The victim's temperature control system, which produces sweating to cool the body, stops working. The body temperature can rise so high that brain damage and death may result if the body is not cooled quickly. Signals include hot, red, and dry skin; changes in consciousness, rapid, weak pulse, and rapid, shallow breathing. Welcome new and returning board members! Welcome to a new year with Skunk Hollow! It seems strange calling this the beginning of a new year when our main events the skiing and boarding are several months away, and stranger still that after all my years with the Skunks that I m writing this as the prez! Well here I am, and how I got here, well that s a mystery maybe Sally has the answer! But I m glad to be here. Skunk Hollow has always been a great club. Over the years I ve made loads of friends (I know, because they all voted for me!), Jackie Ortaggio, President have had tons of fun and have mastered the art of staying young you know, the growing up is optional part. In short, there s nothing better than living it up with Skunk Hollow! We have some terrific things on the horizon this year. The summer line up of activities is looking good and the ski season will be shaping up over the next several weeks. Take a look through the newsletter and be sure to join us for some laughs and good times. Yep, it s exciting being the president. And I have something special planned too, so I really hope that the year ahead proves memorable. Did I mention, I plan to write a screenplay for a new TV show based on my year as the prez. That s right; I ll be writing my memoirs from my presidential term to produce a new series for CBS. I thought I d call it CSI Skunk Hollow (where the only crime is being a Skunk!). After Las Vegas, Miami and New York, people all over will be asking, just where is Skunk Hollow anyway? This and many more secrets to be revealed! But never fear fellow Skunks, identities and names will be changed to protect the innocent. Well, they ll be changed at any rate, because as we all know, what happens with Skunk Hollow stays with Skunk Hollow! So here s to a great year ahead, and I hope to see all of you real soon! Oh, and if you have a favorite actor or someone that you really feel could capture you on film, let me know. I ll get my people working on it! Page 1

3 Volume 46 Issue 6 Hollow Holler Apple Cider Century Biking and Beach Adventure Once again, the Skunks return to Gintaras (Union Pier, MI), where we will weekend on the beach, take bike rides, walk the beach, go on winery tours, shop till you drop, eat, drink, and enjoy bonfires and sunsets. Apple Cider Century challenges even experienced bikers like Ron and Mary Jo. The Blazing Saddles ride on Sunday is for the casual rider, guided by none other than Blaze himself! And for those who are even more casual, the Zero Club runs concurrently with the other rides, was originated by none other than Peggy Schulte, and convenes on the beach whenever you wake up. The modest price includes two nights lodging at the antiquated beach cottages and a pre-dinner wine & cheese party on Saturday evening. We'll have our annual pot luck dinner on Saturday evening - where everyone brings a dish to pass. The menu will be coordinated as the date draws nearer. We have reserved the beach cottages (1 full / 2 twins). Space is limited and subject to the configuration in the cottages, and only five spots remain. A $50 deposit will hold your spot. There s room for 22 people and 17 have already signed up, so don t dawdle or you ll miss out on this premium weekend. A $50.00 deposit will hold your spot. 4 Hollow Holler Volume 46 Issue 6 St. Charles Bike Ride The May bike ride was canceled due to rain, but it has been rescheduled and at an earlier time. Join your fellow club members for a leisurely two hour ride through scenic St. Charles, IL. We will ride parallel to the Fox River for most of this ride. Meet at the police station parking lot on 1st Street by 1:00 PM. After a leisurely ride we will stop at the Mill Race Inn for food and drinks. The rest of the ride back to the police station in St. Charles is only a few miles from Mill Race Inn. We would like an accurate head count, so as to not leave anybody behind. We ve rented 2 boats. Each will accommodate a cozy ten people. As part of the crew, you ll be assigned duties i.e. cook, cleanup, or captain. Please indicate what job you would like or I will assign you one that has ot been requested. Experience a Tom Sawyer type vacation. Add to it these modern conveniences: sun deck, bath/shower, stereo, central air, on deck grill, water slide, and swimming platform. We are going to have a great time. 5 Volume 46 Issue 6 Hollow Holler CMSC Trip Seminar 2006 Recap It pays to get involved! Skunk Hollow Board Members met at the Sheraton Gateway Suites O Hare for the CMSC Trip Seminar on May 20th. This is where ski trips for the upcoming year get proposed after visiting with resort representatives, tour operators, and other exhibitors. After the Seminar, CMSC holds their annual club awards and raffle drawings. Due to the club s involvement in CMSC related activities, Skunk Hollow has been awarded third place. Congratulations goes to Cheryl Dinwiddie for her efforts as Newsletter Chairperson. The Hollow Holler ranked first place for clubs our size. Raffle awards were won by JQ (Mt. Rose fleece jacket), Sally Griffith (2 night stay at Ski Brule + canoeing), Lynn Grosse (2 day lift tickets to Stowe VT), Cheryl Dinwiddie (4 night 3 day lift tickets for two and 1 bedroom condo at The Village at Squaw Valley, NV), and Blaze (4 days skiing, and a round of gold at Mt.
