CONFERENCE NOTES: Twelve earn iwlca all-region honors: A total of 12 CAA women s lacrosse players were named to the Intercollegiate Women s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division I All-Region teams. Three standouts were recognized with first-team honors out of the Mid-Atlantic Region. They were; Hofstra junior defender April Iannetta, the 2014 Defender of the Year for the second consecutive season and a pair of Towson Tiger studs, redshirt junior Andi Raymond and redshirt senior Ashleigh Rohrback. UD s Andrews named finalist for yeardley love reynolds award: Delaware redshirt freshman Elyse Andrews was named a finalist for the 2014 Yeardley Reynolds Love Unsung Hero Award. The non-profit group is dedicated to ending relationship violence while the award was created in 2011 and is given to one male and female Division I lacrosse player that shares similar qualities that Yeardley is still remembered for. Andrews is majoring in medical diagnostics and is involved with many groups off campus, including Delaware Christian Athletes, Alpha Phi Omega, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and recently won the University of Delaware Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences Alumni Sophomore Award. Second half Towson rally comes up short in ncaa first round: CAA Champion Towson outscored Stony Brook 8-1 in the second half, but fell to the Seawolves, 10-8, in the first round of the 2014 NCAA Women s Lacrosse Tournament. The Tigers were led by junior Taylor Moore s hat trick as well as redshirt junior Andi Raymond s two-goal, one-assist effort in the setback. Towson faces familiar foe in ncaa first round matchup: After winning the 2014 CAA Women s Lacrosse title earlier on Sunday afternoon, the Towson Tigers found out their NCAA Tournament fate late Sunday evening. The Tigers will play Stony Brook University (16-3, 4-1) on Friday, May 9 in Syracuse, N.Y. at the SU Soccer Stadium. The winner of that contest will face the host and No. 2 overall seed Orange on May 11. In last year s NCAA First Round, the Seawolves beat the Tigers 8-6 to end their season. Tigers Three-peat at #caachamps: The Towson Tigers made history with their CAA title win at the 2014 Women s Lacrosse #CAAChamps. Previously, five teams had won as many as two straight league titles before TU became the first to claim the trophy in three consecutive seasons. All-CAA teams announced: On Thursday, May 1 the league announced its major award winners for the 2014 season at an awards banquet prior to the start of the championship tournament. James Madison junior Stephanie Finley and Towson redshirt junior Andi Raymond were named CAA Co-Players of the Year, Hofstra junior April Iannetta earned Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season, while Towson head coach Sonia LaMonica was tabbed Coach of the Year and Tigers freshman Gabby Cha earned Rookie of the Year recognition. The future of the league certainly looks bright, as 10 the 12 first team members return in UD-JMU Come together to support one love foundation: On April 11, the Blue Hens and Dukes squared off in a pivotal CAA game, but came together in connection with the One Love Foundation. The teams wore special shirts prior to the contest to help raise awareness and concern for domestic violence. It was also to remember and honor former UVA women s lacrosse player Yeardley Reynolds Love CAA WOMEN S LACROSSE

TU, making its seventh NCAA appearance, battled back after a 9-0 halftime deficit, but simply ran out of time. The Tigers also fell to the Seawolves in the NCAA First Round last year by two goals, 8-6. Junior Taylor Moore scored three goals and 2014 CAA Co-Player of the Year Andi Raymond, a redshirt junior, scored twice and dished out one assist in defeat. One weekend earlier at the College of William & Mary, Towson overcame James Madison, 12-11, in overtime to capture the program s third straight league title -- the first CAA team to accomplish the feat. Redshirt freshman Michelle Gildea scored with 35 seconds remaining -- her first goal of the championship tournament, allowing the Tigers to hold on for the historic win. JMU, appearing in the title contest for the fourth time in the last five seasons, was led by 2014 CAA Co-Player of the Year Stephanie Finley and redshirt senior Megan Piotrowicz, both of whom recorded hat tricks in defeat. Towson s Raymond scored three times and dished out two assists in the win. Raymond played a large part in helping TU advance to the title game, scoring the game-winner in a 6-5 win versus Hofstra on Friday with just eight seconds to spare. Madison outlasted Delaware, 13-9, in Friday s second semifinal. Nearly two weeks after the 2014 CAA Championship, US Lacrosse announced its tryout pool for a chance to make the U.S. National Team. Impressively, a total of six current CAA women s lacrosse standouts, and two former players, will take part in the three-day tryout process from June at Georgetown University. Making the list among current CAA lacrosse players was James Madison s Stephanie Finley, Lexi Cross and Schylar Healy, Hofstra s April Iannetta and Kelsey Gregerson and Towson s Kelsea Donnelly. The Dukes had one former player named to the tryout pool as well in Kelly Berger (Rabil). Hofstra graduate (2011) Katie Hertsch was the other former CAA stud invited to the tryout.
