Decker is also on a nine-game scoring streak, having tallied eight goals and 10 assists since Jan. 27. u Junior goaltender Alex Rigsby has the third-best save percentage in the nation (.943), and is the foundation of the Badgers defense which is averaging only 1.50 goals against per game, third best in the country. u Wisconsin is tied with North Dakota and Northeastern for eighth in the PairWise, the closest attempt to mimic the method used to determine participants for the NCAA tournament. A total of 10 Badgers recorded points in the series. Madison Packer led the Badgers with two power-play goals and four assists on the weekend. u Alex Rigsby made 17 saves in net on Friday against the Huskies to help Wisconsin open the postseason with a shutout for the fourth time in program history. Karley Sylvester scored the first goal in the 5-0 win. Madison Packer scored on the power play and added three assists, tying her career-game highs for assists and points. Brianna Decker recorded one goal and two assists, and Erika Sowchuk and Jordan Brickner netted the final two goals of the game. u The Badgers started Saturday s game where they left off from the previous day and out-shot St. Cloud State 17-4 in the first period. Katy Josephs scored in the first 20 minutes of play to give the Badgers a 1-0 edge. The Huskies tied the game at 1-1 in the second period scoring on a 5-on-3 power play. However, the Huskies goal would be their only tally of the weekend, and Wisconsin scored three in the final period, including twice on the power play, to win 4-1. Wisconsin vs North Dakota u Wisconsin owns a overall record against North Dakota and the Badgers have won 12 of the last 14 meetings. In postseason play, Wisconsin is undefeated against North Dakota (5-0), having played UND twice in WCHA first-round playoff series (2006, 2007) and once in the Final Face-Off semifinals (2011). u The Badgers went 3-1 against North Dakota this season, sweeping UND at LaBahn Arena (Dec. 8-9) and splitting at Ralph Engelstad Arena (Jan ). u North Dakota makes its second appearance to the WCHA Final Face-Off in program history after beating Minnesota State in its first-round series by scores of 6-1 and 8-1. Jocelyne and Monique Lamoureux combined for 14 points over the weekend against the Mavericks, including a six-point outing by Jocelyne Lamoureux in the second game of the series. Decker named Patty Kaz top-10 finalist u The Badgers senior captain Brianna Decker has been named a top-10 finalist for the 2013 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award. Given annually to the nation s top women s hockey player, Decker received the award in 2012 after leading the nation with 37 goals. This season, she leads the Badgers with 29 goals (sixth in the nation), and 26 assists. She also became the fifth Badger, and 17th player in NCAA history, to record 200 career points. Johnson s milestones u Coach Johnson recorded his 200th WCHA victory on Feb. 9, as the Badgers downed St. Cloud State, 5-1. He also recorded 300th overall win when Wisconsin beat Bemidji State, 2-0, on Feb. 22. Don t look back u Wisconsin has scored the first goal of a game 20 times this season and has gone undefeated (20-0-0) in those games when taking the lead first. Badgers in the new barn u The Badgers posted a (.805) record at home during LaBahn Arena's inaugural season. u Wisconsin has swept two nationally ranked opponents in LaBahn Arena: No. 8 North Dakota (Dec. 8-9) and No. 9 Ohio State (Jan ). u Brianna Decker scored a total of 18 goals at LaBahn Arena, including the first on Oct. 21 at the 13:56 mark of the second period. u Wisconsin owns the best average home attendance in the nation with 1,810 fans per game this season. Rigbsy, what a champ! u Rigsby is currently third in the nation with a.943 save percentage. Her 824 saves is seventh in the nation and is the second most by a UW goaltender in a single season. She ranks third in the country in minutes played with 2052:28, but ranks first in percentage played (99.3). u Her seven shutouts this season is second-most in the nation. She also sits seventh all-time in NCAA history with 23 career shutouts.

She followed up her performance with 36 saves the following night, for a total of 73 saves on the weekend against Minnesota. Rigsby s.936 save percentage against Minnesota during the Dec. 1-2 series, ranks as the highest percentage the Gophers have faced all season. u She recorded a career-long shutout streak spanning 214:20 minutes. The streak started on Oct. 26 and lasted until Nov. 16. Climbing the ranks u Brianna Decker keeps climbing in the record book at Wisconsin. In her career, the senior has 244 points from 115 goals and 129 assists. u With two goals over the Feb weekend, Decker surpassed Meghan Duggan for second-most career points at Wisconsin. u In the NCAA Division I women s hockey record book, Decker currently ranks eighth for career points (244), seventh in career goals (115) and 15th in assists (129). Shoot the puck u With 1154 total shots on goal so far this season, the Badgers are averaging 34 shots on goal per game, 10th most in the nation. Offensive defensemen u The Wisconsin defensemen are currently tied for sixth in the nation for most points (83), having contributed 28 goals and 55 assists. Freshman Courtney Burke leads the UW defensive corps with four goals and 19 assists. Triple-deke u The Badgers lead the nation having scored two penalty-shot goals this season. Coming through clutch u The Badgers are undefeated (8-0-6) in their last 14 games that have gone into overtime. So far this season, the Badgers have played in three overtime games, winning one (Feb. 17 vs UMD) and tying two (Sept. 28 vs MSU, Oct. 21 vs BSU). Weekly Winners u Three Badgers have been named WCHA Player of the Week six times this season. u Alex Rigsby earned her fourth defensive player of the week honor as Wisconsin swept Bemidji State, Feb , helping the Badgers end the regular season with six-consecutive wins. Rigsby only conceded one goal on the weekend, making 44 saves, and posted her sixth shutout of the season with the Badgers 2-0 win on Feb. 22. u Courtney Burke garnered her first weekly-honor of her career, being named the WCHA s Rookie of the Week on Jan. 16. With three assists on the weekend, Burke helped the Badgers sweep No. 9 Ohio State on Jan Two assists came on the power play, while the third was short-handed. u Earning her third weekly award this season, Rigsby was named the WCHA s Defensive Player of the Week on Dec. 12 for her efforts against North Dakota on Dec The junior netminder made 59 of 62 saves over the weekend, conceding only one evenstrength goal, as the Badgers claimed the weekend sweep. u After recording seven points off of four goals and three assists, and scoring her 100th career goal, Brianna Decker was named Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 28. Decker scored two goals in both games against St. Cloud State, Nov , while also adding one assist in the first game and two on the following day. u Rigsby was named Defensive Player of the Week for a second time after posting backto-back shutouts against Minnesota State on Nov On the weekend, Rigsby made a total of 36 saves, extending her shutout streak to 189:29 minutes. u Backstopping the Badgers to their first win, sweep and shutout in LaBahn Arena, Rigsby was named Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 31 for her efforts against New Hampshire. Rigsby made a total of 50 saves on the weekend (Oct. 26/28), while only conceding one goal to UNH.

The previous two Badgers to break the century mark for goals were Hilary Knight (143) and Meghan Duggan (108). u Decker was the 15th player in NCAA history to record 100 goals. 200-point plateau u Brianna Decker became the fifth Badger to reach 200 career points. She joins the company of UW greats, Hilary Knight (262), Meghan Duggan (238), Sara Bauer (218) and Brooke Ammerman (215). u Decker reached 200 points in just 112 games, marking the fastest Badger to reach the milestone. Knight was the previous record holder, reaching 200 points in 120 games. Duggan reached 200 points in 141 games, Bauer in 142 and Ammerman in 145. u Decker was the 17th player in NCAA history to record 200 points. Tip of the hat u Two hat tricks have been recorded by two Badgers so far this season. u Brianna Decker recorded the first hat trick of the season for Wisconsin. Her eighth career hat trick came in the 7-2 win over Lindenwood on Oct. 5. One of her three goals included a goal off a penalty shot. u Alev Kelter tallied the second hat trick for the Badgers, one day after Decker s, in the 9-1 win over Lindenwood on Oct. 6. The senior s first-career hat trick included two unassisted goals. Future Badgers u The Badgers signed five student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. Melissa Channell (Oakville, Ontario), Sydney McKibbon (Oakville, Ontario), Sarah Nurse (Hamilton, Ontario), Annie Pankowski (Laguna Hills, Calif.), and Jenny Ryan (Victor, N.Y.) plan to attend the University of Wisconsin and play hockey for the Badgers beginning in the season. u Sarah Nurse recently set the Provincial Women s Hockey League s scoring record with 36 goals during the regular season. In addition, Nurse finished second in the PWHL for point scoring with 56, and fellow incoming freshman Sydney McKibbon reached 50 points in the PWHL this season. Four Nations Cup Standouts u Former Badger Hilary Knight led all players at the 2012 Four Nations Cup with six goals, scoring four in the round-robin game against Finland and one on the power play against Canada in the gold-medal game. Brianna Decker was second among the tournament s goal scorers with five goals, having also scored four in the game against Finland. u The tournament was also a huge success for Badger goaltending. Alex Rigsby earned her first start, win and shutout as a member of the senior women s national team in the opening game against Sweden. Former netminder Jessie Vetter earned a win in the 15-1 blowout against Finland in the prelims, before leading Team USA to a 26-save shutout against Canada in the gold-medal game. Hockey Canada notebook u Two Badgers were invited to attend the Canadian women s under-22 camp this summer. Defenders Saige Pacholok and Katarina Zgraja skated in Calgary, Alberta for the camp, while assistant coach Jackie Friesen was asked to help coach the camp. u Former Badgers Meaghan Mikkelson, Bobbi-Jo Slusar and Carolyne Prévost were among 40 players invited to at Canada s National Women s Team September Camp/Fall Festival in Calgary, Alberta, Sept u During the fall camp, Meghan Mikkelson tallied the shootout-winning goal for Team White against the Midget AAA Red Deer Chiefs on Sept. 26. Slusar scored the second goal for Team White on Sept. 27 against the Midget AAA Calgary Flames. Prévost tallied a goal in a shootout on Sept. 29 in the intrasquad game for Team Red. u Meaghan Mikkelson and Bobbi-Jo Slusar were part of the silver-medal winning team at the 2012 Four Nations Cup in Finland. Both former Badgers played all four games on the blue line.

Canada used a 2-1 overtime win against the U.S. to claim the gold medal. u Meaghan Mikkelson, Carolyne Prévost, and Bobbi-Jo Slusar were invited to the Canadian women s team winter training camp, which is being held Jan in Ottawa, Ontario. The camp will serve as an evaluation opportunity for the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey Women s World Championship and the 2014 Olympic Winter Games. USA Hockey notebook u Decker was named captain of the U.S. U-22 squad for a three-game series against Canada (Aug ) in Calgary, Alberta. It was her first time donning the C for a U.S. national team. u Decker, Kelter and Rigsby helped the U.S. U-22 team claim its first-ever sweep over Canada in the five-year history of the series. The U.S. outscored Canada 12-7 in the threegame event. Decker recorded one assist in the opening game, before scoring two goals and tallying one assist in the second period of the third game. Kelter assisted on the gamewinning goal in game three as team USA rallied from an early deficit to win. Rigsby played all 60 minutes in both the first and third games, making a total of 46 saves on 50 shots in the two games. u Five Badgers, two current and three former, won gold with Team USA at the 2012 Four Nations Cup in Finland. Brianna Decker and Alex Rigsby were the two current Badgers, while Meghan Duggan, Hilary Knight and Jessie Vetter were also on the squad. u Current Badgers Courtney Burke, Brianna Decker and Alex Rigsby, along with Hilary Knight and Jessie Vetter, were invited to the U.S. senior women s national team s winter training camp, which was held Dec in Blaine, Minn. It was the first winter training camp for Burke, who was also the camps youngest participant. u Future Badger Jenny Ryan took home silver with the U.S. Women s U-18 team that participated in the 2013 IIHF World Championships. Team USA lost a 2-1 decision in overtime to Canada. u Brianna Decker, Alex Rigsby, Meghan Duggan, Hilary Knight and Jessie Vetter were named to the U.S. Women s National Team camp that will begin March 25 in preparation for the 2013 IIHF Women s World Championship in Ottawa, Ontario. In nine seasons, Johnson and the Badgers have shattered both school and national records. Johnson has established Wisconsin s rank among the elite in college women s hockey. Under his direction, Wisconsin has compiled four NCAA titles, four Western Collegiate Hockey Association playoff titles and three WCHA regular season crowns. Johnson and the Badgers were the first team ever to land in the NCAA championship game in four consecutive seasons and win the title three times (2006, 2007, 2009). A four-time American Hockey Coaches Association Division I Coach of the Year, Johnson led the Badgers to their fourth national title in while posting a record, setting a NCAA record for most wins in a single season. The Badgers also claimed the WCHA regular-season and playoff titles en route to winning their fourth national championship in six years. MARK JOHNSON 10th Season at Wisconsin Wisconsin, 1994 UW Record: (.821) Career Record: Same Johnson has led the Badgers to an 14-2 record in the NCAA Tournament, which includes nine Frozen Four wins. Johnson celebrated his 200th career win on Feb, 1, 2008 against Ohio State. He leads all active women s college-hockey coaches with a winning percentage of.830 after compiling an impressive record of in his first seven years at Wisconsin. Three Badgers have won the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award under Johnson. Sara Bauer became UW s first award recipient in 2006, Jessie Vetter received the award in 2009 and Meghan Duggan won in Named the 2003 WCHA Co-Coach of the Year and an AHCA DI Coach of the Year award finalist, Johnson guided UW to a record in his first season. After going in , the Badgers made history in Johnson s third season, winning a then-program-record 28 games (28-9-1), earning their first NCAA tournament berth and reaching a No. 2 national rank. In , Wisconsin debuted at No. 1 and went on to validate that distinction with a record and a national championship. As an encore in , the team successfully defended all three championships while posting a record. Over that two-year span, Johnson s team won more games in a two-year period (72) than another other team in women s college hockey history. During the campaign, Johnson s team broke or tied 18 NCAA team and individual records, including wins in a season (36), fewest losses (one), best winning percentage (.927) and most shutouts (18).The Badgers fell to Minnesota Duluth in the 2008 championship game before rebounding in 2009 with the program s third NCAA championship as Johnson s squad led the nation in nearly every category. Johnson s Badgers reached 29 victories in four straight seasons, something no other program has accomplished. From the season to , Wisconsin recorded 135 wins, more than any other team in the nation. The third head coach in UW women s hockey history, Johnson joined the staff after serving as an assistant coach with the men s program from He also coached the professional Madison Monsters and at both Verona HS and Madison Memorial HS. Johnson s most notable accomplishments as a player occurred when he led the 1980 U.S. Olympic Team s gold medal-winning effort with 11 points, including two goals in the MiracleOn-Ice against the Soviet Union and an assist on the game-winning goal against Finland in the final contest.
