4 ENTRIES TO ARRIVE BY FRIDAY 11 th AUGUST 2017 Entries must be made on the official Entry Form; additional copies are available from the BSHA website. Horse of the Year Show entries will require a Horse of the Year Show Entry Form to be completed. CHEQUES SHOULD BE MADE PAYABLE TO BRITISH SHOW HORSE ASSOCIATION OR BSHA Late entries will be accepted from Exhibitors qualifying at Shows held after the closing date of entry. Late entries made after the closing date or on the day will incur a 15 surcharge per class and proof of Membership and Horse Registration will be required. ENTRIES CLOSE ONE HOUR BEFORE SCHEDULED START OF CLASS CASH OR CREDIT CARD ONLY ON THE DAY DAY TICKETS National Championship Show Day Tickets are available to Non-Members at 20 per Day; you will need one Day Ticket for each day. A Day Ticket is temporary Membership for the Horse, Owner and Rider for the day; they may not be used for HOYS qualifying or Classic Supreme classes. No Day Tickets are required for the following classes: HOYS Intermediate Classes; Grass Roots Training Championship; DMSL Phone Systems Ladies Show Horse Championship; Rising Star Classes; Classical Ladies Side Saddle; Veterans; First Season Show Horse; Clear Round Dressage; BSPA Classes and In-Hand Anglo Arabs. 5 CONDITIONS OF ENTRY 1. The show is run in accordance with the British Show Horse Association Rules for No responsibility will be accepted by the Organisers for any loss, damage, illness or injury sustained by the Exhibitors and/or Riders or their Horses. Entries are accepted on this basis. 3. Classes will not run ahead of schedule but large entries might cause some classes to over-run. 4. HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW CLASSES: Entries in these classes 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53 & 54 inclusive, are confined to Registered Horses owned, produced and ridden by Members of the Association. These classes are qualifiers for the Hack, Cob, Maxi Cob and Riding Horse classes at the Horse of the Year Show, NEC, Birmingham, 4th - 8th October The qualification at this Show is a Golden Ticket - if the first has already qualified, the second will qualify. If the first and second have already qualified the third will go forward and so on irrespective, to the next unqualified horse. ALL COMPETITORS QUALIFYING FOR Horse of the Year Show 2017 MUST COMPLETE THEIR ENTRY FORM AND POST ASAP to GRANDSTAND MEDIA. These classes will be run in accordance with the general rules as set out in the Horse of the Year Show rulebook, a copy of which can be downloaded from " Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office. 5. A Horse of the Year Show official entry form MUST be submitted, FULLY COMPLETED, together with the BSHA Show entry form and payment. Failure to include the form will result in the entry being returned. The form can be downloaded from the Show website or from the Horse of the Year Show website. 6. CLASSIC SUPREME CLASSES: Entries in the Classic Supreme classes 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 & 14 inclusive, are only open to registered Hacks, Cobs, Maxi Cobs and Riding Horses, owned and ridden by Members, that have been placed first, second or third in an Open class at an Affiliated Show held in ANGLO & PART BRED CLASSES: The Anglo and Part Bred Arab classes are open to Non-Members of the Association, Horses do not have to qualify, but must be registered with the Arab Horse Society. 8. NOVICE CLASSES: Novice classes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 18 & 36 inclusive are open to registered Hacks, Cobs, Maxi Cobs and Riding Horses which have not won a first prize of 35 or more, or more than a total of 250, including Championship Prize Money, in any classes which were affiliated to the Association, at home or abroad, prior to the 1st January Winnings gained as a four year old are excepted unless that four year old has won an Open ridden class. A Novice may be shown in a snaffle bridle. 9. The Organisers reserve the right to make alterations to the published timetable, cancel any class if there are insufficient entries, or to amend the conditions of any class at their absolute discretion. If entries are large it may be necessary to arrange preliminary judging. 10. REFUND OF ENTRIES: REFUNDS WILL NOT BE GIVEN UNLESS A VETERINARY OR DOCTORS CERTIFICATE IS PRODUCED. ALL REQUESTS FOR REFUNDS MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE OFFICE WITHIN 7 WORKING DAYS AFTER THE SHOW. ALL CERTIFICATES/PAPERWORK MUST BE RECEIVED WITHIN 14 WORKING DAYS AFTER THE SHOW. PLEASE NOTE A 15 ADMINISTRATION FEE WILL BE RETAINED BY THE BSHA FOR ADMINISTRATON PURPOSES. Horse of the Year Show levies will not be refunded as they are payable on entries received. There will be no refunds for clashes or missed classes. 11. STABLING: BOOKINGS ARE DIRECT TO ADDINGTON MANOR. 12. PRIZE MONEY: Prize money will be posted after the Show. 13. DOPE TESTING: Please note all Horses on the Showground may be required to be dope tested and testing will be via blood or urine samples. 14. DOGS: Dogs must be kept on leads at all times and are only allowed in the car and lorry parks. Dogs are not allowed in the competition or public areas, main building, cafeteria or stable barn. 15. COMPLAINTS: Any objection or complaint must be made in writing and signed (no anonymous complaints will be actioned) and submitted to the Disciplinary Steward or Secretary on the day of the Incident.

6 16. RULES FOR STYLE AND OBEDIENCE STYLE AND OBEDIENCE: - The class consists of a Style phase (jumping round) and an Obedience phase (test performed on the flat). In each phase it is not the difficulty or height which is under scrutiny, but the style and obedience with which each phase is undertaken by Horse and Rider. Each phase of the class will be awarded marks. The winner is the Exhibit with the highest combined total of marks. Phase 1 Style (The Broadband and Phones Ring) The course will consist of 8 jumps in an enclosed arena. Height of fences: Open - Min: 2 3, Max: 2 6, Maximum spread: 2 6 Each jump is awarded a mark out of ten for approach, bascule, style and rhythm. Maximum score 80 for the jumping phase. There will be a comments section at the end of the sheet for any additional information the Judge may think of use to the competitor to aid improvement. Phase 2 Obedience The aim of the obedience phase is to combine a flowing test with rhythm, softness and responsiveness of the horse, whilst making the correct shapes and showing the horse in the best possible manner, as though in the show ring. Please present yourselves at The Deanwater Hotel Ring after you have jumped in phase 1. Short flat test to include the following movements: a) Walk on a long rein b) Twenty meter circle in trot on each rein c) Rein Back d) Halt for 3 seconds at X at the beginning and end of the test e) Canter 3 loop serpentine with simple change of lead through trot f) Extension in canter Test not to exceed 2 minutes. Each movement will be awarded a mark out of ten and half marks may also be used where appropriate by the Judge. There will be space next to each mark for any additional comments the Judge may wish to make, which he/she may feel of benefit to the Horse and Rider. 17. RULES FOR BSHA GRASS ROOTS CHAMPIONHIP Please see Class 45 - BSHA Grass Roots Championship in the BSHA National Championship schedule Open to those Horses having qualified at the BSHA Spring Festival Show, other "Qualifying Shows" or hold a TSR Qualification card and are eligible under the following rules: Riders & Horses DO NOT have to be members of the BSHA to enter the Grass Roots Championships. Riders MUST not have competed at HOYS within the last 5 years with the exception of Search for a Star. Open to horse & rider combination not to have won a total of 200 in showing classes. Horses MUST be stabled at home, DIY or in a non showing yard. Horses to be ridden by an Amateur as per the BSHA definition. Riders will receive feedback from the judges. No professional producers are allowed into the Ring. Special Awards: TSR Sashes to the highest placed TSR Member. Special rosettes to the highest placed BRC Member Exhibitors competing in Class 45 and who are not Members of the BSHA, can compete in other classes i.e. Amateur Home Produced, Restricted etc. on the purchase of a BSHA Day Ticket; you do not require a Day Ticket if only competing in Class 45 The BSHA Grass Roots Championship. BARBECUES There are to be NO Barbecues in the Lorry Park under any circumstances. Please take your Barbecues to the field well away from the Stabling and Lorry Park. 7 STABLING ARRANGEMENTS STABLES All stabling will be organised and run by Addington Manor. Please use their Stable Booking Form and send your requests and payments direct to them. Stabling Forms sent to the BSHA will only result in delays. FORAGE and BEDDING Don t overload your lorry! Hay, Haylage and Shavings can all be pre-ordered for the National Championships direct through: Country Equestrian Home Farm Poundon Bicester OX27 9AY Tel No: Collect orders on arrival at the Showground Stable Availability and Entrance Times Stables are NOT allocated by the BSHA office. Stabling will be available from 1pm onwards on Thursday 7th September. Please see Stable Manager on arrival. On Friday and Saturday there will be no entrance before 5:30am and no entrance after 10.00pm on any day.
