Young went to Princeton where she earned a B.A. in psychology while being a two sport athlete; playing both soccer and lacrosse. During her four years on the lacrosse team, the Tigers made two appearances in the NCAA Tournament, in 2000 playing in the national championship game and in 2001 the national semifinals game. She was a three-time IWLCA All America, 4-time All-Ivy selection winner, and named Ivy League Rookie of the Year. During her senior year, she was named a top five finalist for the Tewaaraton Award, which is annually awarded to the most outstanding American college lacrosse player. Game time is scheduled for 4 pm SERIES HISTORY Friday marks the 22nd overall meeting between the two schools with the all-tome series favoring Rutgers Rutgers, was a member of the BIG EAST Conference through the 2014 season but the two teams have continued to play each other. During their final BIG EAST Conference meeting in 2014, the Wildcats claimed their only victory over the Scarlet Knights. Last year in the season opener at Rutgers, the Wildcats fell to VILLANOVA THIS SEASON The Wildcats return to the turf after a 9-8 overall record last year, while going 4-3 in BIG EAST play. Prior to the start of the season, graduate student Jackie Froccaro (Sands Point, N.Y.) was named the 2016 BIG EAST Preseason offensive Player of the Year and junior defender Sam Scarfogliero (Seatuck, N.Y.) was named to the All-BIG EAST Preseason Team. overall the Wildcats were picked to finish fifth in the league in the BIG EAST preseason poll as voted upon by the conference coaches. Villanova returns 24 letterwinners from 2015 and adds a talented class of 8 newcomers who will push to make an immediate impact. The Wildcats welcome back 73% of their total points (166 of 227 points) and 76% of the team s goals (122 of 160 goals) from the 2015 season. A LOOK AT RUTGERS Rutgers is opening their season at Villanova. Last season the team went 2-16 and lost in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. During the 2016 season the Scarlet Knights will face seven opponents who finished the 2015 season ranked in the Intercollegiate Women s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Coaches Poll RUTGERS OFFENSE Kim Kolodny was Rutgers second leading goal scorer last season, she finished with 26 goals. The team top goal scorer Laura Sbrilli, finished with 36 goals has graduated. RUTGERS DEFENSE Taylor Pennell, Addington Elloit, and Amanda Casten contributed almost 25% of the teams ground balls last season. This season the team will be starting a new goalkeeper, both of the goalies last season are no longer on the team. THE LAST MEETING The Wildcats played a strong first half during last years meeting, going into halftime up 5-4. Three goals by Rutgers in 5 minutes gave them a lead that the Wildcats couldn t catch up too. The Scarlet Knights topped Villanova Defensively, Jaclyn Fraum had an outstanding game for Villanova and registered 12 saves in the loss. Then senior Jackie Froccaro lead Nova in goals with two and she also had a team high four ground balls in the matchup.

During the Wildcat victory in 2014 she finished with a career high 15 saves, last season she collected an impressive 12 saves. SEASON OPENERS Villanova is 4-2 (.666) in season openers since joining the BIG EAST in 2010 HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE Villanova holds a (.45) regular season record since joining the BIG EAST in QUALITY COMPETITION As of the IWLCA preseason poll, the Wildcats will face three ranked opponents this season. Albany was selected #20 in the poll, Villanova will travel to Albany march 13th. Right after the Wildcats will return home to take on #4 Duke on march 19th. The only BIG EAST team to receive as preseason ranking was Florida, who are currently ranked #7. FROCCARO NAMED BIG EAST PRESEASON OFFEN- SIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR Graduate student Jackie Froccaro was named BIG EAST Preseason offensive Player of the Year, she is coming of a 2015 season where she had 49 goals, which helped her earn the title of BIG EAST Attacker of the Year. SCARFOGLIERO NAMED TO BIG EAST PRESEASON TEAM Junior Sam Scarfogliero was selected to the BIG EAST Preseason Team, last season she was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team. She lead the Wildcats in both ground balls with 34 and caused turnovers with 27. WILDCATS FIFTH IN PRESEASON POLL Villanova was picked to finish fifth in the BIG EAST according to the league's 2015 preseason coaches poll. Florida was selected to win the league with five first-place votes. Rounding out the order of finish was Uconn, Georgetown, Vanderbilt, Villanova, Temple, marquette, and Cincinnati. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own teams. This is the 6th season for BIG EAST women s lacrosse. Florida won the conference title last year after defeating Uconn in the BIG EAST Championship. WILDCATS NAME 2016 CAPTAINS Graduate student Jackie Froccaro, senior Chelsey Henderson, senior Tierney Griff, and senior meghan Breen NOVA NATION Villanova s 32-woman roster hails from five different states. The states most represented are New York with 12 and New Jersey with 11.

The eight conference schools that participate in the league are Florida, Cincinnati, Georgetown, marquette, Uconn, Vanderbilt, Temple, and Villanova. Villanova already is a member of the BIG EAST in 22 other sports. LOOKING BACK Villanova went 9-8 and 4-3 in BIG EAST play just one season ago. The team qualified for their first BIG EAST Tournament is school history. Then senior Jackie Froccaro was named BIG EAST Attacker fo the Year. Joining her on the BIG EAST postseason team was senior Jessica mucci on the All- BIG EAST First Team and one the All-Second team was junior meghan Breen and sophomore Sam Scarfogliero. Froccaro finished the 2015 season with 49 goals, this is fourth most in a season in program history. She also has 99 goals in her three completed seasons so far at Villanova to tie her for seventh overall. Jessica mucci, who Young coached for four years at Villanova, now holds the all-time assist record with 102 during her career as a Wildcat. mucci also holds the highest amount of assists in one season with 39 during her sophomore year (2013). Another first for the team was beating a ranked opponent in Delaware, who was national ranked #19 at the time, came to Villanova Stadium where the Wildcats handed them their first road loss of the season by a final of over the last two seasons, Villanova has posted a winning record. Last year, they finished 9-7 and 4-3 in the BIG EAST. Their nine win season was the most wins since It was a strong victory over fellow BIG EAST team Vanderbilt in the regular season that gave the Wildcats their playoff spot. With two late goals, the first with 4:35 and the last with 0:04; both scored by mucci and assisted by Froccaro that gave the Wildcats the lead and the win. This win guaranteed the Wildcat s the #4 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament. Young went to Princeton where she earned a B.A. in psychology while being a two sport athlete; playing both soccer and lacrosse. A two-time Tigers soccer captain, three time mvp, four time All-Ivy selection, and three time mid-atlantic Regional All America, Young was named the C. otto von Kienbusch Award winner during her senior year. This is awarded annually to a Princeton senior woman of high scholastic rank who has demonstrated general proficiency in athletics and the qualities of a true sportswoman. During her four years on the lacrosse team, the Tigers made two appearances in the NCAA Tournament, in 2000 playing in the national championship game and in 2001 the national semifinals game. She was a three-time IWLCA All America, 4-time All-Ivy selection winner, and named Ivy League Rookie of the Year. During her senior year, she was named a top five finalist for the Tewaaraton Award, which is annually awarded to the most outstanding American college lacrosse player. Following her time as a student athlete, Young played for the USA Women s Lacrosse National Team from while also being an assistant coach at the University of Pennsylvania starting in During her six years at Penn, Young assisted head coach Karin Brower and helped the team to five consecutive winning seasons. During the 2007 season the team made it to the semifinals and in 2008 the national championship game in the NCAA Tournament. Young coached seven All-Americans during her time at Penn and helped coach the team to back-toback undefeated seasons in the Ivy League. In 2008, Young took her first head coaching position at Haverford College, after her first season she was named Centennial Conference Coach of the Year (2009). The following two seasons she led the team to the program s first conference tournament. In 2010, the team set the highest single season win total in program history with 13. For the first time in 11 years during the 2011 season one of Young s players was named to the IWLCA All-American team. Young moved down the road to Villanova University in 2012 to take over as the head coach for the women s lacrosse program. During her four complete seasons as a Wildcat Young has built the program into BIG EAST Tournament contenders. Young is also active in the local lacrosse community. She is the founder of the Philly Blast Lacrosse Club and the co-director of the BaggataGirls. She was also a founding member the Philly Women s Lacrosse League, which gives the opportunity for post-collegiate player to continue to play lacrosse.
