2 TONIGHT S GAME Penn State welcomes Lehigh to the Penn State Lacrosse Field for a 7 p.m. matchup. SEASON-HIGH HOMESTAND The Nittany Lions will begin a seasonhigh three-game homestand against the Mountain Hawks. Penn State will play Ohio State Sunday, April 14 before concluding the homestand vs. Lafayette April 17. ALL-TIME VS. THE MOUNTAIN HAWKS The Nittany Lions, who are 21-0 all-time against Lehigh, faced the Mountain Hawks once a season from before restarting the series during the 2009 season. LAST SEASON VS. LEHIGH Midfielder Theresa Zichelli led Penn State with a game-high five points (3g, 2a) as the Nittany Lions dominated Lehigh, 15-3, at Ulrich Sports Complex April 11. Elaine Welch, Molly Fernandez and Mackenzie Cyr collected two goals each. Final Stats (PSU-Lehigh): Shots (33-21), Ground Balls (17-12), Turnovers (15-14), Saves (12-8), Draw Controls (11-9), Caused Turnovers (5-9). SCOUTING THE MOUNTAIN HAWKS Junior goalkeeper Alexandra Fitzpatrick ranks 12th in the NCAA in saves per game (8.62). Senior midfielder Julie McBrien, one of four Mountain Hawks with at least 10 points, leads Lehigh with 30 goals, 33 points and 21 draw controls. Sophomore defender Kelly Scott paces the team with 22 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers. SPREADING THE WEALTH Eight Nittany Lions have recorded at least 10 points, while Penn State boasts one 40-point scorer, one 30-point performer and two 20-point players. Sophomore attacker Maggie McCormick (26g, 20a) and junior attacker Mackenzie Cyr (22g, 14a) are the only Lions with double-digit goals and assists. Freshman midfielder Jenna Mosketti (20gb, 20dc, 13ct) and senior defender Katie Guy (29gb, 19dc, 20ct) are the only Nittany Lions with at least 10 ground balls, draw controls and caused turnovers. LIONS FALL TO NORTHWESTERN Seeking its second straight win against a top-five team, Penn State fell to No. 3/4 Northwestern, 11-3, at Lakeside Field April 5. Molly Fernandez,Tatum Coffey and Kelly Lechner scored the PSU goals. Final Stats (PSU-NU): Shots (10-21), Ground Balls (13-15), Turnovers (13-11), Saves (2-4), Draw Controls (6-10), Caused Turnovers (8-10). CYR NEARS TOP 10 Junior Mackenzie Cyr s 60 career assists put her in a tie for 12th place on the program s all-time list. She needs just one helper to break into the top 10. The Westminster, Md., native extended her team-best point-scoring streak to 18 games with one assist against Northwestern. Cyr, who ranks second on the team in goals (22), assists (14) and points (36), has recorded at least three goals in five games this season. Penn State trailed, 9-6, at halftime but outscored the Gators by a 10-2 margin in the second. Tatum Coffey recorded a game-high five points (4g, 1a), while six players recorded multi-point games. TRIO EARNS WEEKLY HONORS Sophomore midfielder Tatum Coffey earned WomensLax.com Co-Player of the Week honors after five points (4g, 1a), two draw controls, one ground ball and a caused turnover against the Gators. Freshman Jenna Mosketti earned her second ALC Rookie of the Week award. Mosketti scored twice, including the gamewinner, and corralled a game-high four ALC STANDINGS Team ALC Overall Northwestern PENN STATE Florida Johns Hopkins Ohio State Vanderbilt draw controls. Senior defender Colleen Shea was named ALC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time after helping hold Florida to two second-half goals. She also recorded a game-high two caused turnovers. McCORMICK REACHES MILESTONE Sophomore Maggie McCormick recorded her 100th career point with two points against Drexel March 22. CYR SENDS LIONS PAST DREXEL Junior Mackenzie Cyr scored the gamewinning goal with 36 seconds remaining as Penn State edged Drexel, 9-8, March 22. Drexel erased a three-goal deficit to tie the game with 54 seconds left before Cyr s heroics. Sophomores Tatum Coffey and Kelly Lechner paced PSU with three goals each, while senior Katie Guy also scored. GUY, MOSKETTI HONORED BY ALC Senior Katie Guy and freshman Jenna Mosketti were named ALC Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, March 19. A Whitby, Ont., native, Guy collected six ground balls, four draw controls and five caused turnovers against Cornell and Vanderbilt. Mosketti collected seven points (5g, 2a), seven ground balls, five draw controls and four caused turnovers. Both Guy and Mosketti were honored for the first time in their careers. PENN STATE FALLS TO MARYLAND Sophomore Maggie McCormick scored a team-high four goals, but Penn State fell to top-ranked Maryland, 20-10, in College Park March 9. The Terrapins opened the game on a 5-0 run. Penn State made it a five-goal game with 23:50 left in the second, but Maryland finished the contest on a 7-2 run. McCORMICK STRIKES AGAIN Sophomore Maggie McCormick set a career high with six goals and matched her career-high eight points in Penn State s victory against James Madison March 6. LECHNER EARNS PAIR OF HONORS After an eight-point weekend (5g, 3a) against Duquesne and then-no. 6/8 Virginia, sophomore midfielder Kelly Lechner was named the WomensLax.com Player of the Week and ALC Offensive Player of the Week. Lechner matched her career high with four points in both games. She also tied a personal best with three goals against Duquesne. HIGHEST RANKING SINCE 2007 The Nittany Lions improved to No. 7 in the IWLCA poll March 5 as they earned their highest ranking since being tabbed sixth during the 2007 season. LIONS KNOCK OUTLAST VIRGINIA After trailing by an 8-5 halftime margin, the Nittany Lions netted 10 second-half markers as it edged No. 6/8 Virginia, 15-14, at Klöckner Stadium March 3. Sophomore midfielder Kelly Lechner recorded a career-high four points (2g, 2a) for the second straight game, while junior Mackenzie Cyr, who added an assist, notched her third three-goal game of the season. PENN STATE DOMINATES DUQUESNE Ten Nittany Lions scored in a 16-9 victory against Duquesne Feb. 27. Sophomore attack Maggie McCormick paced the team with six points (1g, 5a), while junior Mackenzie Cyr and sophomore Kelly Lechner, who matched her career high, scored three goals each. Junior Evan Foulsham recorded a career-high five draw controls. McCORMICK SETS CAREER HIGH Sophomore attack Maggie McCormick notched a career-high five assists against Duquesne Feb. 27. LIONS FALL TO LOYOLA The Nittany Lions fell to No. 6/10 Loyola, 13-11, at Ridley Athletic Complex Feb. 23. Penn State took a 7-6 halftime lead but the Greyhounds opened the second stanza with four straight tallies. Maggie McCormick (2g, 1a), Jenna Mosketti (2g, 1a) and Mackenzie Cyr (3a) led Penn State with three points each. COFFEY NAMED TO WATCH LIST Sophomore midfielder Tatum Coffey was named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List Feb. 22. The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top men s and women s U.S. college lacrosse player. LIONS OPEN 2013 WITH WIN The Nittany Lions defeated Bucknell by a 16-goal margin for the second straight season with an 18-2 victory Feb. 20. Ten different Nittany Lions recorded at least one point, while goalkeeper Emi Smith garnered the victory in her collegiate debut. STELLAR DEBUTS Several Nittany Lions starred in their collegiate debuts. Midfielder Jenna Mosketti tallied three goals, attack Madison Cyr recorded two points (1g, 1a) and midfielder Ally Heavens added a free-position goal. DUO TABBED ALL-AMERICANS Sophomore midfielder Tatum Coffey and junior midfielder Lizzy Carney were tabbed Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-Americans. Last season, Coffey was the nation s only freshman to be named to an All-America team (third). OFFENSIVE PUNCH With the graduation of only three starting seniors, the Nittany Lions returned 79.9% of their scoring from a season ago. Sophomore Maggie McCormick led the 4 FIVE-TIME NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

5 Nittany Lions with 59 points and 30 assists, while senior Molly Fernandez paced the squad with 35 goals. BACK FOR MORE Although still a young team, Penn State returns its category leaders in each major category with the exception of ground balls. EXCLUSIVE COMPANY Senior midfielder Katie Guy and sophomore midfielder Tatum Coffey are the only two returning Nittany Lions to record double-digit ground balls, draw controls and caused turnovers in FAMILIAR FACES Penn State returns 17 letterwinners, as well as eight starters, in The Nittany Lions lost starters Dana Cahill, who was the ALC goalkeeper of the year, and midfielders Aly Adams and Theresa Zichelli to graduation. SISTER ACT Penn State boasts three sets of sisters - the Cyrs, Lechners and Foulshams - on the 2013 roster. OH CAPTAINS, MY CAPTAINS Seniors Molly Fernandez and Katie Guy and junior Lizzy Carney will serve as the Nittany Lion captains during the 2013 season. NEWCOMERS Penn State welcomes eight newcomers to the squad, including seven freshmen. Three Nittany Lions freshmen - Madison Cyr, Heather Harman and Ally Heavens earned US Lacrosse All-America honors during high school. DOHERTY ENTERS THIRD SEASON Head coach Missy Doherty enters her third season at Penn State with a career record and a mark in Happy Valley through Last season, she led the Lions to their first NCAA tournament appearance since MATTHEWS JOINS STAFF Former Northwestern standout Brooke Matthews joined the Penn State staff June 21, As a player, she helped the Wildcats win three national titles (2008, 2009, 2011). In 2012, she served as an assistant coach at Mount St. Mary s. SCHEDULE BREAKDOWN Penn State will play eight opponents that are ranked in the IWLCA preseason coaches poll. After their opener against Bucknell, the Nittany Lions will embark on a season-high three game road trip.
