3 New Southeast Area Website The Southeast Area Extension has a new website. Check out for Southeast Area related information. 4H Online Blasts From time to time the State office will be sending s directly to the 4-H members. It is the easiest and most effective way to communicate important State events and requirements. We know that not everyone particularly enjoys the extra s and there have been requests to be unsubscribed. It is important to know that if you do that, you would not receive any re-enrollment s or information the County office sends directly to you. Please do not unsubscribe. State Fair Exhibit Requirements The 2017 State Fair Exhibit Requirements have been updated. You can find them at StateFairExhibitReq.pdf. Please be sure to refer to the exhibit requirements when you are planning on your project, as this is what it will be judged on at both county and state fair. 4-H Ford Truck Raffle The Rocky Mountain Ford Dealers have generously donated a 2017 Ford F-150 XLT 4x4 Super Crew truck to the Colorado 4-H Foundation for the 2017 raffle. More prizes will be awarded in conjunction with this raffle. Raffle tickets will be available through your county Extension office. Creative Cooks Express your creativity at the District VI Creative Cooks and Cake Decorating Contests! Both contests will be held at the Event Center on the Arkansas Valley Fairgrounds in Rocky Ford on June 8 th at 6:00 pm. During the Cake Decorating Contest, youth are given the opportunity to show off their skills while decorating a cake in a given amount of time. The Creative Cooks contest allows youth to plan a menu, set a place setting, cook a dish, and participate in an interview with the judge. Judging is based on creativity, taste, and visual appeal, among other factors. Complete contest requirements can be found at We hope to see you all there! For more information or entry forms, contact your local Extension Office. Entries are due to your Extension Office by June 1 st. DVI Performing Arts & Demonstration Contest The 2017 District VI Performing Arts & Demonstration Contest will be held Thursday, July 13th at 6 p.m. in Eads at the Crow- Luther Cultural Center. The Code of Conduct can be found on the state 4-H website, along with event etiquette and information on sportsmanship for participants, parents, and spectators. Let s all work to make each and every 4-H event or activity a positive experience for everyone involved.

We must know if you are planning on completing your project at the S&S Fair or the Holly fair. This helps us create the interview schedule for general and consumer projects August 6, and to figure how many pens to set up. Failure to turn in a form will result in the last interview slot and no pen. Please help us out and turn your form in early. Scholarships The 4-H Foundation Scholarship has been awarded to Marshal Pierce, Ashlyn Crossland, Lenea Gurule, Cade Holden, Shelby Holden, Kylee Holden. Each student will receive $1000. Scholarship checks will be given at Family Night and awards presentation, on August 9th at the Sand & Sage Fair. Congratulations! Livestock Scales For many years the Extension office has had a portable livestock scale that all families have had the opportunity to take home, weigh animals, and return to the office within a couple days. Over the past two years we have loaned them out without a check in and check out signature card. It is my fault that we stopped checking them in and out in written form. Unfortunately, the scales were not returned last fall. We contacted all the families that had borrowed them throughout the summer and they do not have them. I am not placing blame on the families that used them. I understand things happen, however, it is unfortunate for our livestock members that the scales are unavailable for future use. If anyone does come across the scale please call the office immediately. Join the Prowers 4-H Gratitude Campaign This year I would like to challenge each 4-H member to join the PC 4-H Gratitude Campaign. Prowers County is an incredibly supportive community for our youth. Our youth receive tremendous financial support, volunteer time, and adults continually share their skill expertise. Take a few minutes to write a handwritten note and send it to help show your gratitude. We have listed some suggested groups and please join us as we help pay it forward.
