3 Cover Photo by Aline de Seez A lovely Rainbow graces the Tir Righ February Investiture Archery Competition FROM THE CHRONICLER This past month saw the ascension to the Storm Thrones of Christian and Helene. The new year is now well under way and as we head towards spring we look forward to the tourney and camping season and would love to have more of your photos to share with others. The good news is that while the photographers release form is required, model releases are no longer needed in the SCA. From the October 2012 Board Meeting: Their Highnesses Tir RIgh Christian and Helene purely informational, it qualifies. SCA participants including officers are no longer required to go through the onerous and debilitating and ultimately futile process of attempting and failing to get model releases for every captured model from the photographer as long as it is for informational or promotional purposes and not for commercial purposes. If the individuals or SCA is contacted by any party wising to remove the photo or video, the SCA will comply promptly. Since our newsletter is not commercial but CHANGES TO SENTINEL INFORMATION Changes to listings and branch information in the Sentinel must be sent to the Tir Righ Chronicler by the appropriate Principality Officer. We do not mine the mailing lists nor accept changes from un-authorized sources. Items for inclusion in the Sentinel may be sent to chronicler@tirrigh.org If you see an out-of-date item, please let the appropriate Principality Officer know about it. 4 Chronicler Tir Righ The Tir Righ Calendar of Events - Tir Righ follows the Kingdom of An Tir's calendar policy and procedures. - All Date Reservation and Event Information forms for events within Tir Righ need to be submitted to Tir Righ's Calendar Deputy. - Any information for your event can be submitted to the Tir Righ Web Team, who can create a simple page for you. You can also have them link to your existing information page, or host pages you've created. Note: The official calendar with is the Kingdom Calendar. Any discrepancies between this calendar and the Kingdom's should be resolved in favour of the Kingdom's, and reported to the Principality. 7 Tir Righ June Coronet June 07, 2013 to June 9, 2013 Shire of Lionsdale Langley, BC Heed the call of Their Highnesses Christian and Heléne to gather and bear witness to a grand tournament to decide the successors to the Storm Thrones. The Shire of Lionsdale welcomes all to watch history unfold, while we celebrate our own history in the 10th Anniversary of our fair Principality of Tir Righ. Other festivities during the event will include a Knight's Invitational Tourney, Equestrian Games, Archery, Rapier, Bardic, Arts and Sciences classes, a Consorts Tea Party and more. Preregistration is available and encouraged. Preregistration must be postmarked by May 15. Make checks payable to "Shire of Lionsdale". FEES: Adults $20 ($5 NMS applies), Youth (13-18) $10, Children 12 and under Free, Family Cap $50. Merchant fee: $10 Site opens 2:00 pm Friday & closes at 5:00 pm. Sunday. There is potable water on site. Alcohol is permitted. Attendees must pack their garbage out when leaving. Fires in raised personal braziers & smoking in designated areas only. Branches should be getting their EIF forms and event copy in much sooner than they have been. Exchequer - Financial Statements YTD Current Balance on Feb 15 is $ Tir Righ has had income of $0.00, and expenses of $ resulting in net loss of $ Storm Travel fund is $628.50, Tir Righ Travel Fund is $ College of Heralds Fund is $ The ledger balance is $ meaning there is $ in general funds. No current payables. Shittemwoode finally submitted lawsuit tithe. SCA settled with Insurance Provider which will result in a partial return of the lawsuit tithe for all branches Budget was discussed. Chamberlain Some confusion with NMS rules. Explained NMS rules for events. Arts & Sciences Absent report sent. Name finally updated in the Sentinel. SWEET WEEPING KITTENS ON A POGOSTICK.PLEASE SEND JAMES SOME PICTIRES FOR THE COVER!!!!! In October, we held our annual A&S/Bardic competition in Kelowna, BC. We had 12 entries in A&S (3 Full Competitors & 3 singles), and 8 entries in Bardic (3 Full Competitors & 2 singles). All entries were excellent and a fantastic representation of the Arts in Tir Righ. The victors that day were Porzia di Corbino Rossi for A&S... and Viscountess Chiara Fiamma for Bardic. - I have not yet followed up with Ciana di Libri on the progress (if any) of replacing the ailing A&S Champion s Cloak. I believe she and the current A&S Champion are talking about what to do. We have also talked about making Champion s Baldric for the Bardic Champion as well. The current cloak is WOOL and very heavy and hot to wear in the summer. No further progress on that front though. - I also haven t yet had a chance to talk to Eireann Deerslayer about her offer of A&S Deputy-ship. - No changes to the A&S/Bardic website since I last updated. I still need photos from Tir Righ A&S/Bardic from Oct. There has been a little more traffic to the site however, which is good. - I attended An Tir Performing Arts Grand Ithra in Nov. in Madrone where I taught 2 classes. I also dragged down Wulfstan Hrafnsson and Chiara Fiamma to teach classes as well. All classes and teachers from Tir Righ were well received so Tir Righ s word fame spreads far and wide. After that event, we were asked to look into hosting the same event here in Tir Righ. We have been looking for suitable events to attach the event to and/or suitable venues. Shittemwoode so far has been approached about the event and seem amenable to it. Nothing yet had been planned. - Only 8 branches reported this last quarter.

9 - I've been busy planning Kingdom A&S/Bardic Championships March 2, wrangling judges, coordinating schedules with the autocrat and Mistress Katherine atte Moure, the Kingdom A&S Mistress... Chatelaine Nothing much going on. Almost everyone reported - regular ones missing (Shittemwoode and Coill mohr) will be putting out a request for resumes for my replacement for August shortly. Chronicler Reporting stable. Newsletters are seeing some significant improvement. Still need work on submissions and readership. Looking for deputy chronicler and will start looking for replacement in the new year. Need new readers. Survey only saw 11 people respond. New Social Media Policy for the SCA is out. Marshal Sir Kheron has returned. No major injuries to report. Branch marshals send waivers to kingdom. Herald Absent. Deputy reported. Symposium granted to Ramsgaard. New Herald s pavilion approved. Discussion ensued as to where it is stored and by whom. TUTR Not present. False Isle Tutr had 18. Positively received as well as potential new members. Officers who are planning to be absent from Curia must notify the Principality Seneschal and Their Highnesses in advance. Reports should sent electronically.
