Conditions of Sale of the British Charollais Sheep Society and to the Auctioneer's General Conditions of Sale, which are available in the Auctioneer's office. All sheep will be sold in guineas. PEDIGREE CERTIFICATES Pedigree certificates relating to the sale will be available from the Society at the conclusion of the sale. See note below with regard to Notified Males. SCRAPIE GENOTYPE CERTIFICATES Vendors at the sale are required to be responsible for the transfer of the genotype certificate to the new owner. The Scrapie Genotype results listed in this catalogue are guaranteed to be correct by the person whose name appears as the Vendor. Whilst the Society will make all possible effort to provide purchasers with the correct information, they can in no way be held responsible for any error or omission of information. PEDIGREE STATUS FOR MALES Would purchasers please note that there are two different status of registration for Charollais rams, Full Pedigree and Birth Notified. All Full Pedigree rams are marked as such in the catalogue and have been upgraded by the breeder, all other rams have Notified status only. No pedigree certificates are issued for Notified rams and these rams are not eligible for use within a pedigree flock until they are upgraded to Full Pedigree status. If Full Pedigree status is required then a fee of plus VAT is payable to the Society. All females are Full Pedigree registered and the certificates will be available from the cuctioneers. SUNDAY 24th SEPTEMBER Inspection will start at 9.00am - so come early and avoid the queue. Inspection will continue until 3.00pm JUDGING OF SHOW CLASSES will start at 2.30pm promptly. Any sheep not inspected by 1.30pm will not be eligible to be shown. JUDGING OF PEN CLASSES 1-3 will commence during the individual judging of Classes 1-6. The presentation of pen class awards will be made at the evening meal. INSPECTION PROCEDURE Two teams of inspectors and clerks will be on duty. Vendors must remove their vehicle away from the unloading point as soon as their sheep have been unloaded. With the large entry of sheep for this event we will do everything possible to make the inspection go as smoothly and as speedily as possible. However, vendors can help us and themselves a great deal by coming early. PRE SALE DINNER & PRIZE GIVING The Society will be holding a reception and prize giving for the Show and Pen Classes on Sunday 24th September in the CHAROLAIS CATTLE PAVILION on the Royal Welsh Showground at 7.00pm followed by a 2 course dinner at a cost of 15 Roast Meats - Beef or Turkey with seasonal vegetables & Homemade Gravy Dessert - Strawberry Gateaux, Chocolate Fudge Cake or Roulade (served with Cream) Members and friends all welcome This must be pre booked in advance by contacting the office by FRIDAY 22ND SEPTEMBER at the very latest. 4

Negative values indicate animals with lower fat content Fat Depth which will produce leaner carcases or which can be taken to higher weights without becoming over-fat.
