2 Hello my fellow members; Board President s Message After a very trying and difficult year of 2009, I am very pleased to advise that this year has gotten off to an excellent start with the addition of 35 new and returning members. Unfortunately, we also lost 25 continuing members this year, but we are on an uptick in recruiting new members and are ahead of this year s budget in the full time member role. Your Board of Governors has been active in meeting the needs of the Club and is looking to the future as we prepare for the next generation of Club users. When you see a new face around the Club, please extend a warm welcome. The Board has approved a limited capital improvement program for this year. You will notice the painting and redecorating of the Pro Shop building. These improvements are sorely needed so we are no longer hampered by the appearance of this building as we recruit new members. We will also be able to host our current members in a facility that has been refreshed with paint inside and outside, new lighting, new flooring throughout and new carpet in the locker room. Please extend your thanks to the House committee, chaired by Hal May and Jef Glenn, for their diligence and to Will Davis for his leadership in securing the expertise to complete the project within a very limited budget. The beautification project for this year will be completed when the new front door and awning are installed in the main club house within the next month. I encourage you to visit the club website often, as it will guide you to the upcoming club events and activities. Please use the site to reserve your choice in club events, or you may call and speak to Amy, Connie or Will as in the past. The staff is always pleased to speak with you and listen to your suggestions for activities that you may want to have the club host and schedule in the future. I also encourage our tennis members to invite potential tennis players to join the Greenville tennis privilege alternative. This is the most inexpensive tennis privilege that we have ever offered and is one that will be available only for a limited time. In addition, you will see extensive play on the courts on June 4 through 6 as the USTA Association will conduct its Senior State Championship (Men and Women). All of the courts in town will be used, and we will be the local site of the headquarters for the Tournament. I would encourage you to visit the courts during this time, and you will see some excellent tennis from our members and guests. On the social scene, the Thursday night family nights are well accepted. If you have not experienced it, I encourage you to do so. It offers terrific menus at an excellent price. Your Social committee has been very active in planning events that you have suggested and are eager to meet your requests for functions that you support. Have a look at the calendar and you will see a full slate of activities. The pool has now been opened in time for Memorial Day activities and the GCC summer swim team events. I wish all well for an enjoyable summer season and as always, if you have comments, questions, or suggestions, please contact me or Will Davis. B. J. Myers GCC President Food and Beverage News The Clubhouse will be closed for the months: July and August No Food Minimum Charges will be assessed during this time period. 1 Greenville Country Club News JUNE/JULY/AUG 2010
3 Ambassador Membership Program Ambassador 2010 Membership Program Our new Membership Plan is off to a great start as we added over thirty new members to the club since the initiation of this program. As we move into Summer 2010, we are looking forward to plenty of additional success with our Ambassador 2010 Membership Program. The program is designed to reward our current members and to quickly grow our membership by: Rewarding current members who sponsor a new member with up to $50/month dues reductions for 2 years! All new members will receive up to $50/month introductory dues deduction for 2 years! As a token, each new member will receive Club Bucks up to $400! Establishing a New Social Category priced at $135 per month! New Members in ANY category will pay ZERO initiation fee GCC members are encouraged to stop by the club s office or contact Will Davis to learn more about the Ambassador 2010 Membership Program. We hope all members consider taking this rare opportunity to lower their monthly dues while helping the club identify and add valuable new members.
