3 Important Information Responsibility: It is the rider, or person responsible, obligation to read and understand the conditions for this event as published in this schedule. ESNZ Registration for Graded Classes: Entries will not be accepted without ESNZ rider and horse registrations current to the 2 December Annual Dressage start only needed for to enter all DNZ Series, Island or National Championships, Horse of the Year, and international events other classes may be entered using a flexi start. Rules: All competitions will be run under the current (2018) ESNZ GR s, VR s and ESNZ Rules for Dressage. Official start time: The official event start time is 7.30 am Friday 25 January This is the start time for the period of jurisdiction for all Equestrian Sport New Zealand (ESNZ) General Regulations, Veterinary Regulations and ESNZ Dressage rules. Please note Dressage NZ rule 477 prohibited gear is not allowed from the time of arrival at the event. Finals of Series Qualifiers: Premier League Shows are qualifiers for the Bates National Dressage Championships and Horse of the Year. Points can be gained for the Super 5 League, Zilco Musical Freestyle Series, Prestige Futures Prize, AMS Pony Young Rider Performance League. Riders wishing to accrue points in any Dressage NZ Top 10 League must have been registered online at Equestrian Entries prior to 1st December Music for Freestyles: Please ensure this is handed to the music caravan at least two hours prior to the start of your class. Music must be either be saved on a CD as an either MP3 or video file. Event Conditions 1. Amendments: The Organising Committee (OC) reserves the right to alter the programme/schedule and/or prize money within the ESNZ and DNZ Rules. 2. Presentation of Prizes and Prize Money: See DNZ Rule article 485. a. All riders must attend advertised presentations. The organising committee reserves the right to withhold prize monies should a placegetter not attend an advertised prize giving. b. The organising committee reserves the right to substitute prize money with goods to the equal value. c. All prize money will be paid by direct credit within 21 days of the event. The OC reserves the right to withhold prize monies should a place getter not attend an advertised prize giving. Riders who have conflicting class times must nominate another person to Sally Steele (Office Manager) via the event office to collect their prizes/rosettes at the prize giving. Please ensure your bank account details are loaded on equestrianentries, this is your responsibility as we will not be contacting you if you have not listed it. No prize money will be paid after 19 January Prize money will be paid on scores 57% and above. 3. Prize Giving: Unmounted for all classes. Times will be advised in the Programme. 4. Draw: If required, a revised draw and/or start times for the following day s competition will be available by 7.00 pm on the results board. It is the rider s responsibility to check any new times posted. 5. Equal Placings: In the case of equality in any qualifying class, the higher collective marks will determine the higher placing. If the competitors are still equal, then the higher co-efficient marks will determine the placings. If there is still an equality of points, the competitors are given the same placing. 6. Riders with more than two horses: The OC will make every effort to ensure that riders have at least 60 minutes between rides. However, if this is not possible owing to the scheduling of classes, the maximum time possible between rides will be allocated. 7. Helmets: ESNZ approved and tagged riding helmets must be worn at all times, at all levels, during the competition. 8. Non Competing Horses: All horses and ponies on the grounds after the official start time must be entered at the event unless the organising committee gives permission otherwise. 3

4 9. Liability: a. Competitors and spectators attending this event do so at their own risk. b. South Island National Equestrian Centre, Dressage NZ or Dressage Canterbury nor any representative of these bodies, accepts any liability for any loss, damage, injury or illness to horse/pony/rider, spectators, land, vehicles or any personal property whether caused by their negligence or breach of contract in any way whatsoever. c. South Island National Equestrian Centre, Dressage NZ or Dressage Canterbury shall not be liable for the safety of any goods/equipment or the loss of, or damage to such, brought in/stored at the venue, during the event. 10. Health & Safety: a. Dressage Canterbury is committed to providing and maintaining a safe and healthy event for all participants and for providing the information, training and supervision needed to achieve this. b. All competitors and associated staff/visitors to the venue must abide by the ESNZ/Dressage NZ Rules, the Dressage Canterbury and SI National Equestrian Centre Health & Safety Policy s and the Health & Safety at Work Act c. Copies of the event Health & Safety policy can be found at the event office. d. Any incident or near miss must be reported to event office and an incident form completed. e. Any hazards identified must be reported to the event office. f. Competitors will be responsible for their safety at all times and must observe safe practices and follow event rules and officials instructions at all times, ensuring that others are not put at risk by their actions. 11. ESNZ Concussion Policy: Dressage Canterbury is required to run all events under the ESNZ Concussion Policy Guidelines. Entry Conditions 1. Entries close for South Island Festival of Dressage on Monday 7 January 2019 at 8.00 pm. 2. Enter online at ed or phone entries will not be accepted. 3. Entry is not accepted until payment is made. 4. Direct credit/cheque payments must be made by close of entry for entry to be accepted. 5. Class changes after close of entries will only be permitted if room allows and will incur a $5.00 Class Change fee per class. Any changes are to be done through the change request on Equestrian Entries. 6. Payment to be made to Canterbury Dressage Account: with name and rider ESNZ registration number as reference. 7. Cheques posted to Charmaine Racke, 48 McKays Road, RD 1 Christchurch Entry fee cheques will not be banked before the closing date of entries. 9. Draw will be available at with the latest up-to-date version available Thursday 24 January Horses and ponies are restricted to three starts per day. Riders are limited to three horses. 11. Withdrawals and refunds must be submitted on the attached form to gain a refund. Entry & Event Fees Rider Event Levy $25 per rider, or $60 for a family of 3 or more, non refundable, includes an event Programme. Horse Accommodation Fees Horse accommodation and camping covers arrival from Thursday 24 January to departure on Sunday 27 January. Outside these dates additional charges will be incurred direct to SINEC. Please contact SINEC direct to book additional dates. Combinations are eligible for one level of Championship only. 2. Young Rider Award: Open to riders on horse or pony. Rider must be 20 years or under as at 1 st August Please state at time of entry to be eligible. 3. Masters Award: Open to riders on horse or pony. Riders must be aged 50 years or over as at 1 st August Please state on entry to be eligible. 4. Pony Award: Open to ponies, rider must be 16 years or under as at 1 st August Ribbons will be awarded for 1 st to 4 th placing within the class. Please state on entry to be eligible. 5. Hanoverian Society Award: Two awards presented Level 1-3 and Level 4 and above. The award will be presented to the highest-level Hanoverian champion, if no champion then the reserve. If there is neither the Sash will lapse for that grade this year. Horses must be registered with NZ Hanoverian Society. Please state at time entry to be eligible. Championship Points Levels Championship points are allocated 20 for 1st, to 1 for 20 th in all classes. 2. Points are allocated 30 for 1st to 1.5 for 20th in all classes denoted by ** 3. Champions and Reserves: The horse with the highest aggregate allocated points from specified classes will be the Championship winner. In the event of a tie, the combination with the highest place in the ** class is the winner. If there is still a tie, the combination with the highest aggregate collective marks in the final qualifier will be the winner. If there is a further tie, the combination with the highest average % in the final ** will be the winner. Championship Points Young Riders Award, Masters Award and Pony Award Championship points are allocated as below. 1. In the event of a tie, combination with the highest average % will be the winner. If there is a further tie, the horse contesting the highest level will be the winner. All Competition Arenas are closed at all times except as stated below. 2. These times may be amended please check times in rider notes provided with the draw. 3. Arena familiarisation is not intended to be used as a full schooling session. 4. Riders need to be considerate of other riders wishing to familiarise their horses. 5. Lunging to be in the lunging arena only. 6. Horses may be hand walked or ridden at walking pace around the exterior of the competition arena unless advised otherwise by the Technical Delegate. 7. Arena familarisation time: Friday 25 January am am. Horse Identification, Venue, Stabling, Accommodation Conditions 1. Approved Dressage NZ Horse/Pony identification numbers must be worn at all times when competing. 2. When not competing, it is compulsory that horses/ponies are identified with ID tags also that include, person responsible name and mobile phone contact number. 3. All yards and stables are to be left properly mucked out. If not a fee of $50 will be charged. 4. Temporary yarding must comply with ESNZ rules. 5. Please keep wash down bays clean at all times. 6. Moving horses to unallocated yards or stables is prohibited without permission of the Stable Manager. 7. Please use the skips provided for horse waste not rubbish, wheelie bins are provided for rubbish only. 8. No smoking in any buildings or stable areas. 9. Damage to SINEC facilities to be reported to the Event Office. Dogs 1. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times and must not be within ten metres of the competition areas. 2. The owner of the dog will be responsible for the cost of any damage/harm caused by the dog at the competition. Camping & Power Sites 1. Trucks and campervans requesting power must have a valid electrical certificate and under no circumstances will allow other vehicles to connect to their vehicle via extension cords. 2. Please be tidy and use green wheelie bins for all rubbish no animal waste in green bins. 3. Waste and grey water tanks must only be emptied in designated waste water dumps. 6

The well-being of the horse shall be above the demands of breeders, trainers, riders, owners, dealers, organisers, sponsors or officials. All handling and veterinary treatment must ensure the health and welfare of the horse. The highest standards of nutrition, health, sanitation and safety shall be encouraged and maintained at all times. Adequate provision must be made for ventilation, feeding, watering and maintaining a healthy environment during transportation. Emphasis should be placed on increasing education in training and equestrian practices and on promoting scientific studies in equine health. In the interests of the horse, the fitness and competence of the rider shall be regarded as essential. All riding and training methods must take account of the horse as a living entity and must not include any technique considered by the FEI to be abusive. National Federations should establish adequate controls in order that all persons and bodies under their jurisdiction respect the welfare of the horse. The national and international Rules and Regulations in equestrian sport regarding the health and welfare of the horse must be adhered to not only during national and international events, but also in training. Competition Rules and Regulations shall be continually reviewed to ensure such welfare. 7

The winner of each age group will ride in the Canterbury Saddlery Young Horse Showcase on Saturday, late afternoon. There will be a short judges commentary while the horses are in the arena, followed by the presentation of a sash to the overall winner. The overall winner is the combination with the highest submission score. If a rider scratches before payment is made, payment is still required to be made for the rider event levy and the Equestrian Entries on-line fee. 4. Stabling and camping fees will be refunded. Otherwise 1. Ground Fee and Entry Fees (excluding Rider Event Levy and Online Entry Fee) if vet or doctors certificate provided.
