3 How to use this Passport Dear Student, Congratulations! We are glad you took advantage of this great opportunity to get out, have fun, get healthy, this winter. To use your new Passport, here are a few things you need to do: 1. Make sure you adhere your own photo securely in the box on the inside of the front cover. Your Passport will not be valid without your affixed photo. 2. Don t forget to sign the passport and have a parent or guardian sign it too. 3. A parent or other responsible adult must be with you at the ski area and purchase an all-day ticket. One adult may accompany two Passport holders. 4. You may use this Passport up to three times at most areas listed in the Passport. Please check for blackout dates and other restrictions on individual Lift Visas, Trail Visas and other coupons in this Passport. 5. Please read all rules regarding Passport use on the inside back cover. 6. It is a good idea to check our website, goskimichigan.org, for hours and snow conditions before you head out. 51 Cold is Cool 4 th and 5 th Grade Passport Rules and Regulations 1. MSIA is providing only 4 th and 5th graders with a Cold is Cool Passport. The Passport is a nontransferable document which entitles the 4 th or 5th grader to whom it is issued (Holder) up to three complimentary children s one-day lift tickets and/or trail passes at each of the participating Michigan Alpine and Nordic ski areas during the ski season (subject to the terms and conditions set forth below). 2. All participating ski areas reserve the right to withdraw from the program at any time, and all Passport offers are subject to availability. 3. The Passport may be used to obtain no more than one complimentary lift ticket per day. 4. The Passport or lift tickets obtained by the Passport may not be transferred or sold to any other person, including family members. MSIA will immediately revoke the Passport if holder transfers use of the Passport or any lift ticket or trail pass obtained with the Passport to another person. 5. The Passport may be used by the Holder only when accompanied by a paying adult. A maximum of two Passport Holders per each paying adult may obtain a complimentary one-day lift ticket. 6. Holders and their parents or legal guardians are responsible for proper use of that Passport at all times. In the event of passport misuse and cancellation, MSIA may recover damages to itself and/or participating resorts arising from Passport misuse, including reasonable attorney fees. All Passport Holders agree to comply with all rules and regulations of participating ski areas and with all other applicable laws and regulations. 7. MSIA reserves the right to modify or cancel the Program and all valid Passports at any time without notice. MSIA is not responsible for expenses incurred or opportunities forgone by cancellation or modification of the program. 8. If a Passport is lost or stolen, notify MSIA immediately. Participating resorts will not replace or assist with lost or stolen Passports. MSIA reserves the right to make case-by-case determinations concerning replacement of Passports. 9. All information in the application is subject to verification by and becomes the property of MSIA. Information provided by Passport applicants may be used by MSIA and others. 10. Passport is not valid without a photo placed on the inside front cover. 11. Passport is not valid on dates noted on each individual Lift Visa, Trail Visa and other coupons in this Passport. 12. Passport is not valid with any other discount, including school programs, White Gold Card, or on the purchase of multi-day packages and is not redeemable in cash or trade. The passport is valid when the paying adult is a season pass holder at that particular ski area, except where noted on individual Lift Visas and Trail Visas in this booklet. 52 Your Responsibility Code: Always stay in control and be able to stop or avoid other people and objects. People ahead of you always have the right of way. It is your responsibility to avoid them. Do not stop in the middle of a trail or where it is hard for other skiers to see you. Always look uphill and yield to others before starting downhill. Pay attention to all signs and warnings.
