1 2017 CODE OF ETHICS FOR LIVESTOCK PROJECTS Believing in the best interest of all junior exhibitors to maintain a reputation of integrity and to represent a wholesome and progressive image, Scotland County Jr. Livestock Show Committee sets forth the following as a standard to be followed: 1. Trustworthiness: includes honesty, promise keeping and loyalty. daily feeding and watering of animals (promise keeping) adheres to possession deadlines (honesty) adheres to withdrawal times on drugs and de-wormer adheres to entry deadlines only the appropriate use of approved drugs exhibits only the project or project animal of member 2. Respect: includes courtesy and proper treatment of people and things. proper handling for animals, treat humanely proper care of animals and projects listen to and follow advise of advisors recognizes that animal projects are dependent on 4-H member and provides daily feed and water 3. Responsibility: includes the pursuit of excellence, accountability and perseverance. daily feeding and watering (even on busy, difficult days) goes beyond providing the daily needs of the animal in giving additional time and attention to produce a winner adheres to entry deadlines and for arrival at livestock shows never gives up in the show ring or any other fair activity 4. Fairness: involves consistently applying rules and standards appropriately for different age groups and ability levels. feeds only approved livestock rations only the appropriate use of approved drugs accepts winning or losing with grace conduct in the show ring follows recommended procedures fitting and grooming of animals follows recommended procedures 5. Caring: promoting the well-being of people and things in a young person s world. 2 At the time of printing the following is the current set of guidelines for Missouri Animal Health Requirements for Exhibition. 1. The Scotland County Jr. Livestock Committee reserves the final and absolute right to interpret these rules and regulations, settle and determine all matters, questions and differences in regard thereto, otherwise arising out of, connected with or incident to the fair. 2. The committee reserves the right to amend or add to these rules, with previous notice, as it, in its judgment, may deem advisable. 3. Any person who violates any of the foregoing or special rules will forfeit all privileges and premiums. ANIMAL HEALTH REQUIREMENTS FOR EHIBITION.The Certificate of Veterinary Inspection is valid for thirty (30) days. Animals with active lesions of ringworm or warts will not be permitted to exhibit and shall be subject to isolation and expulsion. 1. EHIBITION REQUIREMENTS FOR CATTLE IN MISSOURI. Intrastate (cattle in Missouri moving for exhibition only). 1. No Certificate of Veterinary Inspection required. 2. Brucellosis no test or vaccination is required. 3. Tuberculosis no test is required. 2. EHIBITION REQUIREMENTS FOR SWINE Intrastate (swine in Missouri moving for exhibition only) 1. All swine must be free of clinical signs of infectious or contagious disease. 2. No Certificate of Veterinary Inspection is required 3. Brucellosis no test required 4. Pseudorabies no test required 4. EHIBITION REQUIREMENTS FOR SHEEP. Intrastate (sheep in Missouri moving for exhibition only). 1. Sheep must be free of clinical signs of an infectious or contagious disease. 2. All sheep, regardless of age or gender, must be individually identified by an official scrapie ear tag and be listed on a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection. 3. No test required. 5. EHIBITION REQUIREMENTS FOR GOATS. Intrastate (goats in Missouri moving for exhibition only) 1. Goats must be free of clinical signs of an infectious or contagious disease. 2. All goats, regardless of age or gender, must be individually identified by an official scrapie ear tag or any other means of permanent identification approved by the state veterinarian and be listed on a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection. 3. No test required 6. EHIBITION REQUIREMENTS EQUINE. Intrastate (equine in Missouri moving for exhibition only). 1. Equine that are to be exhibited must be free of clinical signs of an Infectious or contagious disease. Any equine showing signs of infectious or contagious diseases at an exhibition may be excused by the official inspecting veterinarian. When an official inspecting veterinarian is present; all equine will be subject to daily inspection. 2. A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection is not required. 3. All equine (except nursing foals accompanied by their dams) must be accompanied by a current VS Form or any officially recognized state EIA test chart showing the graphic description of all markings needed for identification, or micro-chip, or legible tattoo, or unique registered brand. A certified photocopy or certified facsimile of the VS Form or any officially recognized state EIA test chart may be accepted for the purpose of exhibition. 7. EHIBITION REQUIREMENTS FOR POULTRY AND WATERFOWL Intrastate (poultry and waterfowl in Missouri moving for exhibition only) 1. All poultry and waterfowl to be exhibited must be free of clinical signs of any infectious or contagious disease. 2. No Certificate of Veterinary Inspection is required 3. Pullorum-Typhoid test. All poultry (except waterfowl) exhibited shall be tested negative for pullorum-typhoid. 4. Sponsors of poultry exhibition must notify the state veterinarian at least thirty (30) days prior to the exhibition with names places, dates and times of the event. Records must be kept for one (1) year including owner information, species, breed, type and pullorum-typhoid status of poultry. 8. EHIBITION REQUIREMENTS FOR DOGS AND CATS. Intrastate (dogs and cats in Missouri moving for exhibition only). 1. A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection is not required. 2. Dogs and cats four (4) months of age or older must be vaccinated for rabies by one (1) of the methods and within the time period published in the current Compendium of Animal Rabies Vaccines by the National Association of State Public Health Veterinarians, Inc. 9. EHIBITION REQUIREMENTS FOR RABBITS. Intrastate (rabbits in Missouri moving for exhibition ) 1.A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection is required which lists the age, species, gender, identification or description. 2. Rabbits must be free of any clinical signs of infectious or contagious disease. 2

G. Ruth Point Value: Blue: - 20 Red: - 15 White: Only regularly enrolled, 2017 Scotland County 4-H, Boy Scouts and FFA members may exhibit articles in this class. 2. Purpose: The objectives of this exhibit are: First, to encourage the production of better wool: Second, to stimulate interest in the proper preparation of wool for market, and Third, to select the best fleeces entered in each class. 3. Number of Entries: Exhibitors are limited to two entries in any class, but entries may be made in as many classes as desired; however, no fleece can compete in more than one class except for champion or special prizes. 4. Eligibility of Fleeces: In order to compete for prizes, each fleece must (1) have been shorn in 2015, (2) represent not more than 12 months growth and not less than 5 months growth except that in the case of yearlings, 16 months growth will be allowed, (3) purebred fleeces give registration number. 5. Qualifications: Any fleece entered in competition at the Wool Show will be discriminated against if: (a) Tied with other than paper twine. (b) Showing any paint or tar brands (soluble branding fluids permissible). (c) Showing excessive dung locks or tags. (d) Discolored by excessive moisture. (e) Matted. (f) Showing a weak staple or break in fiber (g) Containing any excess of burrs or other vegetable matter. 6. Preparation of Fleeces: The fleeces will be tied with paper fleece twine, flesh side out, in a manner to allow them to be handled without falling apart. 7. Delivery: Fleeces will be delivered to the superintendent of the wool show in the Art Hall from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July In case of any controversy relative to classification of any fleece offered for exhibition, affidavits from

6 6 the exhibitor may be required. However, in all such controversies and in any interpretation of these rules and regulations, the decision of the superintendents will be final. 7 SWINE SHOWMANSHIP RULES This special class is to teach Showmanship and Sportsmanship. All Junior Division Livestock Exhibitors are eligible to enter, ECEPT previous winners. You may win in each age division only once. You must be showing swine this year in order to participate. OPEN CLASS LEAD LINE Entry fee shall be $5.00 per entry with 100% payback in each age division as follows: first - 50%, second - 30%, third - 20%. There will be two age divisions, shown in order. Class 1: age 18 and under, Class 2, age 19 and over. The objective of this class is to present a class of sheep in the most attractive manner, to give spectators a real opportunity to view a class of beauty with beauty, and to improve the image of the sheep show. The entrant will be judged on the mode of dress selected, which must be attractive and lend elegance to the class. The garment must be made of 100% wool or a wool blend. Exhibitors must furnish their own garment. The garment can be either constructed by or for the contestant or purchased readymade. 7

8 8 JUNIOR SHEEP RULES AND REGULATIONS All entries in a class show at once, not individually. The same garment cannot be used in two different age divisions, but the same lamb can be used in two different divisions. Sheep must be shown at halter. This show is open to all exhibitors, male or female. All classes of sheep are eligible. The exhibitor does not have to own the lead line sheep. Each exhibitor must submit a typed or printed statement with their entry form containing the following information: Name of exhibitor, and brief biography Description of garment Description of animal History of the animal and/or breed This information will be read by the announcer as each exhibitor enters the show ring. This is an earned award. 4-H and FFA members are only allowed to earn one animal in their exhibiting career. He was so very proud of his children and their exhibits. Deny also served as a Scotland County Sheep superintendent for many years. The recipient of the Denny Clatt Memorial ewe will be selected by Denny s family. The recipient of this award must be enrolled in the sheep project and will be required to exhibit this ewe or her progeny at the Scotland County Fair in The current year winner will be required to provide a ewe lamb to be given away in Exhibitors are only allowed to win this award once during their 4-H or FFA career. The winning exhibitor will be required to post a sign in the ewes pen designating it as the Deny Clatt Memorial Ewe. This award stands alone and will not apply to the earned and give away animals.
