Ostrofski Race 1: FERGUSON CANNON LAWYERS QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE m 1st - Angelfly 2nd - Klairissimmo 3rd - Captain Spur 4th - Around The Legs Trainer J. Crompton was fined $100 under LR. 67 for failing to declare apprentice T. Harrison as the rider of CAPTAIN SPUR by the prescribed time. Trainer M. Thexton was fined $200 for failing to declare R. Wiggins as the rider of SOUL POWERED and apprentice T. Harrison as the rider of SOHO NIGHTS in Race 5. The start of this race was delayed due to KLAIRISSIMMO (E. Wilkinson) being difficult to load. Trainer A. Williamson was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse's barrier manners. CAPTAIN SPUR (T. Harrison) and MORINGAS MO JO (S. Shield), which were both slow to begin, were further hampered on jumping away between RACER ACE (L. Cheshire) and KLAIRISSIMMO, which jumped away awkwardly. As a consequence of this incident, MORINGAS MO JO lost significant ground. SOUL POWERED (R. Wiggins) was slow to begin. AMONUTE (A. Taylor) jumped away awkwardly. AMONUTE raced ungenerously in the early stages and after passing the 800m commenced to hang out and raced wide from that point onwards. Apprentice A. Taylor reported that in her opinion AMONUTE did not appreciate the kickback from the synthetic surface. CAPTAIN SPUR raced wide throughout. KLAIRISSIMMO (E. Wilkinson) shifted out under pressure in the home straight, causing its rider to stop riding and straighten near the 100m. FRITZ OF OAK (A. Spinks) laid in under pressure in the home straight. G. Colless, the rider of DIAMOND SPENDER, reported that after obtaining a favourable position just worse than midfield the gelding resented the kickback from the synthetic surface and was reluctant to hold its

2 position. Race 2: THOMPSON BUILDING GROUP MAIDEN H'CAP m 1st - Diamond Trail 2nd - Catalonia 3rd - Stalwart Tycoon 4th - Fleet Anchor Trainer D. Roche was fined $100 under LR. 67 for failing to declare apprentice B. Appo as the rider of PRINCESS CUGAT by the prescribed time. Trainer L. Treloar was fined $100 under LR. 67 for failing to declare E. Wilkinson as the rider of WALHAAN by the prescribed time Apprentice C. Jokic was fined $100 under AR. 92(12) for failing to claim her full allowance on STATUE BRO. STALWART TYCOON (G. Goold) attempted to buck for some distance shortly after the start, losing significant ground. Trainer N. Flouskos was advised that STALWART TYCOON must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to its next start. PRINCESS CUGAT (B. Appo), which was slow to begin, was further hampered shortly after the start between WHISPERING TESS (M. McKenzie) and GO THIAGO GO (P. Schmidt), which shifted in abruptly. STATUE BRO (C. Jokic) jumped away awkwardly and made contact with WALHAAN (E. Wilkinson). During the middle stages CATALONIA (M. Hellyer) overraced and was forced to steady from heels approaching the 600m. PRINCESS CUGAT and WALHAAN both raced extremely wide throughout. Trainer D. Wilson was advised that a warning would be placed on STATUE BRO, which hung out throughout. Mr Wilson indicated that he now consider sending STATUE BRO for a spell. J. Kehoe (TRUE TO FORM) was fined $200 under AR. 137A for excessive use of the whip in a backhand manner. Apprentice G. Goold was fined $200 under AR. 137A(5)(a)(ii) for using the whip on more than 5 occasions in a forehand manner prior to the 100m. Race 3: RAY WHITE COMMERCIAL MAIDEN PLATE m 1st - Mantras 2nd - Dark Matter 3rd - Grappa 4th - Kabowd Trainer K. Wood will be interviewed regarding the late scratching of BELLA DIAMOND. MANTRAS (J. Morris) and KABOWD (R. McMahon) overraced during the early and middle stages. BENJI BULLET (M. Cahill), which had a tendency to hang out throughout the event, shifted wider on the track rounding the home turn and afforded clearing running to MANTRAS to improve to the inside of that runner rounding the home turn. On return to scale apprentice M. McKenzie reported to stewards that NAKOMA STAR hung out throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination of JUST ONE KAY (Matthew Palmer), which raced wide throughout and commenced to yield ground from the 600m, failed to reveal any abnormalities. J. Morris (MANTRAS) was fined $200 under AR. 137A(5)(a)(ii) for using the whip on more than 5 occasions in a forehand manner prior to the 100m.

3 Race 4: RUMBA RESORT CLASS 3 H'CAP m 1st - Our Triple Treat 2nd - Strombo 3rd - Lady Oscar 4th - Kid Tycoon/Rosehip LOTACHOC (M. McKenzie) was tightened for room at the start and lost ground between SILENT LAKE (D. Browne) and ROSEHIP (E. Wilkinson), which jumped away awkwardly. VAIN DAZZLER (P. Schmidt) hung out rounding the first turn. STROMBO (B. Appo) raced wide during the early stages. FARMERWANTSAWIFE (G. Cooksley), which was overracing, raced wide during the early and middle stages before being permitted to stride forward to the lead at a point near the 800m. LADY OSCAR (L. Cheshire) and OUR TRIPLE TREAT (G. Colless), both raced wide throughout. Near the 900m CAPTAIN FASTBUCK (R. Wiggins), which had overraced badly throughout the event, had to be checked when tightened for room between OUR TRIPLE TREAT, which shifted in slightly and ROSEHIP, which shifted out to avoid the heels of VAIN DAZZLER, which was being restrained. Trainer R. Hurley was advised that LOTACHOC, which bled from both nostrils, would incur a lifetime ban from racing as this was the second occasion on which the gelding has bled. When questioned regarding the below market expectation performance of SILENT LAKE, jockey D. Browne stated that he had been instructed to attempt to stay away from the fence if possible and that in hindsight this in his opinion was not in the best interests of the mare's overall performance. He added that in the early stages he had opportunity to shift to the fence behind CAPTAIN FASTBUCK and a short distance later CAPTAIN FASTBUCK commenced to shift wider on the track, causing him to shift wider and restrain his mount, which placed him in an awkward position to the inside of LADY OSCAR, and he was therefore unable to improve into the race rounding the home turn when he would have liked, and in his opinion SILENT LAKE finished the race off fairly. Stewards questioned apprentice B. Appo regarding his tactics on STROMBO at a point leaving the 1000m where it appeared he had opportunity to secure a position on the fence. He stated that he had been advised that STROMBO races best when not racing in restricted room to the inside of other runners, so he elected to remain one off the fence in an attempt to improve to the outside of FARMERWANTSAWIFE. Stewards questioned trainer L. Richardson, who confirmed the instructions, and subsequently accepted the explanation. Stewards questioned apprentice P. Schmidt regarding the tactics adopted on VAIN DAZZLER. Of particular concern to stewards was the section of the race leaving the 1200m where after having obtained a position to the inside of STROMBO Ms Schmidt restrained her mount until the 600m, resulting in VAIN DAZZLER being positioned some 4 lengths in arrears of STROMBO. Ms Schmidt advised stewards that she had been instructed to attempt to obtain cover on VAIN DAZZLER as this was the gelding's first start over 1600m and connections were not certain that VAIN DAZZLER would run out a strong 1600m. She stated that the gelding was travelling comfortably at this point of the race and she was satisfied with its positioning. Stewards advised Ms Schmidt that in their opinion she had erred in the middle stages and this had been detrimental to the overall performance of VAIN DAZZLER, however given her status as an apprentice took no further action other than to advise her that this ride would be drawn to the attention of Racing Queensland's riders' advocate. Race 5: PELICAN WATERS CALOUNDRA CLASS 1 H'CAP m 1st - The Right One 2nd - Pasconi 3rd - Lady In Front 4th - Pearson/Soho Nights GENERAL EXPLORER (A. Allen) jumped away awkwardly, shifted in and had to be restrained from the heels of RHYTHM NATION (E. Wilkinson), which shifted out after being bumped by THE RIGHT ONE (J. Lloyd), which jumped away awkwardly. TRADIES HOPE (B. Appo) lost significant ground at the start when tightened for room between PEARSON (R. McMahon) and PASCONI (P. Hammersley), which was taken in by LADY IN FRONT (D. Browne).

4 RHYTHM NATION and BUDDY ROCKS (M. Cahill) both raced three wide throughout. When questioned regarding the below market expectation performance of COVERT CHARMOUR, jockey G. Colless stated that after being ridden forward he was forced to be wide in the early stages, however obtained a nice trailing position near the 600m and when placed under pressure he noted that the gelding hung in, however could offer no further explanation for the performance. Trainer M. Dunn could offer no further comments other than to state that in his opinion the gelding may not have raced comfortably on the synthetic surface. A post-race veterinary examination of COVERT CHARMOUR revealed no abnormalities. Stewards afforded apprentice A. Allen the opportunity to comment on the performance of GENERAL EXPLORER. Apprentice Allen stated that he had been instructed to ride the gelding in a position worse than midfield and after receiving interference out of the barriers he was forced to position the horse at the tail of the field. He added that in his opinion GENERAL EXPLORER was not suited to racing over today's distance as he was obliged to pressure the horse throughout the race to remain in contact with the main body of the field. He added that the gelding was doing its best work over the concluding stages and would be better suited when stepped up in distance. GENERAL EXPLORER lost its off fore plate in running. Race 6: BEERWAH HOTEL CLASS 2 H'CAP m 1st - Bundu Boy 2nd - Hi Hi 3rd - Desert Playboy 4th - Eddie HI HI (J. Kehoe), which was slow to begin, was hampered shortly after the start by LUCK'S ON OUR SIDE (G. Cooksley), which was taken out by EDDIE (E. Wilkinson), which jumped away awkwardly. DESERT PLAYBOY (Matthew Palmer), TANGO KING (G. Colless), HI HI and BUNDU BOY (B. Appo) raced wide throughout. L. Rolls reported that he had been instructed to ride HOT ICE in a forward position, however after being unable to muster sufficient speed in the early stages he elected to take hold and settle in a midfield position. J. Kehoe (HI HI) was fined $200 under AR. 137A for excessive use of the whip in a backhand manner. BUNDU BOY lost its near fore plate in running. Race 7: EMBRACIA BENCHMARK 75 H'CAP m 1st - Shadow Buster 2nd - Troilus Fuse 3rd - The Middleweight 4th - Precious Mandy FOR MIA (M. Hellyer), which kicked out in the barriers, was declared a late scratching at 4.11 p.m. on veterinary advice that the horse had sustained leg injuries. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on FOR MIA be refunded in full, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers: 17 cents in the dollar for the Win - SHADOW BUSTER 16 cents in the dollar for place of winner - SHADOW BUSTER 13 cents in the dollar for 2nd place - TROILUS FUSE 18 cents in the dollar for 3rd place - THE MIDDLEWEIGHT NERO'S FIRE (J. Stanley) reared as the start was effected. PRECIOUS MANDY (G. Colless) was slow to begin. HARNEY (C. Schmidt) raced wide during the early stages. TROILUS FUSE (J. Lloyd) and NAYNAY (E. Wilkinson) both raced wide throughout. SHADOW BUSTER (P. Hammersley) lost its off fore plate in running.

5 Race 8: BLAKE MACHINERY GROUP CLASS 1 H'CAP m 1st - Bathilda 2nd - La Flash 3rd - Brien's Girl 4th - Not A Dull Moment Trainer T. Wolfgram was fined $100 under LR. 67 for failing to declare Matthew Palmer as the rider of LADY'S COMMAND by the prescribed time. LA FLASH (C. Schmidt) jumped away awkwardly and made contact with NOBLE GAME (B. Appo). A short distance later HALLSIDE SHOWDOWN (B. Swaffer) shifted in hampering NOBLE GAME. ARISTON (S. Lanigan) and PARTY TRICKS (T. Harrison) were both slow to begin. HALLSIDE SHOWDOWN overraced with its head in the air during the early stages. LADY'S COMMAND (Matthew Palmer), BATHILDA (M. Cahill) and MAY (P. Schmidt) raced wide throughout. For a short distance leaving the 1000m ARISTON overraced at the heels of NOBLE GAME. MAZARDI (L. Rolls) overraced during the middle stages. Near the 600m HALLSIDE SHOWDOWN improved on to the heels of MAZARDI and had to be restrained. ARISTON was held up rounding the home turn and again was held up for clear running from the 200m onwards and went to the line without being fully tested. Rounding the home turn MAZARDI shifted out in an attempt to secure clear running and in doing so making heavy contact on a number of occasions with LADY'S COMMAND, causing both horses to become unbalanced. Trainer M. Mair was advised that NOT A DULL MOMENT (A. Pattillo), which bled from both nostrils, would be ineligible to start in races for 3 months, and prior to resuming racing must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop in the presence of a steward. A post-race veterinary examination of MAZARDI failed to reveal any abnormalities. A swab sample was taken from MAZARDI. BRIEN'S GIRL (M. Hellyer) lost its off fore plate in running. Apprentice B. Swaffer reported that HALLSIDE SHOWDOWN hung in throughout. He added that trainer B. Heinemann had indicated that the horse will in all probability be sent for a spell. Stewards questioned apprentice C. Schmidt regarding her tactics adopted in the middle stages when after having an opportunity to be positioned on the fence she directed LA FLASH wider on the track which resulted in the mare travelling in a 4-wide position. Ms Schmidt stated that LA FLASH at that stage of the race was resenting the kickback from the other runners and as she had been instructed to have the mare travel into the race she elected to shift wider to avoid the kickback and afford herself clear running as early as possible. Trainer L. Richardson confirmed the instructions and added that he was satisfied with Ms Schmidt's ride. Stewards advised Ms Schmidt that whilst she perhaps did not need to race as wide in the race as she did, they could not be overly critical when considering the instructions she had been given.
