This show is rated by the American Driving Society and classes offered herein which are covered by the current rules and specifications of the American Driving Society will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith. Course will be suitable for antique vehicles. Length will be 4K. Possible shallow water crossing. Terrain is fields, hills, and woodland roads. Schedule: Sunday, Sept 25th, 8:00 a.m. Classes begin. Cones: Timed Obstacles will immediately follow Super Reinsmanship. Pick Your Own Route will run during the Ladies to Drive through Seniors to Drive, Classes Food will be available on grounds on Sunday Awards Offered: Ribbons 1st-6th Place and First Place Trophies; Championships: Champion and Reserve Champion awarded for Novice Pony, Novice Horse, Open Pony, Open Horse, Multiples and VSE s. Classes required for Championship points: Timed Obstacles, Working, Super Reinsmanship and Pleasure Drive Pace.

Go 6 miles to RTE 31 South Masonic Home Rd, turn right, (sign says Dudley, gas station on right). Follow RTE 31 for 7 miles to Dudley Southbridge Rd, turn Right, go 1/10 mile to Durfee Rd, turn Left, go 1/10th mile to Ziemba Rd Turn left. Ziemba Road becomes the driveway for Celtic Cross Farm. Total travel about 15 miles from Mass Pike to the farm. From Int. 395 going north or south, take RTE 16 west. 16 ends and becomes Rte 12 South. Follow Rte 12 South through Webster center approximately 2 miles. At junction of Rte 12 & Rte 197 (traffic light) go straight onto Rte 197 South, go 1.2 miles to 2nd light (Cumberland Farms.) Turn right onto Airport Rd. Go 7/10 mile to 1st stop sign, bear right onto Dudley Hill Rd, 1/2 mile to second stop stay straight onto Dudley Southbridge Rd, 1.3 miles to 3rd stop sign, go straight and take first left onto Durfee Rd, take first left onto Ziemba Rd. Ziemba road becomes the driveway for Celtic Cross Farm. Farm. Total travel about 6.5 miles from 395 to the farm.

4 Description of Classes: Working: A pleasure class which is judged primarily on the suitability of the horse to provide a pleasant drive. To be shown both ways of the arena at a walk, trot, working trot and strong trot. To stand quietly, both on the rail and while lined up, and to rein back. To be judged 70% on performance, manners, and way of going, 20% on condition and fit of harness and vehicle and 10% on neatness of attire. See ADS Rulebook, Chapter 14 Article 36. Super Reinsmanship: A class in which entries are judged individually on the ability and skill of the driver, to be shown at a walk, slow trot, working trot and strong trot. Drivers shall be required to rein back. Individual tests will be required. Super Reinsmanship Test 2 Notes: Competitors enter the ring individually and drive a short course of defined elements, in order, and at prescribed paces. The test will be set up for competitors to walk Sunday morning after the briefing and up until the start of classes. To be judged 75% on handling of reins and whip, control, posture, and overall appearance of driver, and 25% on the condition of harness and vehicle and neatness of attire. See ADS Rulebook Chapter 14, Class Specifications, Article 37B, Super Reinsmanship. Obstacles-Cones Driving: At the sound of the whistle, each competitor will have one minute to pass between the start gates. Timing will start when the nose of the Pony / Horse passes the start gates. The competitor will then proceed to drive through up to 20 consecutively numbered pairs of cones, in numerical order and then through the finish gates where timing will be stopped. Each pair of cones will be reset to give each Novice entry 40 cm of clearance, each Open entry 30 cm of clearance and each VSE 30 cm of clearance over the wheel base of their vehicle. See ADS Rulebook Chapter IV. Pleasure Drive Pace: Relaxed dress; whip, gloves and helmet are required. Terrain is rolling fields, woods, hills, woodland roads, possible shallow water crossing. All levels: 4 kilometers, 4 obstacles with numbered gates. Pick your own Route: To be driven over a course of obstacles (paired markers) with no set route. The number of obstacles to be proportionate to the dimensions of the driving area. Not to exceed 20 obstacles set up with 200 cm clearance. Junior Driver means age 14 and under, Juniors must wear a helmet when in the carriage, and must be accompanied by an adult passenger when driving. Volunteers are vitally important to the success of the Southern New England Carriage and Driving Association. Volunteers from all backgrounds of experience are appreciated. Horse experience is not a requirement and we welcome help in several diverse areas. (RIDC) the Massachusetts Carriage and Driving Society (MCDS) have combined to form the Southern New England Driving Association. Members of the new club are from all over Southern New England and nearby states and now have a common mission which is to foster and encourage good relations between all horse related organizations, to promote and co-ordinate driving shows and other activities, to formulate publicity and educational programs and other activities in the interest of driving enthusiasts and to promote, encourage and stimulate popular interest in driving and driving equines of any breed. As you are probably aware, these competitions are very costly to produce. Things such as ribbons, trophies, officials, postage, printing and all the little things that make the day pleasant add up to a large sum of money.
