(jl) Supplementary: CANTERBURY PARK Wednesday 27 June 2012 Race 1: Tooheys New Golden Slipper Noms Close July 3 Handicap 1100m Trainer Mr P Snowden reported that Lyric had pulled up well and reiterated that the rain affected track was the principal reason for Lyric s disappointing performance. Trainer Mr R Craig reported that Jingle All The Way had been treated by the chiropractor on the day following its fall in this race and will undergo a specialist lameness examination in the next week, as directed by the Stewards. Mr Craig indicated that Jingle All The Way will then be spelled, after which the gelding will trial. Race 6: State of Origin Live at Rosehill Gardens Handicap 1550m App. J Adams, rider of fourth placegetter, Fox Solid, was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out fully to the finish. HAWKESBURY Thursday 17 May 2012 Race 4: Parramatta Leauges Home of the Eels Maiden Plate 1500m Trainer Mr D Payne was interviewed following receipt of the autopsy report for Crazy Kiwi, after the gelding broke down and had to be euthanased on humane grounds. Evidence was tendered by Mr Payne s veterinary surgeon that Crazy Kiwi was treated in the week leading up to the race, however, a veterinary examination did not reveal any lameness issues. On the evidence provided by the autopsy report and by Racing NSW Official Senior Veterinarian Craig Suann, it was established that Crazy Kiwi suffered a severe comminuted fracture of the left knee, resulting in the gelding being euthanased. RACE 1: Hakka Foods 2YO Handicap 1200m: National Theatre was slow to begin. Grand Business overraced in the middle stages. Near the 500m National Theatre shifted in slightly and made contact with the shoulder of Raise The Level. In the incident Raise The Level overreacted, became badly unbalanced and lost ground. Risky Blonde (App. C Schofield) and Imperil bumped, as Risky Blonde endeavoured to improve into a run between Centrepet and Imperil where there was insufficient room. App. C Schofield was advised that he should ensure there is sufficient racing room when attempting similar manoeuvres. When questioned regarding Raise The Level racing back in the field today, as opposed to its last start when successful on

2 ROSE 2 Saturday, 9 June 2012, App. B Spriggs stated his instructions from trainer Mr R Craig were similar in that the gelding was to be forward. He added, after jumping awkwardly and making contact with National Theatre, he rode Raise The Level along in an endeavour to comply with his instructions, however, when his mount did not show any speed, he elected to cross behind the field and find cover. A post-race veterinary examination of Raise The Level did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr R Craig confirmed the instructions and stated, in light of today s performance, Raise The Level will be spelled. When questioned, C Brown could offer no excuse for the disappointing performance of National Theatre. He stated that he rode the colt in a track gallop here on Tuesday, 26 June 2012 and from that work felt that National Theatre would perform well today. He added that his mount was under pressure from the 600m, did not respond to his riding and was most disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination of National Theatre did not reveal any abnormalities. Mr B Banfield, representing trainer Mr G Ryan, agreed with C Brown that, on its work leading into the race, National Theatre would have been heard to beat, however, performed below expectations. Mr Banfield undertook to report back on the progress of National Theatre subsequent to the race. RACE 2: NATURALAZ Handicap 1400m: Australian Star was slow to begin. Skip Town jumped out at the start, resulting in Bello being buffeted between Skip Town and Zippy Zariz. When the pace slackened approaching the first turn near the 1000m Bardiya and Bello made contact with the running rail. Flying Zero, which was following, had to be steadied in consequence. Passing the 900m Bello had to be checked off the heels of Bardiya. Flying Zero, which was following Bello, also had to be checked off that runner s heels. Passing the 800m Australian Star had to be checked away from the heels of The Owl and shifted out. Rounding the home turn Flying Zero shifted out to improve around the heels of Hendricus and made contact with Zippy Zariz. Approaching the 100m Bardiya had to be steadied when Bello (App. A Hyeronimus), which improved quickly on the heels of Skip Town, shifted back in when not fully clear of Bardiya. App. A Hyeronimus was advised to be fully clear when shifting ground. When questioned regarding his instructions on Bello, App. A Hyeronimus stated his intention had been to be forward on the gelding, however, after beginning only fairly and receiving interference at the start, Bello raced further back than he anticipated. RACE 3: Pacific West Handicap 1200m: At the entrance to the straight, after being held up on the back of Embark, Divya (H Bowman) shifted back in when not clear of We Betcha, which had to be steadied. H Bowman was advised to exercise more care. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of Radharcnafarraige, App. J Matthews stated that, although the mare was inclined to pull hard in the early stages due to the slow early pace, he was able to obtain a forward position, however, when placed under pressure from the entrance to the straight Radharcnafarraige did not respond to his riding and, in his opinion, was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination of Radharcnafarraige did not reveal any abnormalities. Co-trainer Mr L Freedman stated that, although Radharcnafarraige had trialled impressively, he agreed with the thoughts of App. Matthews that the mare overraced and may be better suited when ridden more forward. Mr Freedman also advised the Stewards he may experiment with

3 ROSE 3 blinkers on the mare at its next start and undertook to report if there was anything amiss with Radharcnafarriage subsequent to the race. RACE 4: The McCain Advantage Bobs Significant Stakes 1900m: Cumin, which became fractious and reared in the barriers, striking the back gate and making contact with the barrier attendant, was inspected by the Club's Veterinary Officer and permitted to take its place in the field. A post-race veterinary examination of Cumin did not reveal any abnormalities, other than a small abrasion to the inside of its nearside nostril. Trainer Mr C Waller was advised that a warning would be placed on Cumin relative to its barrier manners. Mr Waller undertook to report back to the Stewards on the progress of Cumin subsequent to the race. Hurricane Henny and Fedde bumped on jumping. Shortly after the start Havana Rey laid out, resulting in Hurricane Henny being crowded when taken out onto Fedde, which had to be steadied in consequence. Fastnet Prince bumped the running rail approaching the 1000m. Love Excels laid out around the home turn. P Robl, rider of Hurricane Henny, was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in approaching the winning post when not clear of Havana Rey, resulting in Havana Rey having to be steadied past the post. When questioned, C Reith stated that Fastnet Prince travelled well in the lead, however, he became concerned with the gelding s action approaching the 600m and, after it became apparent that something was amiss, he eased Fastnet Prince down. A post-race veterinary examination of Fastnet Prince revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer Mr M Price was advised he would be required to provide a veterinary clearance for Fastnet Prince prior to its next start. RACE 5: City Extra Restaurants Handicap 1500m: Trainer K Moses was fined $100 under LR35(2) for the late declaration of App. C Schofield as the rider of Let Them Have It. Approaching the 800m Let Them Have It, which was overracing, had to be steadied away from the heels of River Of Salvation. Tamanu Park overraced in the middle stages. Near the 150m Irish Dream shifted out, resulting in River Of Salvation running out away from that runner and in turn making contact with Let Them Have It. Kim Devine was held up in the early part of the straight and again near the 150m had to shift out across the heels of Let Them Have It in order to continue into clear running. Over the concluding stages Let Them Have It could not be ridden out when awkwardly placed between Al s Gold and Irish Dream. J Parr, rider of Fiscal, was questioned regarding his tactics at the entrance to the straight when he shifted out when a run developed in front of him. J Parr was advised that, although the Stewards agreed Fiscal was tiring, he should be more alert to opportunities that present themselves. RACE 6: Riviana Foodservice Civic Stakes 1400m: Lady Lynette and Malavio were slow to begin. Pimpala Secret shifted out at the start, hampering Ideal Position, which in turn made contact with the hindquarter of Tromso. Approaching the 1300m Tromso had to be steadied when crowded for room between Ideal Position and Brilliant Light, which ran in away from Alberton Park. App. C Schofield, rider of Alberton Park, was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in approaching the first turn near the 1100m, resulting in Tromso being tightened and having to be steadied when taken in onto Lady Lynette, which was also inconvenienced. Ideal Position and Think Mink, which was following, were also steadied in consequence. Think

4 ROSE 4 Mink overraced in the middle stages. App. C Schofield was further reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift out around the heels of Hood shortly after straightening when not clear of Tromso, resulting in that runner being tightened and having to be steadied when taken out onto Famous Seamus. RACE 7: Chiko Handicap 1200m: Prior to the declaration of correct weight, rider P Robl and trainer Mr P Snowden viewed the patrol films, before consideration was given to lodging an objection against the winner, Kirinata. When they were satisfied that there were insufficient grounds to do so and the Stewards also considered the matter, as well as the matter of fifth placegetter, Happy Finish, being interfered with, Stewards also considered there were insufficient grounds in both matters to lodge an objection and correct weight was declared. Kirinata jumped awkwardly. Fifteen Carat shifted out at the start and hampered Tindal. At the 1000m Martin Place was hampered when Black Routine, which was inclined to lay in, shifted in away from Kirinata Approaching the 700m Martin Place ran out, taking Whitlam out onto Earnest Ernest, resulting in both runners being taken wider on the track. Earnest Ernest was inclined to lay in in the middle stages. App. J Matthews pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding for permitting his mount to shift out near the 100m when not clear of Happy Finish, which lost its running and altered course to the inside Kirinata, and further continuing to ride his mount along when shifting out, resulting in Whitlam being taken out onto Earnest Ernest, resulting in those two runners making contact and being hampered. App. Matthew s permit to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday, 8 July 2012 and to expire on Saturday, 14 July 2012, on which day he may ride. In addition, App. Matthews was fined $500.. H Bowman, rider of fourth placegetter, More Rocco, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR145 of weighing in in excess of 1kg overweight. In issuing a fine of $1000, the Stewards took into account H Bowman s guilty plea and his good record with respect to breaches under this rule. RACE 8: Four N Twenty Legendary Angus Handicap 1900m: Trainer Mr P Moody was fined $100 under LR35(2) for the late declaration of J Parr as the rider of Lethal Arrow. A warning was placed on Titbit, which was difficult to load. Gazza Guru and Republic Lad bumped shortly after the start. Approaching the 1700m Tropicana Girl ran in abruptly and had to be steadied away from the heels of Lodge The Deeds. Tropicana Girl again rain in abruptly a short distance later. Making the first turn near the 1400m Tropicana Girl, which was pulling hard, shifted out off the heels of Lodge The Deeds, taking Guderian wider on the track. Passing the 900m Tropicana Girl had to be checked away from the heels of Peck. At the entrance to the straight, after being held up on the heels of Lethal Arrow, Our Barney shifted out around that runner, making contact with The Zeebac. Titbit, which was eased down by its rider, App. C Schofield, in the straight, was found to be displaying cardiac arrhythmia on examination. Trainer Mr C Waller was advised that a full vet check, including the results of an ECG, must be provided and Titbit must then trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards. When questioned regarding the performance of Glintz, P Robl stated his mount overraced early and he went forward in an endeavour to find a position close to the rail. He stated that, in his opinion, the gelding did not run out the 1900m journey. Stable representative Mr B Heyes indicated that the stable would look to drop Glintz back in distance and endeavour to have the gelding ridden more quietly at its next start. Mr Heyes

5 ROSE 5 undertook to report if there was anything amiss with Glintz subsequent to the race. G Ryan, rider of Harry Trimbole, reported his mount overraced and laid in badly throughout the event. GENERAL: App. A Hyeronimus was fined $50 under LR68 for failing to produce a letter of authority. App. J Matthews was reprimanded under LR68 for failing to produce a letter of authority. Swab samples were taken from all winners and the following runners: Race 1: Grand Business(2), Raise The Level, National Theatre, Centrepet. Race 2: Fast And Sexy, Zippy Zariz, Skip Town, Australian Star (2), Bardiya, Flying Zero. Race 3: Radharcnafarraige, We Betcha, Zigzag, Urania Crown, Onecatstoomany, Radar. Race 4: Fedde, Fastnet Prince, Cumin, Hurricane Henry. Race 5: Fiscal, Pegembak, Tamanu Park, Benevento, Irish Dream. Race 6: Lady Lynette, Hood, Famous Seamus, Madibagold, Malavio (2), Ideal Position. Race 7: Fifteen Carat, Mr Bolinger, Whitlam. Race 8: Glintz, Lethal Arrow (2), Harry Trimbole, Titbit, Shamardani, Our Barney. SUMMARY Fines: App. A Hyeronimus $50 fail to produce letter of authority (LR68). Race 5: Trainer K Moses (Let Them Have It) $100 late declaration of rider (LR35(2)). Race 8: Trainer P Moody (Lethal Arrow) $100 late declaration of rider (LR35(2)).
