Hofstra vs. This Week s Opponents vs. Mount St. Mary s (0-0) First Meeting Coach Morgan: Abby Morgan, a three-year assistant coach for the Pride, became the eighth women's lacrosse coach in school history on August 7, In her first season at the helm, she led her team to a 12-7 overall record, a 6-1 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) mark, the team's first CAA championship and its second-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. Morgan brings a career record into her third season at the helm. The Pride was ranked 16th in the final IWLCA Poll of the 2007 season, the team's highest final ranking in program history. Morgan also saw one of her star players, Kimberly Hillier, named a third team All- American and get selected to play on the United States Developmental Team. The 2007 squad finished the year ranked 22nd in winning percentage (.632) and was 23rd in the nation in scoring defense (10.16 GAPG). In 2008 Hofstra compiled a 7-9 overall record and a 4-3 mark in the CAA. Hofstra finished in a tie for fourth in the conference and beat two squads ranked in the top 20 during the season. In addition, the Pride had four players named to postseason All-CAA teams, including two members of the All-CAA first team.

2 Streaks and Trends: Hofstra has won six of their last 11 going back to Hofstra had won 14 of its last 15 home games against Colonial Athletic Association foes. Hofstra has defeated at least two ranked opponents in each of the past four seasons. The Pride is 14-3 in its last 17 overtime contests, and has won four straight extra session games and six of its last seven overtime games. Hofstra was picked fifth in the poll. Towson, the defending conference champion, received all seven firstplace votes as coaches weren't allow to vote for their own team. William & Mary, which lost to Towson in last year's CAA title game, received one first-place vote and finished second in the poll with 38 points. James Madison tallied 32 points and was picked third, while Delaware and Hofstra followed closely with 31 and 30 points, respectively. It was the most by any team in the conference. Earning preseason honors from the CAA were Corrine Gandolfi, Stephanie Rice, Lauren Whitcomb and Alysse Ruszkowski. Gandolfi and Alysse Ruszkowski were first team All-CAA honorees last year, while Whitcomb was a second team pick and Rice earned allrookie honors from the conference.
