1 March 2013 DUCK TALES -SPONSOR OF THE MONTH- Maze Collision Repair MAZE COLLISION REPAIR began in 1981 in a barn behind Johnny and Sandy Maze s home in St. Peters. By 1983 they had saved enough money to build a location in old town St. Peters, at the time employing only one person, besides themselves. Twenty-eight years later, they have three locations: St Peters, Wentzville and Wright City, and employ approximately 40 people. They are a preferred pro shop for most major insurance companies. Their business hours are Monday thru Friday, from 7AM to 6PM. MAZE Collision Repair is a DCYC membership family owned and operated business. Johnny and Sandy Maze have two daughters who are also involved in the everyday activities of the business. This season we will introduce new menus from the kitchen as well as from the bar. Some fresh new faces on staff will join the familiar faces you already know. With the addition of late night happy hours as well as a breakfast buffet on Sundays starting in May. I am excited for what this season will bring. I look forward to seeing all of you on opening weekend. The March and April hours of operation are as follows: Thursday open at 5PM Friday-Sunday open at Noon Kitchen will close at 9PM on Thursday and Sunday Kitchen will close at 10PM on Friday and Saturday Join us opening weekend March 14th-17th There will be an Anchor Yankers meeting on the 14th, a fish fry on the 15th, Marquis Knox on the 16th and a St Patty s Day Party on the 17th All you can eat Fish Fry on Fridays in March $9.95 Hand Battered Cod Fresh Chips and House Made Slaw Easter Brunch will be Sunday March 31st from 10AM to 1PM. 4 Page 4 Duck Tales Letter From Our 2013 Commodore Kathy Laramie To the Duck Club, Hope everyone is faring well in the off-season. It won t be long now until club opening, and I am looking forward to seeing everyone. The board of directors met in February and discussed and approved several projects. First, the leveling of the pool-side concrete, approved last year, will continue as planned. Second, a new security system was proposed and approved, that will install a new card access system on the Front gate and G-dock with a wireless link to a database at the clubhouse. This will allow people to enter the gates with a unique keypad code and/or card tied to their dock/social membership/vendor etc. Additionally 2 cameras at the gate entrance will be installed (to capture face and license plate). This system can be expanded overtime to include cameras at the harbor entrance, etc. Good news on the procurement of our public water. St. Charles got out of the water business, but we now have an indefinite source of water at a stable price from a St. Louis county location. See you all soon, Kathy Laramie Commodore

5 March 2013 Issue 224 Page 5 From the Harbormaster Mike Eberhardt: As spring approaches and more activity is happening at the club you will notice that there are new speed limit signs that have been posted on the property. Your speed of 15MPH is very important for the safety of all concerned. Due to the large size of our parking lots it is easy to go fast without realizing your speed. We now have a wind sock out on the rivers edge about 300ft up from the lighthouse. It will serve two purposes,; the first being it is a great indicator of the wind in the harbor when docking, and secondly the Duck Club Yacht Club is an official landing site for air evacuation rescue. The wind sock and related equipment has been donated by Doug Wood and Joe Grygiel who are employees of Air-Evac and currently own three slips in the harbor. They are a great asset to club and Doug is a current board member as the Director of Water. Dredging will be done late in the month of March by request of owners. If you think you need your slip dredged please call the club at Please do not leave a message if the phone is not answered, you will need to call back and talk with me personally. Miscommunication will not be an excuse for missed dredging. Remember I am available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. If you ever see something you think is not right please do not assume I know about it. I can only be in 2 or 3 places at once. Thanks Mike Eberhardt Harbormaster

Ray Wilson was the big winner walking away with $800 cash. Ray purchased 6 tickets for the event. Mega Yacht Pot winners were. 1 st quarter was Tony Longo $400 2 nd quarter was Kathy Morrow $400 3 rd quarter was Julie Deutchman $400 4 th quarter was Ray Wilson $800 Bob Bales didn t do bad himself winning the Yacht Pot and a few other small pots he walked away with over $200 cash. Thanks for everyone s support in this event, all 100 tickets were sold. A special thanks goes to Jerry Hadley and Al Foster for all their help making this another successful Social Committee event.
