2 RULES AND REGULATIONS All exhibitors are assumed to have read these conditions. Questions not covered by these conditions will be decided by the Show Committee. 1. The Committee reserves the right to cancel or amalgamate classes in the event of insufficient entries. If the show is cancelled by NPS Scotland entry fees will be refunded less 5 per entry to cover administration fees. 2. Entries must include the correct fees to be accepted. No substitution or nomination entries will be accepted. NO refund of entry money can be claimed under any circumstances. Any entries received after noon on the closing date (7 April) will be returned to pay online. On line entries (Entrymaster) will be open on the morning of the show Membership will be suspended immediately if Cheques made payable to the NPS, NPS Scotland or an NPS Affiliated show are not honoured by the bank If there is any money owing to the NPS, an NPS Area or an NPS Affiliated show If any trophies belonging to the NPS or an NPS Area are not returned by the requested date. A surcharge of 10 will be charged if replacement cheques have to be processed. 3. (a) An exhibitor may not knowingly exhibit a pony bred, sold, leased, produced, broken or trained by the Judge, and/or his/her immediate family or his/her employer or by anyone with who he/she resides. (b) A rider/handler may not compete in a Class judged by someone for whom he/she has exhibited in the show ring within the previous 12 months. (c) An exhibitor may not show under a judge for whom he or she has produced a pony within the previous 12 months. (An exhibitor is, the owner, the lessee or the person who produces and/or shows the pony.) 4. Exhibitors are requested to note the timetable. Where an animal is entered in more than one class, the Committee can take no responsibility if a clash in time occurs. 5. All Stallions and Colts, TWO years old or over, must be in possession of a current Ministry of Agriculture, NPS or appropriate Breed Society License. For Dales, Exmoor, Highland and Welsh, this rule is extended to THREE years old or over and for Shetland Ponies this rule is extended to FOUR years old or over. M&M Stallion and Colts, two years old or over, MUST be adequately bitted. For Riding Pony and Hunter Pony Breeding Classes, Stallions and Colts, 2 years old or over, must be suitably bitted in a snaffle type bridle. Handlers of stallions and colts in In-Hand classes must have attained their 14 th birthday before 1 st January of the current year. Ridden and In Hand stallions MUST display a stallion bridle marker available from the NPS office. 6. The Judge's decision is final. 7. Objections shall be made in writing within thirty minutes of the event concerned and lodged with the Secretary, together with the sum of which shall be returned if the objection is upheld. 8. Correctly secured BS Skull Caps/Riding Hats Nos BS 4472, 6473, PAS015 or EN1384 must be worn by riders at all times when mounted. Handlers of ponies in In-Hand classes aged 14 years and under must wear correctly secured current British standard skull caps/riding hats. 9. All animals must be sound. If, in the opinion of the Judge, an animal is considered to be unsound, the Exhibitor will be asked to withdraw from the Class. The Judge's decision is final. 10.Any animal found to be suffering from a contagious or infectious disease is to be removed from the Showground immediately at the request of the Show Committee. 11.Any animal not under control is to be removed from the Showground immediately at the request of the Show Committee. 2

3 12.The Show Committee or any of its assistants or stewards shall be in no way responsible for any loss, injury or damage that may happen to Exhibitors or their assistants or other member of the public, or to any animal or property or to any vehicle brought into the Showground or leaving same. 13.Anyone conducting themselves in a disorderly manner will be asked to leave the Showground. 14.Mountain & Moorland Ponies: In all M&M Classes, Ridden and In Hand, ponies must be shown as recommended by their Breed Society Rules and are restricted to the height limits laid down by their appropriate Breed Societies. 15.In ALL M&M Ridden and WHP Classes, spurs are NOT allowed. There is no age limit for riders in these classes, with the exception of Stallions and Colts when riders must have attained their 12th birthday before 1st January of the current year when riding small breeds and their 14th birthday before 1st January when riding large breeds. 16.In ALL classes, whips/canes must not exceed an overall length of 30" (75cms). A show cane is a plain or leather covered cane. If misused, in the opinion of the judge, an exhibitor may be sent out of the ring and may also be reported to the NPS Disciplinary Committee. 17.Where sufficient entries are forward, on the day of the Show, classes may be split by breed, age or height, as appropriate. 18 Small Breeds: Welsh Sections A & B; Shetland; Dartmoor; Exmoor Large Breeds: Highlands; Dales; Fell; Connemara; New Forest; Welsh Sections C & D 19. B.S.P.S. Classes (Classes 32-38) R.I.H.S. Qualifiers "This Show is affiliated to the British Show Pony Society (B.S.P.S. Affiliation No 16/018), and all persons entering, competing, showing or otherwise taking part in B.S.P.S. classes, whether or not members of the B.S.P.S. are subject to the Rules of the B.S.P.S., including the disciplinary procedures, and shall be deemed to have consented to the jurisdiction of the B.S.P.S." This Show is a qualifier for the R.I.H.S. Only one pony in each of the three Open Heritage Lead Rein and First Ridden, Open Heritage Ridden, and the highest placed, (not already qualified), from the first THREE ponies placed in each class will qualify. N.B. THE R.I.H.S. QUALIFICATION IS SUBJECT TO CONFIRMATION FROM B.S.P.S. HEAD OFFICE THE B.S.P.S. CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS This Show is a qualifier for the BSPS Champion of Champions, the Champion Mini Show Pony, the Champion Mini WHP, the Champion Open Show Pony, the Champion Open WHP/WH., the Champion Open SHP the Champion Open Intermediate and the Champion Heritage Mini, the Champion Open Heritage Ridden, and the Champion Heritage Open WHP will qualify. In Mixed height classes the first prizewinner will qualify. BSPS BEST RIDER This show is a qualifier for the BSPS Best Rider of the Year The Best Rider in the Open Heritage Lead Rein, First Ridden and to the best rider 25years and under in the Heritage Ridden classes will receive a Card and qualify for the final at the BSPS Summer Championships Show. Owners and riders must be B.S.P.S. Members before the date of the show to compete in classes with qualification for BLUE RIBAND, R.I.H.S., (including Pretty Polly and Heritage qualifying classes), and OLYMPIA., and animals must be registered with the BSPS. except for the Anglo and Part Bred Arabs who must be registered with the AHS. Membership forms and payment must be received in the office no later than the last working day (Monday to Friday) prior to the date of the qualifying show. (see Rule 22) 3

4 This Show is a qualifier for the 2016 B.S.P.S. Championships Show, to be held at Arena UK. The 1st and 2nd prize winners only in the following classes, (32-38), will qualify for the B.S.P.S. Championships Show, provided the animal is registered in accordance with Rules 23 and 28 and ridden by a BSPS member. Breed Affiliations. Mrs Lesley McNaughton-Wells has very kindly sponsored the show to be affiliated to the Dales Pony Society. A special rosette is offered by the Dales Pony Society for the best registered Dales pony shown by an exhibitor who produces a current membership card in the ring in the Open Ridden and over 4yrs In Hand classes. 5 This show host the following qualifiers:- NPS (Malvern) QUALIFIERS SP/SHP Ridden National Championship The Kellythorpe Stud SP-R NPS SCOTLAND QUALIFIERS RULES Ponies may only qualify once for each NPS Scotland Competition Final. 2. All Mountain & Moorland Ponies must be registered in the main body of their respective stud book. Part bred, X registered ponies and Eriskays are not eligible. 3. Qualification in the M. & M In Hand Section may go to 3 rd in the Championship. All others may go to no lower than 4 th place. 4. A Judge is not obliged to award an NPS Scotland Finals qualification if he/she feels that the pony is not of a sufficient standard 5. Closing Dates for Entries Competitors qualifying at Shows held before Monday 6 th June 2016 must send their qualifying cards and entries in by Thursday 30 th June Shows after 6 th June 2016 adhere to a closing date of 6 th August 2016 and Late Entries will NOT be accepted. 6. For Novice Classes Open to pure bred registered M&M stallions, mares and geldings four years old or over. A pony is not eligible to compete if, before 1st January in the current year, it has done any of the following: i. Won an open NPS affiliated mixed M&M Ridden class ii. iii. iv Won a Ridden class at an Olympia, Horse of the Year Show or RIHS qualifying round Qualified for Horse of the Year Show or RIHS Ridden classes Qualified for the M&M Novice or Intermediate Ridden final at the NPS Summer Championship Show and the NPS Scotland/Kilmannan Stud Novice Final at NPS Scotland Championship Finals (Blair) 5

6 (N.B. Ponies can compete as novices in this competition for two consecutive years provided they do not submit an entry to the final in the first year). v. Qualified for the M&M Ridden Championship final at Olympia in previous years vi. If a pony qualifies for Horse of the Year Show or RIHS in its second year it is immediately denoviced and cannot compete in the Picton or Kilmannan Stud Novice Finals Ponies must be shown in a snaffle bit. 7. Entry for the Finals can only be made by sending the official card duly signed by the Judge at the time of qualifying with your entry form. 8. The OWNER must be or become a member of NPS Scotland before entering the Finals. 9. M&M Novice ridden, Open ridden, Lead rein and First ridden classes are for ponies FOUR years old and over, M&M WHP classes are for ponies FIVE years old and over. 10. All ridden ponies must be shown off the lead rein except in the specified Lead Rein Qualifier Class. 11. M&M Lead rein ponies mares or geldings 4 yrs and over not exceeding 122cms. Dartmoor Exmoor, Shetland, New Forest, Welsh A and Welsh B. Riders not to reached their 9 th birthday by the 1 st January in the current year. 12. M&M First ridden ponies, mares or geldings 4 yrs and over not exceeding 128cms. Dartmoor Exmoor, Shetland, New Forest, Welsh A and Welsh B. Rider Riders not to reached their 12 th birthday by the 1 st January in the current year. 13. Max. Height for HP is 153cm at maturity and max. height for RP is 148 cm at maturity foal classes excluded. 14. The Final will take place at the Blair Castle International Horse Trials on Friday 26 th August EQUIFEST SHOW QUALIFIERS This show is affiliated to Equifest, taking place at the East of England Showground on August The two highest exhibits not already qualified in each affiliated class will qualify. NPS Spring Show - Class Sponsors We are very grateful to Sinclair Photography for their Class Sponsorship Can we please ask for further Class Sponsorship, 20 per class. 7 NPS Qualifying Rounds These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. Ponies must be registered in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books. Part breds are not eligible for Mountain & Moorland Classes. To compete in Show Pony and Show Hunter Pony classes ponies must be registered in the NPS British Riding Pony Stud Book, Register, Appendix, International or Sports Pony section of the BRPSB, the GSB, the AHSB, the AASB or in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books. Part-Breds are not eligible unless entered in the NPS British Riding Pony Stud Book, Register, Appendix, International or Sports Pony section of the BRPSB. Qualifying rounds for most NPS competitions are open to ponies owned by NPS members and nonmembers but only ponies owned by adult NPS Qualifying or Life members are eligible to qualify for the final of the competition at the NPS Summer Championship Show at Malvern from 2nd-4th August The highest placed pony, if owned by an NPS member, in each class will qualify for the final. Qualification may pass down to third place if the first and second ponies are already qualified. NPS/Rosettes Direct Home Produced Ridden Championship - Riders of Home Produced ponies (see definition in the NPS Rules Book) can wear a white arm band in classes where thisis indicated. These ponies, if owned by NPS members, are then eligible to qualify for the final at the NPS Summer Championship Show. The Owner s Membership cards MUST be produced in the ring when requested or the qualification will be forfeit. NPS Silver Medal Rosette Championships NPS Silver Medal Rosette Championships: These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. NPS Silver Medal Rosettes are only awarded when the owner of the champion pony is a Qualifying or Life member of the NPS. A valid membership card must be in the rider s/handler s possession on entering the ring and be produced immediately on request by either the judge or the steward. If the owner of the Champion pony is not a member, or the owner s membership card is not immediately produced, the rosette may be awarded to the Reserve Champion provided they have the required membership card. If the Champion pony has previously qualified it is still entitled to the Silver Medal Rosette but the qualification card goes to the Reserve Champion pony, provided the owner of that pony is a member of the NPS. The Silver Medal Rosette and the qualification card can be awarded no lower than first Reserve (third). Foals are not eligible for Silver Medal Championships. Qualifiers are entitled to compete in the final of the Silver Medal Rosette Championship to be held at the NPS Summer Championship Show 2nd-4thAugust NPS SCOTLAND MEMBERSHIP Please note that anyone joining NPS Scotland from the 1 st October will automatically get membership until December the following year (a 15 month Membership). Joining fees are as follows: Membership fee for NPS Scotland plus a joining fee of 5.00 Total Current Members of NPS (National) to also join NPS Scotland. NPS/Rosettes Direct Home Produced Ridden Championship wear white arm bands. Mini M & M Championship Class 16 TINY TOTS FIRST RIDDEN Open to Mountain & Moorland ponies, SHP and Show Ponies. Mare or gelding 4 years old and over not exceeding 12.0hh (122cms). Riders not to have attained their 9 th birthday before 1 st January in the current year. Suitable bridles only. Spurs not allowed. Canes/Whips must not exceed an overall length of 30" (75cms). IN HAND CLASSES REGISTERED MOUNTAIN & MOORLAND IN HAND Judge: Miss J E Paterson, Jasmine Cottage, 25 High Street, Podington, Northamptonshire NN29 7HS The NPS/LEYHILLS M&M In Hand Summer Championship (MM-IH) These classes are open to pure bred registered M&M ponies in the main body of their studbook. Owner s membership cards must be shown in the ring to receive qualifications. Foals are not eligible. NPS Scotland/Townhead Pet n Pony In Hand Mountain & Moorland Championship. The Champion & Res. Champion in all Mixed pure bred M. & M. or Breed Championships will qualify for the Final which will take place at the Blair Castle International Horse Trials on Friday 26 th August Qualification may go to 3 rd in the Championship (ie 1 st Reserve Champion) EQUIFEST MOUNTAIN & MOORLAND IN HAND The two highest exhibits not already qualified in each class will qualify.
