3 Good afternoon, and welcome to Walton Lane for today s Sussex County League Division Three Cup 2 nd Round tie against Southwick. We extend a warm welcome to our visitors who have travelled along the coast for this afternoon s game, and to match referee, Bob Minty, from Felpham. It s nice to finally get back to action today after nearly a month without kicking a ball in anger owing to the weather- and having a free weekend due to the League make-up. That last game was the eagerly anticipated local derby at Sidlesham, which we were a little disappointed to not come away with the win having had the lions share of the chances over the 90 minutes. We re now without defender Ricky Mullen (on today s cover) for a four game stretch starting today after his straight red against Sids, however Ben Blanshard is likely to return to the squad after a lengthy lay off with a thigh injury. It s also likely goalkeeper Kieran Magee will get his opportunity between the sticks with regular shotstopper, Simon Hasted away. This is Southwick s second visit to Walton Lane this season, having already returned home victorious from the corresponding Division 3 fixture back in November, with a 0-2 victory a match which also brought ourfirsthomedefeatoftheseason. Both teams are going well in the League, with Southwick s last defeat in November at Langney, and are still chasing silverware on three fronts having made the quarter finals of the Sussex Intermediate Cup. Ourunder16 syouthteamgetamuch deserved mention this week, with John Stead s side moving into the Invitation Cup semi-final with a 4-1 victory here against Worthing United Dynamos on January 11. Goals that day came from the prolific James Davies, Joseph Lambert, William Reynolds and Aiden Wadey. Wewishthemwellastheytakeonthe A Division s basement side, Barnham Trojans on Sunday, February 1, for a place in the final. The reserves are without a fixture today,buttraveltorustingtonon31 st. Off the field, we are in the process of renewing our FA Charter Standard status which we hope to incorporate the youth team in, with the goal to be recognised in providing a safe, and structured environment for players of all ages to enjoy their football. Please note that today s game will be played toafinish, with aperiod of 30 minutes extra time if the teams are level at the end of normal time. This will then be followed by penalty kicks, should it be necessary. Enjoy the game, and Up The Robins!

21 By BOB PROBEE After a two year break from competitive football, Bosham entered the Bognor& District Football League. It was a happy return as the Club finished fourth in the league and were semi-finalists in both the Bognor League Charity Cup (losing 0-1 to to Boxgrove at Westgate Brewery FC) and the Chichester Charity Cup, a 2-7 reversal against Portfield Reserves at Priory Park. In the league, the Robins scored an average of over five goals per match. The next season, , Bosham were promoted back to the Chichester & District League with the clubs newly formed Reserve side entering the Bognor& District League. At this time the Sussex County League consisted of just one division of 14 teams. Haywards Heath were champions for the second consecutive year.
