Note: * delete as reqred Specfcaton Introdcton The followng specfcaton covers the complete Slot Dran lnear dranage system ncldng ancllary fttngs and s compatble wth the standard detal drawngs. Slot Dran 1. The lnear dranage system shall be Slot Dran sppled by Marshalls plc. All channel materals and ancllary prodcts detaled n ths specfcaton shall be sppled by Marshalls. 2. All components of the system shall be type tested and be flly complant wth the reqrements of BS EN 1433:2002: Dranage channels for vehclar and pedestran areas Classfcaton, desgn and testng reqrements, markng and evalaton of conformty when nstalled as per manfactrers recommendatons. 3. The lnear dranage system shall be Slot Dran manfactred n pre-cast concrete, wth the excepton of certan ftments manfactred n galvansed steel as sppled by Marshalls n accordance wth Standard Detal Sheets. 4. The lnear dranage shall be a two part system consstng of galvansed/stanless* steel slotted cover set on to precast concrete dranage channels reference (; ; 1; 1; 2)* deep or as ndcated n the contract docments. 5. All components of the Marshalls Slot Dran System shall comply wth Load Classfcaton A15/B125/C250/D400* n accordance wth BS EN 1433:2002 and the followng:. The slot channel shall have a nomnal longtdnal central mono/offset mono/central do/offset do* slot.. The slot channel shall have a clear slot wdth of 10 mm/combned slot wdth of 20 mm*.. The slot shall be dvergent wth a nomnal depth of 105 mm. v. The system shall have a mnmm of 10,000/20,000* mm²/m water nlet apertre area. v. The slot channel wll have a nomnal 3mm thck galvansed/stanless* steel edge. v. The dranage channels shall have an nvert wdth of 100 mm. v. The overall wdth of the channel shall be mm. v. The vertcal channel srfaces and jonts shall be made water tght sng Marshalls M-Flex sealant. x. Slot channel tops shall be made watertght sng Marshalls M-Tape x. The covers shall be lad dry/bonded on to the dranage channel wth Marshalls M-Bond/Mortar Class 12. x. The dstance between access ponts shall be no more than 15/25/50 m*. 6. The lnear dranage system comprsng gratngs, covers, constant depth and transton channels, otfalls, T jnctons channels, end caps, cap otlets, and sealants shall be nstalled to the lne and levels ndcated n the contract docments and n accordance wth the manfactrer s nstrctons and Standard Detals. 7. The dranage system shall be nstalled n accordance wth manfactrers recommendatons, ndstry best practce or as detaled n the contract/ WRc Sewers for Adopton; 7th Edton : 2012/BS EN 752:2008/BS 8000: Part 14:1989*

11 Constrcton Excavaton 1. Sffcent materal shold be excavated to accommodate the dranage channel, concrete beddng and hanchng. 2. Any soft spots or poorly compacted formaton shold be made good. Settng Ot 1. The top of the Slot Dran shold be 5mm below the fnshed pavement srface. 2. It may be advantageos to se settng ot pns and strng lnes to acheve the desred level for the channels. Otfalls 1. Slot Dran otfalls shold be nstalled frst. 2. Sffcent materal shold be excavated to accommodate the trapped Slot Dran otfall nts mm of C25/30 mx (BS &2) concrete s placed n the bottom of the excavaton 4. The bottom secton of the two part otfall s lowered nto poston 5. Sffcent M-Flex sealant s gnned onto the top horzontal srface of the bottom secton of the two part Slot Dran otfall so as to provde a seal between the top and bottom sectons 6. The top secton of the two part Slot Dran otfall s lowered nto poston 7. The beddng concrete shold be lad and broght p level wth ndersde of the pavement beddng corse. 8. The Access Cover & Frame Unts shold be set drectly onto a 10mm bed of mortar wth mortar Class12 to BS EN 998-2:2003 along each sde of the otfall nt. Installaton 1. Beddng concrete (C25/30 to BS &2) of the approprate thckness and depth shall be lad 2. s shall be lad onto the freshly mxed beddng concrete, startng at the otfall,.e. workng phll, channel ends shold abot as tghtly as possble. 3. Alternatvely, the channels may be bedded on to a layer of 10 to 40mm cement mortar (M12 mortar to BS EN 998-2) on a prevosly prepared concrete fondaton. 4. Where cttng s necessary, channels shall be ct so that no sngle Unt s less than 350mm n length. 5. All cttng and trmmng of the Unts shall be carred ot wth a concrete saw or dsc ctter. Jont Sealant 1. Jontng of channels shall occr pror to the fxng of the top nts. A bead of M Flex sealant shold be gnned n to the groove formed when adjacent channels abt. 2. Srpls sealant shall be removed from the nner srface of the Unts as work proceeds. Top Unt Installaton 1. The strng lne shold be set to the level of the top corner of Unts. 2. Agan, startng at the otfall, the nts shold be dry lad onto the channel, se a mortar bed for levellng prposes f reqred to class 12 from BS EN 998-2: The top nts shold be tamped nto poston close to prevosly lad Unts and the algnment checked. 4. The levels shold be checked sng the strng lne and a sprt level. 5. In addton, the general algnment shold be checked from all drectons as each nt s lad. Any Unt devatng by more than 3mm n 3m from lne and level shall be made good by lftng and relayng. 6. The jonts between adjacent top nts shold be sealed wth Marshalls M Tape to prevent ngress of beddng materal from the srrondng pavement. 7. Where cttng s necessary, one or two Unts shall be ct so that no sngle Unt s less than 350mm n length. All cttng and trmmng of the Unts shall be carred ot wth a concrete saw or dsc ctter. 8. Any ct galvansed steel shall be renovated sng Defcon Z or smlar approved materal. End Caps 1. Where the Slot Dran rn does not termnate at an otfall, the base nt shall be sealed sng the correct szed Slot Dran End Cap. 2. The End Cap shall be secrely placed aganst the vertcal end of the base nt and hanched wth fresh concrete (C25/30 mx to BS &2). Pavement Installaton 1. Where Slot Dran s beng lad adjacent to flexbly lad pavng the nlet apertres shold be sealed aganst ngress of beddng or jontng materal drng the constrcton phase. In accordance wth the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974, the Manal Handlng Operaton Reglatons 1992 (as amended 2004) and the Constrcton (Desgn and Management) Reglatons 2015, rsk assessments shold be carred ot to protect workers from rsks assocated wth mscloskeletal dsorders and work related pper lmb dsorders.
