3 IMPORTANT DETAILS TO KNOW BASIC RULES OF SAFETY After yu have unwrapped the device, check the intact and cmplete status f the prduct. Upn planning and executin, the requirements f the valid gas service prvider, the cnstructin, envirnmental and related electric standards as well as the ther related standards must be taken int accunt and fllwed t the fullest. The prducer cannt take respnsibility fr unprfessinal peratin and ther external mechanical damage that des nt riginate frm unprfessinal peratin. In the event f an errr, if yu cannt eliminate the errr n the basis f the instructins f the perating manual, call the designated brand service. Check the pressure f the heating system at regular intervals t prevent its decrease belw 1 bar. If the device switches ff interlcking n several ccasins, repeatedly, call the brand service; until then the fllwing is t be executed: Turn ff the main switch f the device (cutting ff electricity). Clse the cnnecting gas and water cnnectin. In the case f frst danger, drain the heating and cld-and-ht-water circles (draining). 4 GENERAL INTRODUCTION GHISS R is the basic type atmspheric furnace-chamber ht water biler with cast irn, segmented heatexchanger. It is suitable fr the executin f the pumpsystem central heating system f residential and public buildings and, tgether with the indirectly heated ht water cntainers installed next t them, the executin f the prvisin f ht water fr use. The PV types f the biler have built-in circulatin pumps, clsed expansin tank, and safety blw-ff valves. GHISS B device is an atmspheric furnace-chamber ht water gas biler with a cast-irn, segmented heatexchanger, built tgether with a cmbined-executin, 100-litre, indirectly heated ht water cntainer. It is suitable fr the executin f the pump-system central heating system f residential and public buildings and the executin f the prvisin f ht water fr use. This biler, in the building and ht water cntainer heating functins perates with tw separate heating pumps, wrking in alternate phases. Its executin, upn demand, can be: PV built tgether with circulatin pump n building-heating side, autmatic de-airing valve, clsed expansin tank, and safety blwff valve, r the versin withut thse, made fr already existing heating systems. Its ht water cntainer has an abslutely hygienic waterspace prvided with duble enamel cating and highutput magnesium ande prtectin. The pump has III levels; it is always practical t use the lwer level that still prvides fr the heating system; this way yu can save electric energy. The hydraulic lss f the bilers With the exceptin f the GHISS..... PV type devices, there is n heating circulatin pump in the device. This is t be prvided fr in the heating system. Fr sizing, use the fllwing graph. The pressure-lss f PV-type bilers: Upn the first start-up f the biler and after a lnger shut-dwn, it is practical t check the turnability f the axle f the pump with the help f a screwdriver. 13 SWITCHING ON The very first start-up f the device and its gas-technical regulatin are t be executed by the brand service. Switching n the device, depending n the type: 1. Semi-autmatic mde f peratin (AP) In the case f SIT NOVA 820 type gas valve: - After the device has been cnnected t the electric supply, pen the gas tap in frnt f the biler. - Turn n the main pwer supply switch f the biler. - Set the biler regulating thermstat at the minimum, then take ff the dr f the device. - By slightly pushing in the cntrl buttn f the cmbined gas valve, turn it in such a way that the * marking is in line with the marking pressed int the metal part f the valve (pilt light). - By pushing in the buttn as far as it ges, light the gas flwing ut f the pilt light burner by pressing the piez ignitin 2-3 times then release the buttn after secnds. - If switching n is unsuccessful, it is t be repeated in 2 minutes (required fr the shrt ventilatin f the cmbustr). - After the device has been started up, yu can check the existence f the pilt light thrugh the spy-hle. - By slightly pushing in the cntrl buttn f the cmbined gas valve, turn it in such a way that the small flame symbl is in line with the marking pressed int the metal part f the valve (main burner), then replace and clse the dr f the biler. - Set the biler regulating thermstat at the desired value. - Set the rm thermstat at the desired value, then the main burner will g n. Shutting dwn the biler: - By slightly pushing in the cntrl buttn f the cmbined gas valve, turn it clckwise in such a manner that the dt symbl n the buttn (extinctin) is in line with the marking n the valve. - The biler that has been shut dwn can be re-started nly after a 1-2 minute wait. 13 THE OPERATION OF THE DEVICE 1. Autmatic mde f peratin (AE) Upn the applicatin f a SIT 840 type gas valve there is n need t perate the gas valve manually as simply by setting the cntrl devices placed n the frnt sheet f the biler at the desired values the device perates autmatically accrding t the fllwing. - If there is an external mains main switch installed where the device is set up, turn it n. - Open the gas tap and the water-side clsing fixtures. - Turn n the main switch f the electric cntrl f the device (4), - Set the biler regulating thermstat (9) accrding t the desired temperature. - Set the mde f peratin switch (5) accrding t the desired mde f peratin and turn it n: Winter mde f peratin heating and the prductin f ht water fr use at the indirect cntainer cnnected t the biler, and n GHISS B devices (I). Summer mde f peratin the prductin f ht water fr use with the indirect cntainer cnnected t the biler, and n GHISS B devices (0). The fllwing prcesses will take place autmatically: the electrnics prvides the spark, the burner ges n, and the gas biler starts heating up accrding t the temperature set. On the GHISS B type we can set the desired temperature f ht water fr use with the ht water fr use regulatr (10). 14 THE OPERATION OF THE DEVICE 1. VERSION GB

15 Fllwing a lnger perid f being shut dwn, it may happen that the device des nt start up. In this case, the fllwing is t be checked and dne: Check that the taps f the gas, water and heating system are pen. Check whether the heating system is sufficiently filled up: the pressure has t be at least 1 bar. Turn ff and then turn n again the exterir separatr switch f the biler. Check the setting f the rm thermstat, and carry ut n it a switching n and a switching ff. Check the setting f the biler temperature regulatr, and set it at the desired temperature. Put the winter/summer switch int winter psitin (I). In case f the GHISS B type, in the summer setting, the biler nly prduces ht water fr use; same as in case f GHISS R type if the indirect cntainer and the necessary electrnic unit are cnnected. In ther cases the device des nt perate in the summer setting. 15 THE OPERATION OF THE DEVICE 1. VERSION GB

16 Turn n the main switch f the biler (the light has t g n). The peratin f the biler is started and cntinues until the temperature f the biler water reaches the temperature set r the rm thermstat ges ff. In the event f an ignitin errr, the illuminated reset buttn is lit in red. (AE) The prcedure f re-starting is the fllwing: - press the reset buttn, - wait until the ignitin prcedure is repeated and peratin starts. If the start-up prcedure is unsuccessful again, restarting can be repeated after 1-2 minutes. The number f repeated re-starts can be maximum 3. 17 SETTING THE BOILER THERMOSTAT When the utside temperature changes, the heating temperature is t be adjusted as well. The clder the utside temperature is, the htter heating water we need. T increase the temperature f the heating water, the regulating buttn is t be turned clckwise; when we turn the buttn anti-clckwise, the temperature f the biler will decrease. In rder t avid cndensatin, we shuld set the frward temperature in such a manner that prvides a temperature f the returning water abve 40 C. SHUTTING DOWN FOR A LONGER PERIOD OF TIME In this case the fllwing is t be dne: Turn ff the main switch f the biler, the green light ges ff. Turn ff the external separatin switch f the biler. TEMPORARY SHUT-DOWN If fr hliday, excursin r sme ther reasn yu want t turn ff the biler, and the utside temperatures are abve zer, yu have t d the fllwing: Turn ff the main switch f the biler, the green light ges ut. Turn ff the gas tap. If there is a danger f freezing, drain the heating water and the water frm the ht water fr use system. CLEANING The uter husing f the biler can be cleaned with a sft clth dampened with detergent. In the case f persistently siling spts, remval can be executed with the help f a clth dampened with a mixture f 50% industrial alchl and water. Turn ff the external separatr switch f the biler. If the exterir temperatures are belw zer, we have t fllw a different prcedure. In this case d the fllwing: Set the biler thermstat at minimum. Set the rm thermstat at 10 C. The cleaning f the biler bdy and the smke ducts is t be carried ut by the brand service, at regular intervals. D nt use rugh scrubbing agents! Befre yu start cleaning the biler, turn ff the main switch f the biler and the external separatr switch. MAINTENANCE The regular maintenance and check-up f the gas device is determined by EU decrees and standards. 20 THE BOILER ROOM UNICAL GHISS bilers are allwed t be installed nly in rms where the replacement f the amunt f air necessary fr the device accrding t the standards (ventilatin) is secured, and which satisfy the fire-prtectin and ther requirements. There is n frst-prtectin functin in these bilers, therefre, they can be installed nly in rms where there is n danger f freezing! THE CONNECTION OF THE BOILER TO THE EXISTING OLD HEATING SYSTEM If we cnnect the biler t the ld heating system, the fllwing instructins must be abided by: The diameter and height f the chimney shuld satisfy the new requirements, shuld be f the necessary cleanness and shuld prvide the apprpriate amunt f draught. Water-quality values The electric system shuld meet the regulatry requirements f PH the biler. Electric cnductibility < 200 mv/cm (25 C) The pipes and fixtures f natural gas r tanked gas shuld Chlride in < 50 ppm prvide the amunt and pressure f the fuel specified fr the Sulphuric acid in < 50 ppm biler, accrding t the standards. 22 ELECTRIC CONNECTIONS The devices are equipped with the fllwing electric cnnectins. Main circuit cnnectin 230 V 50 Hz, rm thermstat cnnectin and with the exceptin f the PV types heating pump cnnectin. These cnnectins which are f serial hk executin and are prvided with the apprpriate labels are lcated within the appliance bx. Access can be achieved in the fllwing way: Lift ff the tp f the biler, which is fixed by snaps. Screw ut the screws f the tp f the appliance bx; nw yu have access t the cnnecting hks. There is 230 V 50 Hz vltage present n the cnnectrs f the device, therefre, in rder t avid accidents, befre yu remve the tp f the appliance bx, turn ff the external separatr switch! 23 The fllwing rules must be abided by upn the executin f the electric cnnectins: 1. Cnnect the mains cable in a plarity-crrect way t the electric mains. The maximum length f this can be 3 m. 2. The markings upn cnnectin: L phase cnductr, N neutral cnductr. 3. The recmmended crss-sectin f the cnnecting cables is 1.5 mm 2, and it is t be damage-free hse cnductr. 4. Cnnectin is t be perfrmed accrding t the electric switching diagram. 5. The cnnectin f a prtective cnductr is bligatry. Gas and water pipes must nt be used fr the prtective wire! The biler and the pipe system are t be cnnected with the shck-prfing system with a standard prtective cnductr. The manufacturer undertakes n respnsibility fr incrrect executin! CONDUCTING COMBUSTION PRODUCTS Cnnect the biler t the chimney accrding t the valid standards and requirements. Cnnectin is t be executed with rigid pipes, prviding fr apprpriate caulking, als cunting n the cndensing water that may be prduced. The mechanical attachment f cnnecting pipes shuld be secured against mvement and slipping ut. The bilers are equipped with smke gas restricting thermstat, which, in case smke gas flws back, clse dwn the peratin f the biler in an interlcked manner The use f un-insulated external chimney pses ptential dangers. The cnnectin f GHISS 16, -24, -32, type devices t the chimney. GAS CONNECTION The device can be cnnected either t a piped natural gas r tanked gas (LPG) system. Befre yu execute the cnnectin, the fllwing is t be perfrmed: Check what gas type the biler has been regulated fr and what is at dispsal upn cnnectin. Check the cleanness f the gas pipe and if necessary, install a filter in frnt f the biler. The gas cnnectin must ensure gas f the apprpriate quantity and pressure, and the apprpriate peratin f the measuring and safety system must be checked. After yu have cnnected the device t the gas system, check whether the seal is intact and whether the standards have been abided by. 24 After the cnnectin f the deflectr t the biler, cnnectin t the chimney is t be prepared the same way as with the interir deflectr types. FILLING UP AND DRAINING THE SYSTEM With the GHISS R AP and GHISS R AE type devices, the filling up f the system can be executed thrugh the filling up draining tap n the biler. With the GHISS R AP PV and GHISS R AE PV types, if the device has been cnnected t the water system, filling up can be perfrmed thrugh the filling up tap lcated n the device, r thrugh the filling up draining tap. In case f an exterir deflectr, the sensr f the smke gas restricting thermstat is t be placed in the deflectr, in the manner indicated in the graph. The sensr has t be put int the bre hle n the internal brace f the deflectr as far as it ges, and must be secured against slipping ut by tightening the eccentric fastener. With the GHISS B type devices, filling up is pssible frm the CHW cntainer, by pening the built-in filling up tap. Filling up can als be perfrmed with the pipecnnectin attached t the return f the heating system. Befre yu start filling up, the fllwing is t be executed: Turn ff the main switch f the biler. Open the filling tap as far as the pressure f the system reaches 1.5 bar. Clse the filling tap. Turn n the biler. The prvisin f air necessary fr the peratin f the biler is t be secured thrugh the drs and windws n the walls f the rm r with the help f vent-hles! 25 PREPARATIONS FOR START-UP Befre yu turn n the device, take ff the dr f the biler and check the fllwing: The heating system and the gas cnnectin taps are pen. The type and cnnectin pressure f the gas is in line with the device. While cld, the pressure f the heating system is abve 1 bar, and is t be free f air. The pressure f the expansin tank befre the system is filled up shuld be 0.8 ~ 1 bar. The cnnectin f the electric system is apprpriate fr the device. The cnnectin f the cmbustin prduct cnducting pipe is apprpriate. FIRST START-UP Fr the start-up f the device, d the fllwing: Turn n the external separatr switch. Set the rm thermstat at the desired temperature. Set the winter-summer switch t winter setting (I). In the summer setting, with the GHISS B type, the biler perfrms nly the prductin f ht water fr use, while in the case f the GHISS R type if the indirect cntainer and the necessary electrnic unit are cnnected. In ther cases, the device des nt wrk in the summer psitin. Set the biler regulating thermstat at the desired temperature. 26 The ignitin prcess f the biler starts, sparks are generated autmatically, then it perates cntinuusly until either the biler r the rm thermstat turns ff. In case f an ignitin errr, the illuminated reset buttn lights up in red. The prcedure fr re-starting is the fllwing: - press the reset buttn, - wait fr the ignitin prcedure t repeat, then peratin starts. It may happen that during cntinuus peratin the biler stps and the errr indicatr lamp lights up. Fr re-establishment, d the fllwing: Take ff the dr f the biler, fastened by snaps. There are tw prtective hexagn plastic caps at the bttm f the appliance bx. Twist them ff and under each f them is a press-buttn. The ne n the left is the smke gas restricting, the ne n the right is the temperature restricting thermstat. Push in the buttns as far as they g. 27 CHECKING DURING OPERATION After starting up, the fllwing are t be checked: The peratin f the biler main switch by turning it n and ff. The peratin f the biler thermstat by turning it ff and n. 28 SHUTTING DOWN FOR A LONGER PERIOD OF TIME In this case, the fllwing is t be dne: Turn ff the main switch f the biler, the green light ges ut. Turn ff the external separatr switch f the biler. Turn ff the gas tap. If there is a danger f freezing, drain the water frm the heating and the ht water fr use systems. MAINTENANCE Based n the standards and regulatins, gas devices require regular maintenance and peridical check-ups. This increases the peratinal safety f the device and with the maintenance we can secure that the device always perates with the best degree f efficiency, thus we can achieve the mst ptimal gas cnsumptin. 29 CALIBRATION In the factry, the bilers are calibrated fr piped natural gas (G20), which is indicated n the bilers with a label! The vlume set can differ frm the specified value by ±5%. The calibrated values can be fund in the fllwing table. These are needed because fllwing a pssible repair it is necessary t carry ut the setting f the device; calibratin is als necessary if the type f gas has t be changed. The gas technical regulatin f the gas device as well as switching ver t anther type f gas can be carried ut nly by the members f the brand service! Setting nzzle pressure Remve clsing blt number 1 f the gas valve. Set the value f pressure at the value indicated in the table with blt number 2 (the blt under the clsing blt). By turning the blt t the right, pressure increases, by turning it int the ppsite directin, it decreases. With blt number 3, n AP type devices, the size f the pilt light can be regulated. 30 SWITCHING OVER TO ANYOTHER TYPE OF GAS During the curse f their prductin, the bilers are prduced and calibrated fr G20 type natural gas. Switching the devices t anther type f gas and carrying ut its gas technical calibratin can nly be carried ut by the brand service! Switching ver t anther type f gas e.g. G30 (prpane) invlves the fllwing: Replacing the nzzles Take ff the dr f the biler Screw the nzzles ut f the cllectr and in their place screw in the nzzles f the right size fr the gas type. Use the washers! Gas technical calibratin Cnnect the pressure gauge n the measuring stub (A). Start the biler in the manner intrduced earlier. Remve clsing valve number 1 f the gas valve. With the help f blt number 2, set the pressure value t the value specified in the table (the blt under the clsing blt). By turning the blt t the right, pressure increases, by turning it int the ppsite directin, it decreases. Remve the measuring device and put back the clsing blts. When switching the gas device t anther gas type, the size f the nzzle and the value f the gas pressure are t be the same as the values specified in the table intrduced abve! Befre and during calibratin, check the pressure f the tanked gas system. Check the density f the cmplete pipe system. 31 CLEANING THE BOILER The uter husing f the biler can be cleaned with a sft clth dampened with detergent. In the case f persistently siling spts, remval can be executed with the help f a clth dampened with a mixture f 50% industrial alchl and water. It is frbidden t use paints and ther thinners with an aggressive effect! Yu will have access t the internal parts by remving the dr and the tp sheet. If the appliance bx is t be remved, it can be pulled ut after the release f the snaps marked A, in B directin. Fr the remval f the gas burner, flare nut number 1 must be lsened, then, after screws number 2 f the burner tray have been screwed ut, it can be remved frward. The burner tubes remved can be cleaned, and the inside surface f the cast heat exchanger becmes accessible. Check the cleanness f the surfaces f the heat exchanger, and clean it if st settlement is visible. If the layer f sil is t thick, yu can use cmmercially available st-remving chemicals. Assembly, lgically, is the reverse f the steps f disassembly. The cleaning f GHISS B type bilers Attentin! Upn any maintenance peratin, discnnect the device frm the electric netwrk! Amng apprpriate circumstances f use, the biler des nt need any special attentin apart frm the cmpulsry annual maintenance peratin (befre the heating seasn). The internal cleaning f the indirect bilers is usually necessary when, after a lnger perid f perating time r right after the maintenance f the water netwrk fr use, mre significant sediment settles in the inside f the cntainer. 32 Drain the water cntents f the biler thrugh the draining tap (4). After the remval f the blts fastening the tp, remve the clsing lid f the cleaning hle (5). Check the cnditin f the ande rd and the washer ring, if need be, replace (9). Check the cnditin f the biler filling up pipe manually, clean it mechanically during the curse f self-feed rinsing (3). Remve the sediment with the help f the water jet applied thrugh the cleaning hle, thrugh the draining tap f the biler.
