The Raiders took Princeton to three games in its opening round playoff series but ultimately lost, 2-1. The Raiders are already a game deep into their schedule after dispatching Niagara at home, 5-1, last weekend. The Raiders return just over 60 percent of their goals scored from the season, led by Jared Cockrell, who had six markers on the year. Overall, the lead returning scorer is Bobby McMann, a sophomore, who posted 19 points as a rookie thanks to 14 assists and five goals. Cockrell is right behind him on that list after finishing with 17 points overall as a rookie. Colton Point, a Dallas Stars draft pick, returns for his sophomore season after ending the season on a hot stretch a 2.07 GAA and.936 save percentage in his final six appearances. He finished the year with a 2.45 GAA and.918 SV% overall in nine starts. The Raiders struggled to put the puck in the net last season after averaging only 2.11 goals per game, the fifth-worst scoring average in the country. Colgate was slightly better defensively, ranking 38th (3.05). Colgate s special teams featured the nation s 35th-best power play (17.6) and 22nd-best penalty kill (83.3). Don Vaughan, entering his 25th year at the helm of the Raiders, is nine wins shy of 400 for his career after starting the season with a record. UP NEXT The Warriors and Raiders round out their weekend series on Saturday night back at the Class of 1965 Arena at 7:30 p.m. Next weekend, Merrimack welcomes the University of Wisconsin to campus for the first time in school history when it hosts the Badgers as part of Homecoming Weekend on Saturday (Oct. 21) night. The Warriors won the opener by a slim, 4-3 margin, before blowing the Raiders out by three goals in a 5-2 victory. Special teams helped Merrimack pick up the win in the opener after scoring a power play goal and a shorthanded goal early in the first and second periods, respectively. With the game tied at 2-2, Brett Seney broke the tie with the game-winner late in the second period before the Warriors added two late goals to pull away in last year s second game. BEST AGAINST THE RAIDERS No Warrior has seen more than two games worth of action against Colgate, and all of those games were played last year. Senior Jace Hennig and junior Ludvig Larsson each have three points in their careers against Colgate, as both have scored once and assisted twice in two games. Junior Drew Vogler is the only goaltender with experience playing Colgate in his career. He won both starts in A WRAP ON Merrimack enjoyed another successful season in that included 15 overall victories, a second consecutive seventh-place finish in the league standings, a home playoff series and several marquee victories against nationally ranked opponents along the way. Merrimack endured an up-and-down first half that was highlighted by a Homecoming Weekend sweep of Colgate, a victory over Cornell at home, the first-ever road win against perennial power Wisconsin, and a thorough victory against eventual NCAA Tournament participant Providence College. The second half of the season featured a trip to the Sunshine State to play in the Florida College Hockey Classic and an early victory against eventual Frozen Four participant Notre Dame before the Warriors caught fire with an eight-game unbeaten streak that was the second-longest of the Division I era. Merrimack not only swept top-ranked Boston University for the first time in a regular season series as members of Hockey East, but also took the season series against Boston College after a convincing road win at Conte Forum, marking the first time in program history that the Warriors took the regular season series against both BU and BC. Merrimack finished seventh in the league standings for the second year in a row, drawing the University of New Hampshire in the Hockey East Tournament s Opening Round for the second consecutive season, as well. And while Merrimack topped UNH, 4-0, in Game 1, the Wildcats would eventually win the series to stop the Warriors bid for a third straight appearance in the Hockey East Quarterfinals. 30 FOR SENEY Senior Brett Seney returns at the team leader in points after registering 31 as a junior (10g, 21a). Seney was also the first Warrior in four years to pass the 30-point threshold. The last Merrimack skater to post at least 30 points in a season was Mike Collins 14, who did so as part of a 38-point season that saw him earn All-America honors in Seney has led the team in scoring in each of his first three seasons; if he hits the 40-point threshold as a senior, he will become the first Warrior to do so since Stephane Da Costa put up 45 points in his sophomore season in

He played over 53 percent of the team s minutes and finished in 21 starts. Those numbers were even better from January 1 onward, when he ranked in the top-10 nationwide in both categories. Delia, however, signed a professional contract with the Chicago Blackhawks over the summer, concluding his career with a 2.48 GAA, a.912 SV% and a record in 55 starts over the course of three seasons. SMOKIN SAMI Few Warriors were hotter than Sami Tavernier down the stretch last season, as the then-freshman forward led the team with 13 points (5g, 8a) over his final 13 games. Before that point, Tavernier had only six points (3g, 2a) in the first 23 games of his collegiate career. During that 13-game surge, Tavernier posted a seven-game point streak that featured five goals and four assists. From Jan. 24 onward, Tavernier ranked sixth nationally (second in Hockey East) among all rookies in total scoring. POWER PLAY: A TALE OF TWO S Merrimack s power play was a tale of two seasons in In the first half, through 17 games, the Warriors were ranked 55th nationally with the man advantage, converting only 11 of its first 105 opportunities (10.5%). There was one point where Merrimack did not score a power play goal in eight straight games, going most of November and December without converting. But then, something clicked, as Merrimack scored at least one power play goal in 12 of its final 19 games. From Dec. 28 onward, Merrimack owned the 16th-best power play in the country, operating at 21.3 percent (16-75). MR. CLUTCH Brett Seney scored six of Merrimack s winning goals last season, the most among all Warriors. Seney finished the year two goals back of the nation s leader in game-winning goals, Jarid Lukosevicius of Denver. Among all active players nationwide, Seney is tied for second in career game-winning markers with 10. Landon Smith, Quinnipiac 11 Jarid Lukosevicius, Denver 10 Brett Seney, Merrimack 10 Gerry Fitzgerald, Bemidji State 9 ROAD WOES Merrimack finished with a losing record away from Lawler Rink for the fifth year in a row after going on the year. Included in that mark is a mark at neutral sites. Merrimack did, however, post its best league road record (4-4-3) since the That year, Merrimack went It took the Warriors seven games to post a road win last year, which was the longest time needed to win a road game since when the team started on the road. SPECIAL TEAMS STRUGGLES Merrimack finished in the bottom third nationally in both special teams categories in The Warriors concluded the year with the 46th-best power play (15.0) and ranked 45th on the penalty kill (79.66). The penalty kill allowed at least one goal in 26-of-37 games. 3

4 MERRIMACK COLLEGE MEN S ICE HOCKEY LOOKING FOR A RALLY Merrimack was just when allowing the opposition to score first last year. Since the start of the season, the Warriors have conceded the game s first goal 67 games and have just 10 wins in those games ( ,.231 winning percentage). Merrimack was also when trailing after the first period and when down after 40 minutes. THREE OR NOTHING Three has been the magic number, so to speak, in terms of Merrimack goals needed to win games over the last five years. Last season alone, Merrimack was when scoring three or more goals in any games compared to when scoring two time or fewer. Since the start of 2012, Merrimack is (.792) when scoring 3+ goals, compared to (.190) when being held to two goals or fewer. STRONG WITH THE LEAD Over the last four years, Merrimack has lost only seven games when scoring the first goal, which it has done in 46 games. Last year, the Warriors were when scoring first. Merrimack was when holding a second-period lead (9-1-1 w/ first-period leads) in A SURE THING Since the season, Merrimack is when holding a lead after two periods of play. The last time the team squandered a two-period lead and lost was on Nov. 30, 2013, at Yale; in that game, Merrimack had a 1-0 lead after 40 minutes before falling in overtime, 3-2. NO OFFENSE, BUT... Since finishing the season ranked fifth nationally in scoring offense averaging 3.67 goals per game, Merrimack has finished no higher than 35th in that category in any of the six seasons that have followed. Merrimack has been in the bottom third nationwide in scoring in five straight years, falling as low as 57th in (1.88). Last year, the Warriors ranked 46th with 2.43 goals per game. THERE S NO PLACE LIKE HOME Merrimack finished with a record at Lawler Rink this year (.525), marking the third straight season with a winning record at home and the eighth time in the last 10 years. Compared to other teams nationally, Merrimack has ranked 34th (.525), 28th (.605), 14th (.667), 42nd (.467) and 28th (.583) in home winning percentage since In the Mark Dennehy era, Merrimack is (.543) at home, including a mark (.635) since LARSSON-Y Senior Alfred Larsson was dominant on the dots last year, owning the third-best faceoff win percentage in Hockey East 19th-best mark nationally with a record (58.0%). REJECTIONS Merrimack posted double-digit block totals 19 times last year. The Warriors ranked 51st nationally and eighth in Hockey East averaging blocked shots per game last season. Jared Kolquist led all Warriors with 56 blocked shots last winter, 13 more of the next-closest skater SINGLE-GAME HIGHS/LOWS Merrimack Team Highs POINTS 18 at Boston College (2/10/17) GOALS 6 at Boston College (2/10/17) ASSISTS 12 at Boston College (2/10/17) SHOTS ON GOAL 46 vs. New Hampshire (3/5/17) SAVES 44 vs. New Hampshire (3/4/17) PENALTIES 12 vs. Colgate (10/21/16) PENALTY MINUTES 31 vs. Colgate (10/22/16) Opponent Team Highs POINTS 15 vs. UMass Lowell (12/10/16) GOALS 6 at New Hampshire (10/29/16) ASSISTS 10 vs. UMass Lowell (12/10/16) SHOTS ON GOAL 38 3x, MR: vs. Maine (2/17/17) SAVES 44 2x, MR: vs. New Hampshire (3/5/17) PENALTIES 16 vs. Sacred Heart (10/09/16) PENALTY MINUTES 40 vs. Sacred Heart (10/09/16) Merrimack Team Lows POINTS 0 4x, rec. vs. New Hampshire (3/4/17) GOALS 0 4x, rec. vs. New Hampshire (3/4/17) ASSISTS 0 4x, rec. vs. New Hampshire (3/4/17) SHOTS ON GOAL 17 at UMass Lowell (12/9/16) SAVES 12 vs. Northern Michigan (12/29/16) PENALTIES 1 at UMass Lowell (12/9/16) PENALTY MINUTES 2 at UMass Lowell (12/9/16) Opponent Team Lows POINTS 0 3x, rec. vs. New Hampshire (3/3/17) GOALS 0 3x, rec. vs. New Hampshire (3/3/17) ASSISTS 0 3x, rec. vs. New Hampshire (3/3/17) SHOTS ON GOAL 14 vs. Northern Michigan (12/29/16) SAVES 14 at Boston College (2/10/17) PENALTIES 2 2x, rec. vs. Notre Dame (1/14/17) PENALTY MINUTES 4 2x, rec. vs. Notre Dame (1/14/17) POINTS GOALS ASSISTS SHOTS SAVES Individual Game Highs 5 Hampus Gustafsson at Boston College (2/10/17) 3 Hampus Gustafsson at Boston College (2/10/17) 3 Marc Biega at Boston College (2/10/17) 3 Brett Seney at Boston College (2/10/17) 3 Jared Kolquist vs. Boston University (1/24/17) 3 Alex Carle vs. Mercyhurst (11/4/16) 9 Sami Tavernier vs. Northeastern (1/21/17) 37 Collin Delia at Boston University (1/27/17) PENALTIES 3 Johnathan Kovacevic at Clarkson (10/14/16) PENALTY MINUTES 15 Hampus Gustafsson vs. Cornell (1/7/17) 15 Michael Babcock vs Colgate (10/22/16) rec. = most recent 4

10 MERRIMACK COLLEGE MEN S ICE HOCKEY MARK DENNEHY Head Coach 13th Season The and All-New England Coach of the Year, Mark Dennehy is in his 13th season at Merrimack team in In his more-than decade on campus, Dennehy has completely rebuilt the brand of Merrimack Warrior Hockey, elevating the program from an era that saw it struggle from a competitive standpoint into a Hockey East contender year in and year out The last two seasons have been some of Dennehy s most masterful behind the bench, as he and his coaching staff have led Merrimack to back-to-back seventh-place finishes in the league standings, which resulted in the Warriors earning home ice in the first round of the Hockey East Tournament in successive seasons. Merrimack has never hosted playoff series in back-to-back years since joining Hockey East prior to this recent run. Following an up-and-down first half of the season, Dennehy helped right the ship in the second half thanks to a historic eight-game unbeaten streak -- the second-longest such streak in the Division I era -- that propelled the Warriors to their eventual seventh-place finish in the league standings. Along the way, Merrimack made history with a series sweep of then-top-ranked Boston University, marking the first time ever that the Warriors swept BU in any regular season series in addition to their back-to-back topplings of a No. 1-ranked team. Shortly afterward, the Warriors secured a series victory against Boston College after defeating the Eagles on the road for the first time in nearly 20. Altogether, Merrimack secured series victories over both BC and BU for the first time ever as part of that impressive eight-game unbeaten streak last winter. Dennehy helped guide the Warriors to victories against four teams that eventually played in last year s NCAA Tournament, including eventual NCAA Frozen Four participant Notre Dame, as well as BU, Cornell and Providence. Merrimack also toppled perennial power Wisconsin on the road for the first time in school history, as well. The team finished overall on the season, with an mark in league play, marking their highest win total in Hockey East in four years. Dennehy also saw a number of accolades for his student-athletes at the conclusion of , with goaltender Collin Delia earning a spot on the Hockey East All-Star Third Team; he also earned All- New England accolades, while 2017 graduate Hampus Gustafsson was named the recipient of the Joe Tomasello Unsung Hero Award. Gustafsson was also named the program s first All-American in four years after earning CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team honors. Delia, meanwhile, signed a professional contract with the Chicago Blackhawks in the summer of 2017; he was also named a finalist for the presitgious Hockey Humanitarian Award. In , Dennehy s efforts helped the team start and finish the season strong en route to posting its highest finish in the league standings (seventh) in three years. Merrimack also advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Hockey East Tournament for the second year in a row and 20th time in school history. In , Dennehy led a team that was comprised of 10 freshmen to an eight-win improvement from the previous season. Merrimack soared out of the gate, posting a record in its first 17 games to account for the team s best record at the end of the first half since With 10 wins in 15 tries, Dennehy also led Merrimack to its second-quickest start to a 10-win season since joining Hockey East. Dennehy reached the 100-win milestone during the campaign, one that saw the Warriors contend from start to finish and was highlighted by the team occupying first place in Hockey East the latest into a season since the Warriors joined the conference. In , Dennehy s squad claimed yet another piece of history after earning its first-ever No. 1 national ranking in school history thanks to a start to the year. Merrimack was also ranked nationally every week for the first time ever, including an appearance in the top 10-for a span of 17 straight weeks. After falling in three games in the Hockey East Quarterfinals, Merrimack narrowly missed a second consecutive berth in the NCAA Tournament. The highlight of Dennehy s coaching career with the Warriors came in , when Merrimack reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time since while setting a Division I school record with 25 wins and reaching the Hockey East Championship for the first time ever. The Co-Hockey East Coach of the Year, Dennehy saw the fruits of his labors become a reality that winter as the Warriors won a then-division I program-record 16 games and qualified for the Hockey East Tournament for the first time since Hockey East expanded to 10 schools. After finishing sixth in the regular season, Merrimack then proceeded to win a playoff game for the first time since 1998 and defeated every Hockey East team at home and overall for the first time in the program s history. Heralded as one of the top recruiters in the country, Dennehy and his staff s efforts have gained nationwide respect and have kept Merrimack a perennially competitive member of Hockey East. In the classroom, Dennehy s student-athletes rank among the best in Hockey East, and no other school has come close in recent years. In , Merrimack once again led Hockey East with 21 All-Academic selections, marking the fourth straight season and the sixth time in the last nine years that the school topped Hockey East in all-academic picks. The team saw three players earn Top Scholar-Athlete honors -- the fourth straight season with at least one such accolade -- while 2017 graduate Hampus Gustafsson became the first player in league history to finish his career with a perfect 4.0 GPA and was the first student-athlete ever to earn Top Scholar-Athlete honors all four years. In the summer of 2017, Dennehy was on the coaching staff for the United States Under-17 Select Team, which claimed gold at the Five Nations Tournament in Ostrava, Czech Republic. He was a part of one of the quickest rebuilding processes in the history of college hockey. The UMass team advanced to the finals of the 2003 Hockey East Tournament in just the third season under Cahoon and his staff. Prior to his position at UMass, Dennehy worked for Cahoon at Princeton from He helped the Tigers to three consecutive ECAC Final Five tournaments in Lake Placid. In , Dennehy contributed toward Princeton s first ever ECAC championship and only NCAA appearance in the long and distinguished history of the program. From there, he became the head coach at Fairfield University for the campaign before joining Toot again at UMass. A native of Dorchester, Massachusetts, Dennehy helped Boston College win three Hockey East regular season titles and played on the Hockey East Championship team and was a part of three NCAA qualifying teams, including the 1990 team that advanced to the Frozen Four at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. He then went on to play a season in Britain s elite league for the Ayr Raiders in Dennehy parlayed that into a tryout with the Fort Wayne Comets in the IHL before trading in his skates for a whistle. Dennehy resides in Andover, Massachusetts, with his wife Heather and three daughters, Kelsey, Kielan, and Caroline. 10
