The Gophers will receive the 2014 WCHA regular season trophy prior to Friday s game. Minnesota clinched the regular season conference championship with last Friday s 3-2 win at Wisconsin. Friday is also University of Minnesota Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night at Ridder Arena. GOPHERS TO HONOR SENIOR CLASS SATURDAY Minnesota will honor seniors Bethany Brausen, Sarah Davis, Baylee Gillanders and Kelly Terry prior to Saturday s game. The Class of 2014 enters this weekend s series with a career record for an 87.8 winning percentage. Together they have played in 600 career games and combined for 361 points (120g-241a). In their four years, they have two WCHA regular season titles (2013, 2014), two WCHA regular season runner-up finishes (2011, 2012), two WCHA Final Face-off titles (2012, 2013), one WCHA Final Face-off runner-up finish (2011) and two NCAA national titles (2012, 2013). ABOUT THE SERIES: GOPHERS VS. BULLDOGS Minnesota is all-time against Minnesota Duluth. The most recent series saw the Gophers sweep UMD on the road, 4-0 and 6-3 (Oct , 2013). The Gophers have won the last eight meetings between the two teams and 11 of the last 12 games. The first meeting this season was a 4-0 Gopher win on Oct. 18. Four different Gophers scored goals, and Amanda Leveille made 26 saves in her second shutout of the season. The following night, Dani Cameranesi and Kelly Terry each recorded three points as Minnesota skated to a 6-3 win and a series sweep over then-no. 7 Minnesota Duluth. Most recently, the Bulldogs faced North Dakota the weekend of Feb UMD surrendered a 4-3 loss before picking up a 2-2 tie and a shootout win at AMSOIL Arena, but still clinched home play-off ice for the WCHA tournament for a ninth-consecutive year. Jenna McParland leads the Bulldogs with 31 points (10g-21a) in 30 games. Jamie Kenyon (14g-13a) and Zoe Hickel (10g-13a) round out UMD s top three scorers. Minnesota Duluth averages 2.53 goals per game. The Bulldogs are led by sophomore Kayla Black in net. Black is with a 2.10 goals against average, a.926 save percentage and four shutouts. Minnesota Duluth s defense ranks fourth in the WCHA, allowing 2.13 goals per game in 30 games. Besides missing Olympians Lara Stalder and Tea Villila, who will not return from the Olympics in time for this weekend s series, UMD is also without senior center Brienna Gillanders, who has missed the season due to injury, and Brigette Lacquette, who will not rejoin the Bulldogs until August because of a medical situation. Lacquette was centralized with Team Canada for the first half of the current season. WEEKEND REWIND: GOPHERS CLINCH WCHA TITLE, SWEEP NO. 2 BADGERS No. 1 Minnesota swept No. 2 Wisconsin on the road last weekend, earning a 3-2 win Friday before picking up a 4-0 shutout victory in front of an NCAA-women s hockey record 13,573 fans Saturday night. Rachael Bona led the Gophers with three points (1g-2a) against Wisconsin. Kate Schipper (2a), Kelly Terry (1g-1a), Bethany Brausen (1g-1a) and Meghan Lorence (1g-1a) all had two points in the series as well. The Gophers clinched their eighth WCHA regular season title with Friday s 3-2 win. Dani Cameranesi broke a 2-2 tie when she scored the game-winning goal with 10:58 remaining in the third period. Bona led all players with two points on a goal and an assist, and Milica McMillen also scored for Minnesota. Amanda Leveille made 21 saves in net. Minnesota then completed the sweep and earned its 30th win of the season with a 4-0 win in front of an NCAA-women's hockey record 13,573 fans at the Kohl Center the following night. Terry scored the game-winning goal and added an assist, and Schipper had two assists. Leveille earned her NCAA-best 11th shutout of the season with 24 saves as the Gophers outshot the Badgers, WCHA FIRST ROUND TICKETS ON SALE NOW Minnesota has clinched the WCHA regular-season title and will enter the league tournament as the top seed. Meanwhile, eighth-ranked St. Cloud State cannot catch seventh-place Minnesota State, so the Gophers will host the Huskies in a best-ofthree WCHA first-round playoff series at Ridder Arena Feb. 28 through March 2. Tickets are now on sale. The WCHA Final Face-off is set for March 7-8 at the Sanford Center in Bemidji, Minn. TWO GOPHERS REACH 50-POINT MARK Two Gophers have hit the 50-point mark this season with Hannah Brandt (19g-31a) and Rachael Bona (20g-30a) both at 50 points entering this weekend s series. Sarah Davis (16g-25a) and Kelly Terry (16g-24a) have hit the 40-point mark for the first time in their careers as well. Fourteen Gophers are in double-digits for scoring, including 10 players with at least 20 points. Bona (4g-4a) and Bethany Brausen (2g- 2a) are each on team-best four-game point streaks.

Likewise, North Dakota hosted a Fill the Bowl game and set a new UND women s hockey attendance record at 5,835 in Minnesota s 5-1 win in Grand Forks, N.D., Jan. 31. Minnesota leads the nation in attendance at 67,880 fans in 32 games this season for a 2,121 average. In 14 home games, the Gophers average 2,633 fans per game. This season marks the first time in program history that Minnesota has averaged over 2,000 fans per game. SEVEN GOPHERS COMPETE IN WINTER OLYMPICS Seven Golden Gophers competed for their home countries in the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia. Team Finland's roster included former Gophers Mira Jalosuo and Noora Räty, while Minnesota alumni Megan Bozek, Gigi Marvin and Anne Schleper along with current student-athletes Amanda Kessel and Lee Stecklein earned silver with Team USA. Among the seven Olympians, Räty and Marvin were the only two veterans; the remaining five athletes made their Olympic debut. Minnesota s volunteer assistant coach Andy Kent also traveled to Sochi with Team Finland as the team s goaltending coach. RECORD-SPEED SCORING During Minnesota s six-goal second period against Bemidji State (Feb. 7), the Gophers scored five goals in a 4:12 span for the fastest five goals on record in Gopher women's hockey program history. The previous record was five goals scored in 6:23 in OFFENSIVE DEFENSE Minnesota leads the nation in scoring among defensemen with 111 points (30g-81a) led by sophomore Milica McMillen (9g-23a), who is second in the nation among blue-liners with 1.07 points per game, and junior Rachel Ramsey (8g-23a), who ranks third in the nation among defensemen with 0.97 points per game. McMillen and Ramsey lead WCHA defensemen in scoring. ROAD WINNING STREAK SURVIVES MADISON, WIS. Minnesota extended its NCAA-record road winning streak to 44 games with its road sweep in Wisconsin last weekend. The streak dates back to a 3-0 win over Minnesota Duluth on Jan. 14, Including neutral games, Minnesota has 47-consecutive victories when playing away from Ridder Arena spanning over the last two years. FROST RECORDS WIN NO. 200 Head coach Brad Frost earned his 200th career wins as Minnesota s head coach on Nov. 23, 2013 with a 5-1 win over Yale. Frost entered the season with a career mark of in six seasons at the helm of the Gopher women s hockey program. Frost s career record currently stands at (.831). Minnesota s streak began and ended with North Dakota, as the historic run started with a 5-2 win over UND on Feb. 28, 2012 and the final win was a 6-1 victory over North Dakota on Nov. 16, Losses to North Dakota bookend the streak (2-1 overtime loss on Feb. 17, 2012 and 3-2 loss on Nov. 17, 2013). The streak began with an run to conclude the season, followed by a perfect campaign in Back-to-back national champions, the Gophers then started the season at to push the streak to 62-straight wins. Minnesota s 62-game run bested the previous NCAA Division I women's hockey winning streak (21, Harvard) and unbeaten streak (32, Wisconsin, twice), along with surpassing the NCAA Division I men's hockey winning streak (30, RPI and Cornell) and unbeaten streak (38, RPI). GOPHERS ON THE POWER PLAY The Gophers power play leads the nation at 29.5 percent (36/122) led by Dani Cameranesi, who is tied for third in the nation with seven power-play goals. ROOKIE SCORING LEADERS Gopher freshmen have combined for 73 points (27g-46a) this season led by Dani Cameranesi (16g-11a) and Kate Schipper (5g-19a). Minnesota s freshman class leads the nation with 2.28 points per game. MINNESOTA REMAINS UNANIMOUS NO. 1 The Golden Gophers remained the unanimous No. 1 in both the USCHO.com and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine national polls this week. Minnesota has been No. 1 in both national polls since the final poll of the season (March 19-20, 2012). This stretch includes 43-straight USCHO.com polls and 46-straight USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls. MINNESOTA ADDS SEVEN FRESHMEN FOR Seven freshmen have joined the Gophers for their rookie seasons this year, six of which have already made their debut in Maroon and Gold. Rookie defensemen Kelsey Cline (2g-5a), Paige Haley (2a) and Megan Wolfe (3g-8a) and forwards Dani Cameranesi (16g-11a), Kate Schipper (5g-19a) and Kate Flug (1g-1a) have seen ice time already this season. Goaltender Sidney Peters rounds out the newcomers. Six of the new players hail from Minnesota; Peters is a native of Geneva, Ill., but attended the North American Hockey Academy in Stowe, Vt. Cameranesi was named the 2013 Minnesota Ms. Hockey after leading Blake to the Minnesota Class A State championship with 95 points as a senior. Flug was a three-time all-state honoree at Roseville Area High School who played with Bethany Brausen and Lee Stecklein as a freshman. Schipper led Breck to three Minnesota Class A State Tournament appearances and won a state title with Gopher teammate Milica McMillen in Wolfe was the 2013 Pioneer Press Player of the Year after recording 71 points as a senior at Eagan High School. Cameranesi, Flug, Peters, Schipper and Wolfe all have experience with the U.S. Under-18 team at the IIHF Under-18 Women s World Championships. Blue-liners Cline and Haley participated in USA Hockey national development camps as well. Cline played for Bloomington Jefferson and earned all-state honors as a senior, while Haley was a four-time all-state honoree at Red Wing High School. ON THE HORIZON The WCHA regular-season champion Gophers return to Ridder Arena to host eighth-place St. Cloud State in a best-of-three WCHA first-round playoff series next weekend. Puck drop is set for 7:07 p.m. CT Friday, Feb. 28 and 4:07 p.m. CT Saturday, March 1. The third game, if necessary, will be at 4:07 p.m. CT Sunday, March 2.

Frost entered the season with a career record of (.815) and has not had a team finish lower than second in the WCHA. COACHING EXCELLENCE Frost, who has won two national titles, is considered one of the best and most respected coaches in collegiate hockey. In his six seasons, he has been named an AHCA Coach of the Year Finalist three times and has won the national honor once (2013). Frost has also been named WCHA Coach of the Year three times (2008, 2009 and 2013). Under his tutelage, the Gophers have accumulated three seasons with 30 or more wins, which is only matched by Wisconsin. In 2013, Frost led the Gophers to the NCAA s first-ever perfect season (41-0-0). PLAYER DEVELOPMENT Over the last six years, Frost has coached some of the top talent not only in the nation but also in the world. He has seen two players (Gigi Marvin and Noora Räty) represent their respective countries in the Olympics, and there is a possibility that nine additional Gophers will compete in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games. He also aided the development of former Gophers and Olympians Natalie Darwitz, Kelly Stephens, Lyndsay Wall and Krissy Wendell while a Minnesota assistant coach. Frost has coached a total of seven players to a combined 11 All-American honors. Among those All-Americans is 2013 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award winner Amanda Kessel. A total of six Minnesota student-athletes have been named Top-10 Patty Kaz Finalists under Frost s tutelage. ACADEMIC SUCCESS Under Frost s guidance, the Gophers have recorded a 3.0 or higher grade point average and increased the team s Academic Progress Rating (APR) each season. Minnesota has accumulated 65 WCHA All-Academic Team members, 14 WCHA Scholar Athlete honorees and one WCHA Scholar-Athlete of the Year (Gigi Marvin, 2009) since Frost took reign. INTERNATIONAL COACHING EXPERIENCE Frost has been instrumental in aiding USA Hockey by working development camps and serving as a coach for various U.S. teams. In 2006, he was an assistant coach on the U.S. Under-22 Team, and from , he was an assistant coach for the U.S. National Team. PERSONAL LIFE BRAD FROST 7TH SEASON AT MINN. BETHEL, 1996 Frost grew up in Burlington, Ont., and attended Aldershot High School. After graduating from Aldershot, he decided to attend college at Bethel University, which is where his parents originally met. While at Bethel, he studied Physical & Health Education and was a two-sport athlete, competing at hockey and golf. Frost was a four-year letterwinner in hockey and ranks eighth on Bethel s career scoring list. In 1994 and 1995, he was voted the team s Most Valuable Player and Most Inspirational. He also captained the Royals his junior and senior seasons. At Bethel, Frost met his wife Dayna. They now reside in Cottage Grove, Minn., and have three sons: Micah, Jonah and Josiah.
