1 SLIN 18 Conference: Useful information The conference will mark the thirtieth anniversary of the foundation of the SLIN group, which put the Italian scientific community on the map of international research on the History of the English Language. The group has been active since its first conference in 1988, co-hosted by Thomas Frank in Naples and Nicola Pantaleo in Bari. Since then, the SLIN group has had regular conference and publication activities, and as founding members are sadly leaving us or more joyfully just enjoying retirement, new members have joined and are joining our network. Registration will open one hour before the start of the conference. The conference fee is E 120,00 and includes conference materials, coffee breaks and the guided tour of the town centre (see below under social Programme ). Accommodation Conference participants are kindly asked to make their own arrangements. Please see the attached list of hotels that apply special prices for events in the University. Venue and directions The conference takes place at Palais Claudiana in the heart of Innsbruck s old town. How to get there: - From the airport: you can either get to the venue by bus (a 12 min. ride + 5 min. walk), take Line F towards Innsbruck Baggersee, get off at Anichstraße/Rathausgalerie, walk up Maria- Theresien-Straße until you reach the tourist attraction Goldenes Dachl, then turn left into Herzog-Friedrich-Straße, or by taxi (costs: around 15 Euros). - From the main station: head straight into Salurner Straße and walk up the street until you reach the Triumphal Arch ( Triumphforte ); from here, turn right into Maria-Theresien-Straße and follow the directions above. - From hotel Goldener Adler: leave the hotel through the main entrance; Palais Claudiana is right opposite from Goldener Adler. In Herzog-Friedrich-Straße 3 (in front of Palais Claudiana), look for the arch with a sign pointing to Stadtarchiv. Enter the courtyard through here. You will find the entrance to Claudiana in the left-hand corner. Look out for SLIN signposts.

This will take place on Friday afternoon at 4 pm. More info will be given at the conference. Please indicate in your registration form if you would like to take part in the tour! For organisational reasons, it would be a great help if we could know in advance how many people are joining. The conference Dinner will take place on Friday March 16 th, at 8 pm, at the Restaurant Goldener Adler. Prices for the dinner are E 45,00 (main course can be pre-selected: pork, chicken or fish) / E 35,00 for the vegetarian menu. Please indicate in your registration which menu you prefer and if you have any further dietary requirements.
