There is no cost to attend this event but you do need to register by October 12th. A silent auction will be held with proceeds going to the Campbell County 4-H Council. Past silent auction items have included UK basketball tickets, picture frames, baked goods, 4-H goody baskets, and much more. See photos and results from the Kentucky State Fair on pages 2-3 and The Alexandria Fair on pages Congratulations! 4-H ENROLLMENT H Enrollment Form is in the center of this newsletter. Everyone must re-enroll in 4-H each year! Please complete it and send it to the 4-H office soon! Feel free to make copies if you need more! We ask that you register for the Recognition Night by calling (859) no later than October 12! Recognition Night is a special night to honor all 4-H ers for their participation in the past year s activities. Each 4-H er who attends will receive a gift. Pictures from 4-H events throughout the year will be displayed. If you have any pictures of various 4-H events, please them to kellsey.agnew@uky.edu We ask that each club bring 1 to 2 items for the silent auction. Please try to bring your items to the 4-H office before October 25th. All 4-H ers and 4-H families will be getting a post card invitation in the mail with more details about the event. We hope to see everyone there to recognize all the hard work that has taken place throughout 4-H this year! Outstanding 4-H er Award If you are a 2018 Senior 4-H er (age 14 and up by January 1, 2018) and would like to be considered for the 2018 Outstanding 4-H er Award, call the 4-H office for the application form. Two outstanding 4-H er awards are awarded at the 4-H Recognition Night on October 25th. The forms are due back to the 4-H office no later than October 1st! September 2018 Page 1

4 4-H Saddle-Up Club Horse Show Committee: Our next horse show is August 11, starting at 9:30 am at the Northern Kentucky Saddle Club. The rain date is August 18. THE CAMPBELL COUNTY 4-H Saddle-Up Club met on August 2, 2018 at 7pm at the Alexandria Fairgrounds. President Rebekah Foutch called the meeting to order. Daniel Myers led prayer and Stella Kenner led the club in pledges. Attendance was taken. Nadia Shurley read the secretary s minutes and Lydia Deaton gave the treasurer s report. Committee Reports: Audit & Budget committee is to meet in August. Banquet: This year s banquet is November 3, 6pm, at the Extension Office. The Banquet Committee showed some of the award selections available for this year. Banquet Selection Sheet and Participation Sheets are due at the September club meeting. County 4-H Advisory Council: Daniel Myers reported that the next meeting is August 14 at 7pm, Extension Office. Everyone is welcome to attend. Grounds: Committee will meet at 7:30 am on August 11 at the Northern Kentucky Saddle Club to set up for the show. Nominating Committee: Officer nominations were announced and elections will be held at the Sept. club meeting. Announcements: Any suggestions, rule changes or recommendations for the State Horse Show should be submitted to Leslie. Aug. 9 from 6-8 pm is our service project for the AJ Jolly Horse Trails. Everyone is welcome to help the Northern KY Horse Network with this project. Leslie Deaton received her award for 2018 Outstanding Horse Volunteer. Congratulations! Members are reminded to complete a horse record book to be able to show at the Alexandria Fair 4-H Horse Show on Sept. 3. Record books must be submitted on Aug. 28 from 2-6pm at the Fairgrounds. The next meeting is September 6th at 6pm at the Alexandria Fairgrounds. 4-H Issues Conference 2018 Open to high school students who display leadership potential November at 4-H Leadership Center at Lake Cumberland $215 per youth covers lodging, most meals, transportation & program costs. All youth will receive an Issues t-shirt. Transportation and chaperones provided by the 4-H office. Participants do not have to be enrolled in 4-H to attend. Orientation scheduled for November 1, 7pm, 4-H office Forms & fee are due to the 4-H office no later than October 12. This is an excused absence from school for 1/2 day on 11/15 and a full day on 11/16. Call or stop by for a registration packet. 4-H Achievement Program f you are a 4-H member in the 6th-12th grade, I you are eligible to complete the 4-H Achievement Application. The 4-H Achievement Program is intended to recognize 4-H participants who have outstanding accomplishments and to provide incentives for youth to increase their knowledge, skills and abilities through 4-H Projects and Activities. Awards include scholarships to Teen Conference at UK, National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, National 4-H Conference in Washington, D.C. and college scholarships.
