The contest will stream live online on the Ivy League Digital Network. SCOUTING PENN Penn (1-1) looks to rebound at home Wednesday following a 12-6 loss at No. 10 Duke over the weekend. Senior Iris Williamson, who leads the team with five goals, scored a game-high four against the Blue Devils in a losing effort. The Quakers began the season with a win at Delaware on Feb. 20. Senior Nina Corcoran, a Tewaaraton Watch List and Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American selection, holds the Penn points lead with seven (3g, 4a), followed by Williamson (5g). Corcoran set a new Penn record for assists in a single season with 40 in Junior Britt Brown has started each of the first two contests in cage for Penn and has a 9.73 GAA and.486 save percentage. Freshman Katy Junior paces the Quakers defensively with four caused turnovers and six ground balls. THE SERIES Rutgers leads Penn, 9-7, in the all-time series between the two teams, but the Scarlet Knights have lost two-straight and five of the last six to the Quakers. RU fell to No. 13/13 Penn last season, Kim Kolodny paced the squad with a hat trick. Three Tied (5) Saves Leader:...Britt Brown (18) RU S LAST TIME OUT Rutgers women s lacrosse and visiting Delaware traded punches with multi-goal runs throughout the game, but the Blue Hens ultimately prevailed, 13-9, at High Point Solutions Stadium on Feb. 27. Delaware scored five of the first six goals to begin the second half to put the game out of reach for Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights got production from multiple players on the attack, led by junior Kristina Dunphey, who scored a hat trick and tallied an assist. LEADING THE KNIGHTS INTO BATTLE Rutgers women s lacrosse announced its captains for the 2016 season. Leading the Scarlet Knights onto the field will be seniors Halley Barnes, Addington Elliott, and Taylor Pennell. 100-POINT WATCH Senior attack Halley Barnes continues to move closer to the 100-point mark for her Rutgers career. With 78 points (60g, 18a) for her career, she is just 22 shy of becoming the 20th Scarlet Knight to reach the century mark. Senior attack Kim Kolodny is also within reach of 100 points for her RU career. With 73 points (57g, 16a) for her career, she is just 27 shy of the century mark. QUICK ON THE DRAW Sophomore Alana Navaroli collected a career- and game-high six draw controls against Delaware on Feb. 27. The six draws were the most for a Scarlet Knight since Megan Clements tallied six on March 29, 2014 against Villanova.

2 GAME NOTES /// WELCOME TO B1G SHOW Freshman attack Emily Santana saw the first action of her RU career at Monmouth. She scored twice on two shots and added two ground balls and a caused turnover. Her first goal was a rocket slung from near the 12-meter fan. BREAKOUT PERFORMANCE There was no denying Kristina Dunphey against Villanova. The junior scored a game-high five goals and led all players with three ground balls to lead Rutgers women s lacrosse to a 14-8 win. MULTI-GOAL OUTINGS Senior Halley Barnes and junior Kristina Dunphey lead the Scarlet Knights with three multi-goal games this season. It was the second consecutive game an RU player set a new career-high, as Kristina Dunphey scored five goals in the season opener. THE BRAND-SIAS FILE In 2014, Laura Brand-Sias recorded her 100th career victory On the Banks. She is the winningest coach all-time in Rutgers women s lacrosse history. Anna Marie Vesco, who coached from 1994 until Brand-Sias began in 2003, is second all-time in program wins with 81. B1G PLAYERS TO WATCH Representing Rutgers on the Big Ten Women s Lacrosse Players to Watch list were sophomore midfielder Amanda Casten, junior midfielder Kristina Dunphey, and redshirt senior midfielder Kristin Kocher. Casten started 14 games as a rookie in 2015 and led all underclassmen with 15 ground balls. Dunphey provided a spark on the attacking end for Rutgers with 14 goals and seven assists, including two scores on the free position. Kocher, a 2015 captain and watch list member a year ago, begins her fifth year On the Banks as the most experienced Scarlet Knight on the roster. For her career she has played in 45 games and scored 31 goals, and has secured 16 draw controls in each of the last two seasons. STIFF COMPETITION According to the NCAA s Toughest Schedule report to end the 2015 season, Rutgers women s lacrosse boasted the fourthtoughest schedule in the nation and toughest slate in the Big Ten. The Scarlet Knights opposition in 2015 had a record (.668 winning percentage). No. 1 Maryland, which finished the year as national champs, had the fifth-toughest schedule with an opposition record of (663). That challenge does not dwindle in Staying true to playing the best competition year-in and year-out, Rutgers will face seven opponents No. 1 Maryland, No. 5 Penn State, No. 6 Northwestern, No. 13 UPenn, No. 15 Ohio State, No. 17 Johns Hopkins, and No. 20 James Madison that finished the 2015 season ranked in the Intercollegiate Women s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Coaches Poll. All seven of those programs qualified for the 2015 NCAA Tournament. FIRST B1G WIN A hat trick performance from then-sophomore attacker Amanda Turturro and seven saves from goalkeeper Candice Dandridge guided RU to a 7-6 victory at Michigan on April 26 in the season finale. The win secured the No. 5 seed in the 2015 Big Ten Tournament for the Scarlet Knights. TAKE FIVE Senior Halley Barnes sparked the RU attack on numerous occasions and recorded two five-point games in The first was a career-best five-goal performance against Monmouth (Feb. 25) before she posted two goals and three assists against Temple (March 11). LUCKY NUMBER SEVEN Junior Kristina Dunphey posted the best single-game performance for RU in points last season, recording a hat trick and four assists at James Madison on March 14. 3 GAME NOTES CONT. /// WELCOME TO OUR HUMBLE ABODE Rutgers lacrosse now calls High Point Solutions Stadium its home after debuting in the stadium full-time in Formerly known as Rutgers Stadium, the facility underwent a 102-millon dollar expansion to increase the capacity to 52,454 in Contests not played at the stadium will take place at the RU Turf Field. The Scarlet Knights earned their first-ever win in program history at High Point Solutions Stadium against James Madison on March 15, ON THE RIGHT FOOT Rutgers has won its season opener in four-straight years. The Scarlet Knights topped Villanova 14-8 to start 2016 and 10-7 to begin 2015, opened their home slate at 3-0 in 2014 for just the fifth time in program history and in 2013 got off to a 5-0 start. RUTGERS IN SEASON/HOME OPENERS The Scarlet Knights are all-time in season openers and all-time in home openers. Rutgers has won three consecutive home openers. BACK ON THE BANKS RU returns 20 letterwinners from a year ago, which includes over 65 percent of its scoring. The Scarlet Knights top returning scorers are seniors Kim Kolodny (26g, 6a) and Halley Barnes (20g, 9a). JERSEY STRONG Eighteen of the team s 31 roster spots are filled with Jersey natives. That accounts for nearly 60 percent of the squad RECRUITING CLASS Rutgers women s lacrosse signed five student-athletes to RUTGERS UNIVERSITY QUICK FACTS National Letters of Intent, head coach Laura Brand-Sias in December. The distinguished group, consisting of Samantha Budd, Brianna Cirino, Jordan Drab, Monica Dresnin, and Samantha Scarpello will join the Scarlet Knights for the 2017 season. This class presents a great mix of pure grit and athleticism along with an impressive skill set, Brand-Sias said. Each member brings a passion for competition and a tireless work ethic that is exactly what our program embodies as we continue our quest in the Big Ten. BIG TEN PRESEASON COACHES POLL Entering the second season of Big Ten lacrosse, Rutgers was selected to finish tied for fifth in the league with Michigan. Two-time defending national champion, Maryland, was the unanimous pick to win the conference this season. From second to fourth place, the coaches projected the standings to be Penn State, Northwestern, and Ohio State. B1G TRADITION Big Ten women s lacrosse features teams that have won 25 national championships and 21 of the 34 NCAA championships, including 10 of the last 11. B1G CHAMPIONSHIPS AT HIGH POINT Rutgers hosted the inaugural Big Ten Women s Lacrosse Tournament at High Point Solutions Stadium from April May 3, marking the first Big Ten Tournament hosted by Rutgers University as a member of its new conference. 6 HEAD COACH LAURA BRAND-SIAS Rutgers head coach Laura Brand-Sias completed her 13th year at the helm of the program in 2015 after leading the Scarlet Knights into the inaugural season of Big Ten women s lacrosse. With more than 100 career victories On the Banks, Brand-Sias remains committed and determined to building a program that competes among the nation s elite. Brand-Sias emphasizes the importance of developing her players on the field equally as much as producing quality character away from the game. Once a star for Rutgers women s lacrosse in her own right, the former Scarlet Knight has her current squad continuing to make strides on and off the field. Through 13 seasons as head coach, Brand-Sias has mentored 34 all-region selections, as well as 34 all-conference honorees (One All-Big Ten, 33 All-BIG EAST). Academically, the Scarlet Knights continued their storied success in the classroom. Rutgers received IWLCA Academic Squad honors for the 2015 season the program s ninth year in a row receiving the distinction since This past spring, the NCAA recognized the program for its continued achievement of academic excellence. Rutgers has earned an Academic Progress Rate (APR) Public Recognition Award in each of the last four seasons dating back to the academic year. In the latest GSR reports released last fall, Rutgers received an excellent score of a 97. Additionally, several of Brand-Sias former players have assumed roles on coaching staffs at various programs throughout the NCAA and beyond. Recent 2014 graduates who gained coaching positions include Katrina Martinelli at Wagner, Amanda Trendell at Manhattan and Megan Clements at Durham University in England as a player-coach graduates Lily Kalata (Manhattan, University of Vermont), Annie McGinley (Liberty University), Rachel Schneeberger (Nazareth College) and Rachel Welch (King s College) have also been named assistant coaches. Other members of Brand-Sias coaching tree include: Eileen Ghant 11 at Monmouth University, Mary Moran 11 at Drexel University and Brittany Davis 12 at Adelphi University (formerly at Central Connecticut State University). The historic 2015 season brought with it numerous program firsts. Rutgers gained its first Big Ten Conference win at Michigan, 7-6, on April 26 to close the regular season before hosting the University s first Big Ten Tournament as a member of the conference from April 30 May 3 at High Point Solutions Stadium. Senior midfielder Lauren Sbrilli closed her career on a high note, earning her second consecutive Intercollegiate Women s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Mid Atlantic Second Team selection. The Scarlet Knights leading scorer became the first player in program history to earn All-Big Ten accolades. Brand-Sias came to Rutgers following one season as head coach at Fairfield University (2002), where she led the Stags to a 10-7 overall record. Fairfield advanced to the 2002 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament championship match, finishing the season with a perfect 6-0 record in league play. In only one season with the Stags, Brand-Sias s high-powered offense was ranked seventh nationally with a goals-per-game average. Defensively, Fairfield finished first in the MAAC and 11th in the nation in scoring defense, allowing opponents to score an average of just 8.59 goals per game. As a player, Brand-Sias starred as a four-year letterwinner at midfield for Rutgers ( ), helping to lead the Scarlet Knights to their first-ever national ranking and an NCAA Tournament appearance in Following her graduation, Brand-Sias remained with the program, serving as an assistant coach, where her responsibilities included working with the offense, recruiting, on-field instruction and administrative duties.brand-sias continued to excel following her collegiate days as a member of the Canadian National Lacrosse Team from She was a starter for the 2001 Canadian World Cup squad that placed fourth, losing to England in the bronze-medal game. Her athletic career began at Radnor (Pa.) High School, where she played three years of lacrosse and field hockey. With the lacrosse team, Brand-Sias was named the squad s Outstanding Athlete of the Year as a sophomore, junior and senior, in addition to serving as the team captain in Also a standout field hockey player, Brand-Sias was named captain her senior year and was recognized as a Senior All-Star. She was named to the all-league and all-county second teams. An all-around athlete, Brand-Sias spent her winters running indoor track. She received the High School Master of Sports Award. She also founded Brand Elite, L.L.C., where she serves as the President and CEO, running various lacrosse camps and clinics throughout the summer. Brand-Sias received a dual bachelor s degree in sociology and psychology from Rutgers University in She and her husband Jim Sias reside in Somerset, N.J.
