You made us proud Saturday night at the Hickory High School Competition! How rewarding to be on the field with your friends putting on an amazing show! We re looking forward to cheering you on again at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex this weekend! I would like to compliment the character of the students I witnessed while chaperoning. They worked hard without complaint at the middle school prior to busing to Hickory High School. Upperclassmen helped and encouraged underclassmen throughout the day. Our students applauded other bands and left the stadium clean upon exit. Our Marching Wildcats celebrated TOGETHER upon hearing their band announced at the awards ceremony. The Marching Wildcats will perform pep music from the stands at AWAY games. The Marching Wildcats will perform their show GLITCH during half time at HOME games. During HOME football games, volunteers are needed for Concessions (runners, wrappers, grillers, and workers), the 50/50 Raffle (bleacher ticket sales until half time) and chaperoning. 3 Driven to Give Fundraiser on 10/13, 9am-1pm The band and PTSA will split the proceeds 50/50 from the October 13th Driven to Give fundraiser. This is one of the best fundraiser opportunities out there with the potential of earning $8,000 total over just 4 hours! All you must do is show up at the GBHS bus loop, fill out a short survey on an ipad, and test drive one to three vehicles. There is ABSOLUTELY no obligation to buy or be contacted any further by a sales representative (we participated last year, and Lincoln has been true to their word no further contact for those who opt out) and it s a quick, easy process. Anyone 18 or older with a valid driver s license can participate. PLEASE ask grandparents, neighbors, co-workers, etc. to come out and drive. They can also enjoy the GBHS Fall Craft Show while there. Opportunities to volunteer during the event will be listed in Charms early this week. Wildcat Fees: If your wildcat fees are not paid in full by October 15th, your child will not be able to participate in the JMU trip. 5 Donations Needed! Donations for small water bottles needed for 8 th Grade Night on October 12, Please leave donations by the freezer in the band room. Thank you so much!! Citrus sale order forms were handed out to the students during class. Orders are due 10/31. Products will be delivered between 12/3 and 12/15. Link is Volunteers Needed for Senior Night We are looking for a lot of help from all NON-SENIOR families to provide food, tables/chairs, and help set up/clean up on October 19. The marching wildcat seniors and parents will attend the pregame procession onto the football field and their names will be announced. The GBBPA will host a dinner reception for the seniors and their parents during the 1st quarter of the game. Please log into charms for the volunteer signup sheet. If you have any questions, please text/call Jen Sowers at JMU October 20 th, 2018 The GBBPA will provide lunch for the students, chaperones, instructors, and bus drivers. Please complete the order form Mr. Ross will be sending out. They can choose a turkey, ham, or veggie sandwich. We will also serve drinks, pasta salad, individually bagged chips and desserts. Please send an alternate meal for your child, if needed. Halloween Treat Bags The Hospitality Committee is looking for donations of Halloween candy, so we can hand out treat bags after the last marching band competition of the season on October 27. Please clearly label all donations treat bags and deliver to the band room and put by the freezer. Please turn in all donations by October 22 nd, 2018.

6 Thank you to everyone who came out to 3 Amigos last week! We made $180!!! Be sure to present the Buffalo Wild Wings Teammate card (included in this newsletter) at the Edinburgh location anytime you eat there between October 1st and December 1st. 7 Jason's Deli Game Day Boxed Meal Deadline: Order by October 3 if you want a meal on October 5 Please PRE-ORDER your game day boxed meal for the away game at King's Fork. Due to past issues at games at this school, the band will not be allowed to go to the concession stand. They will eat at school between 4:30-5:15 before the bus leaves at 5:30. Water will be provided. If you choose not to order a meal from Jason's Deli please send a substitute meal for your child. We will provide a snack after halftime.
