Tou Stewards Secretary W. Ostrofski OFFICIALS Acting on a report of an incident that occurred in the wash bay between licensees K. Leask and R. Maund, stewards took evidence from both parties and licensee M. Harrison, after which Mr Maund was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he conducts himself in a professional manner towards other licensees in the future. Race 1: LOCKYER VALLEY RESIDENTIAL VILLAGE CLASS 1 H CAP 860M ZOU DER ZEE Had to be steadied to avoid heels near the 500m. CAPTAIN LEO Trainer B. Currie was fined $100 for failing to produce the horse s Thoroughbred Identification Card. IT S WANTED Began awkwardly and shifted out at the start. STAR PAINTER Trainer M. Palmer was fined $100 for the late declaration of B. Ainsworth as rider. ENCORE SALL Slow to begin and was then hampered shortly after. ELLII MANTRA Commenced to lay out across the heels of STORM ANCHOR near the 500m and had to be steadied.

2 STORM ANCHOR Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout. Race 2: WAR VETERANS QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE 1400M ERNIE S EGO Bumped at the start. FRENCH DESCENT Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages and was allowed to stride forward to obtain the lead near the 1000m. KING OF MONACO Trainer M. Leitch advised that it would be the intention to have the gelding ridden in a more forward position if circumstances permit. The horse settled in a midfield position. Hampered at the start when bumped. G. Colless reported at scale that his mount would appreciate a step up in distance. MOBILE Bumped at the start, shifted in and bumped with KING OF MONACO. Tightened for room and lost ground leaving the 1100m. PEXBURY AVENUE Late scratching at am when the horse refused to be loaded onto the float. Trainer G. Cornish was advised that a warning would be placed against the gelding. THE SHEEPISH LION Shifted in at the start and bumped ERNIE S EGO. Hung out rounding the home turn. A TISKET A TASKET Fractious in the barriers and was then slow to begin. Raced three wide without cover from the 900m. JUST TINA Had to be steadied near the 1300m when placed in restricted room to the inside of KING OF MONACO. Raced wide from the 800m for the remainder of the event. HIDE THE CANDY Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Shifted in when racing greenly leaving the 1100m and bumped MOBILE. Race 3: GATTON RSL F&M MAIDEN H CAP 1400M The start of this race was delayed when BALLINA BAY was reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Trainer B. Hudson was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly s prerace manners. GIFTOFLIFE Slow to begin. Had to be eased near the 1100m when placed in restricted room to the inside of HIGH ON YOU. HEART OF A REBEL Shifted out three wide near the 800m and raced wide from that point onwards. HIGH ON YOU Inclined to shift in under pressure in the home straight.

3 SMOOTH PEBBLES Raced with glue-on shoes. Began awkwardly. SHERINGA Caught wide in the early stages before assuming the position in the lead near the 800m. Race 4: DIGGERS C,G&E MAIDEN H CAP 1400M GOOD CATCH J. Morris was fined $100 for using the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, stewards took into account the total number of whip strikes in the home straight. SCANDALS Stood flat-footed at the start and lost considerable distance. HOL S SPRINGSTEEN Commenced to overrace at the heels of MALCRIADO approaching the 900m, shifted out and made contact with GOOD CATCH, then shifted back in towards the rail and had to be steadied from the heels of MALCRIADO. When questioned regarding the horse s disappointing performance, apprentice H. English stated that the gelding raced greenly throughout and failed to handle the tight turning track. She added that the gelding never travelled comfortably at any stage and was most disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. MALCRIADO Raced wide in the early stages and then improved forward to take up the lead near the 1100m. AUSTRALIAN PHAROAH Had to be steadied near the 1200m, losing ground. Stewards inquired into the incident, evidence was taken from the riders in the vicinity and it was established that HOL S SPRINGSTEEN shifted in and away from GOOD CATCH, which shifted in slightly away from MALCRIADO, which was racing in a 4 wide position at that stage. As stewards were not satisfied that the incident was a result of carelessness by any one of the riders, no action was taken. WICKED INVESTMENT Raced wide for the majority of the event. BOOF ED Apprentice J. Hodge was fined $100 for failing to claim his full allowance. Began awkwardly. Race 5: LEST WE FORGET CLASS 2 H CAP 1100M CARANGALL Apprentice S. Sweeney reported at scale that her mount put in a very awkward stride shortly after the start and then commenced to overrace fiercely in a three wide position and she attributed this to her mount being unable to finish the race off. TWILIGHT MANEUVER J. Taylor reported at scale that his mount anticipated the start and then blundered badly. He then placed his mount under pressure, however he had some concerns that the gelding may have sustained an injury and therefore he was reluctant to place his mount under further pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a laceration to the off hind cannon. CLOVERLEIGH LASS Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

4 Race 6: ROOM MOTELS GATTON CLASS 3 PLATE 1400M The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow apprentice R. Williams and trainer R. Lipp (WINE BARREL) to view the photo finish print. BROOKTON ICE A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. EMVEPEE Hampered approaching the 200m and was then held up and unable to improve until shifting wider on the track near the 100m. NIGHT WOLF Bumped passing the 1100m and then raced wide from that point onwards. TAIYOSHIN Slow to begin. WINE BARREL Began awkwardly and then was restrained to take up a position at the rear of the field. Improved on to heels of EMVEPEE passing the 1100m, shifted out and bumped NIGHT WOLF. Improved on the heels of REVELIO near the 300m and had to be checked and then approaching the 200m had to be steadied when disappointed for a run between REVELIO and A NEW SOUND. Race 7: GATTON CUP JUNE 11 BENCHMARK 62 H CAP 1600M VENECIA Had to be eased from the heels of MARLENE ADELE near the 1400m and then shifted out, making contact with TORONTO FLYER. Inclined to lay out under pressure in the home straight. TORONTO FLYER Bumped near the 1400m and then raced wide for the remainder of the event. When questioned regarding the horse s disappointing performance, apprentice J. Guthmann-Chester stated that shortly after the start he was forced wider on the track and as a result he was obliged to race wide throughout. He added that when he placed the gelding under pressure near the 600m it failed to respond to his riding. He further added that in his opinion the gelding may not have appreciated today s firm racing surface. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the outside of the off fore fetlock. HAMMERACK Momentarily held up from leaving the 300m until approaching the 200m and then was obliged to shift back to the inside to obtain clear running.
