Wow, does time fly!? October was a busy month for Mountain View we had our first school parties for the Fall, and our sub and sandwich sale was a great success again! And now we are moving on to the Holiday Season! Are you keeping up with the Mountain View Co-Op Website? There is lots of information on the website, so please check it for news! If you are unsure of how to get to our website Go to cdschools.org / Select Mountain View Elementary / Click Organizations / And there NOVEMBER CALENDAR OF EVENTS: it is the Co-Op Website. Nov 1 Recipes due to Cookbook Committee Chair I am also very excited to announce we Nov 2 Skating Olympic in Enola (4:30pm-6:30pm) received our Mountain View magnets. The Nov 3 Bounce U Event (4:00pm 6:00pm) magnets measure 5 x 3.5 oval (see below) Nov 4 MV Book Fair and are $2.00 each. Order forms were Nov 5 No School - Bake Fair, Conferences, MV Book Fair ed out, are on the Co-Op Website under Forms and in the school office. Nov 7 Musical Cast and Parent Meeting Purchased magnets will be sent home with Nov 11 Kindergarten Conferences your child. Thanks again for supporting our (No School for Kindergarten) fabulous school! Nov 12 Musical Rehearsals begin Nov 14 Picture Retake Day Nov 19 MV Talent Show Dress Rehearsal Nov 20 MV General Co-Op Meeting 6:30pm (Library) Nov 22 MV Talent Show 7:00pm Nov 28, Nov 29 No School Attention Parents: Please remember that Mountain View Elementary has been designated a building with Peanut/Nut-free zones. School Security Parent Advisory Committee Payal Loser and Crystal Shaffer are Mountain View s PAC representatives and meet monthly with school board members and administrative personnel to discuss issues that parents have regarding our schools and/or students. Co-Op Meeting, November 20 Please mark your calendars for the next General Co-Op Meeting, on Wednesday, November 20th, 6:30 p.m., in the Library. Hope to see you all there!

2 President s Message (cont.) Auditions are now complete for the Musical Disney s The Little Mermaid. We had a fabulous turn out with 86 auditions this year. Thank you to all who signed up. All roles are posted on the Musical website. The musical performances will be held March 1 st and 2 nd at Linglestown Middle School, so mark it on your calendars! We had our first Family Dine-Out Night event at Pizza Hut in October, and it was a FABULOUS turn out! So fabulous that they ran out of food! We want to thank everyone who participated in the great event for our school! We hope to see you at the next event at Subway in November. The Committee has forewarned the Subway owner of the turnout we had for Pizza Hut, so he is well prepared! And don t forget, this Subway has pizza too. Let s try and make this event bigger than the last! Here are a few reminders to help you stay connected to what the Co-Op has to offer, please: - Check your child s book bag and the Co-Op Website for flyers, info, etc.; - Read the newsletter monthly; - Read the Co-Op Calendar of Events in the school lobby; After School Clubs - Volunteers Needed! JANUARY AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS NEED YOU! Do you have a passion, gift, talent or hobby that you'd be willing to share with our kids at Mountain View? Don't be shy...give After School Clubs chairperson, Sarah Axtman, a holler at axtmangpsl@comcast.net! Mountain View After School Clubs are offered after school during the four Wednesdays of January. This program was designed to enhance classroom skills and subjects by bringing those concept to our kids in a NEW and FUN way through a club. In the past, we have offered book clubs; science clubs; music clubs; poetry clubs; crochet clubs; large motor skill clubs like dodgeball and baton twirling; creative clubs like scrapbooking, card making, percussion club and duct tape crafts; thinking clubs like board games, chess, imagination station...and much more. Sky is virtually the limit, but we need to bring a club concept down to the level of a first thru fifth grader, and set a class-size limit and more. NOW is the time to throw your ideas out, EVEN IF that is not your skill...we are open and in need of your help in this way. We are also in need of volunteers to help set up the healthy snack offered before each club session. Do you have older kids who are Mountain View alum? They are welcome to contact me as well to earn service hours...they can serve as club AIDS and assistants and I would be happy to sign off on hours for national honor society, church, sports teams, scouts or whatever they are involved in. THANKS for your time and for helping create something DIFFERENT and INTERESTING through our clubs. - Please signup to volunteer for the Co-Op committees; - Attend our Co-Op meetings, if your schedule permits. This is a way to get your voice and ideas heard. We love new ideas! - Visit Mountain View s website. Co-Op is located under Organizations. The website has been updated with all Committee information. Remember, there is no fee to be a part of the Mountain View Co- Op. Just attend the meetings and find out what s new and exciting or in the planning stages. Or just come and listen and give your ideas. I appreciate everyone s hard work so far this year and can t wait to continue working with the board, teachers, administration, committee chairs and the many volunteers that make Mountain View s Co-Op a complete success! Danielle Wylie YEARBOOK COVER CONTEST WINNERS ANNOUNCED! The Yearbook Covers have been selected by the Board. I am proud to announce that 1st place goes to Mikayla DeMatt and 2nd place goes to Paige Updegrove. Congratulations girls, and we can t wait to see the final yearbooks in May! The final covers are posted on the Co-Op Website under the Yearbook link. Yearbook forms came home in October, and all order forms and money are due November 8th. This year you have many choices for yearbooks, from soft cover to hard cover, to inserts to no inserts. Please see your order form for details. Thanks to all who participated!

3 School Reminders Skating Party, November 2nd Come join your Mt. View friends at our next skating party, November 2nd, from 4:30 p.m.- 6:30 p.m., at Olympic Skating Rink in Enola. Cost is $3.00 per person, with a separate charge for skate rentals and refreshments. This is our last skating party in 2013! Fall, Fun & Bounce U, November 3rd, 4pm-7pm! We have another fantastic event coming up, from the wonderful Health & Fitness Committee - Bouncing at Bounce U! This is a presale event. No fundraising, but students have to be pre-registered in order to attend. Snacks to be provided - one snack bag per child. Mountain View Talent Show November 22 Come and see the talented students of Mt. View at our Annual Talent Show! Our students are busy getting their acts ready, and it s sure to be an incredible show! The Talent Show Dress Rehearsal will be held after school on Tuesday, November 19. Teacher Appreciation Committee Family Dine-Out Night November 12 at Subway We all need to eat dinner, and especially with all of the sports and activities in full-swing, who wouldn t love a night that we don t have to cook or clean up! November 12th at Subway on North Mountain Road is our next Dine-Out night, from 4:00pm 8:00pm. Coupons will be sent home with students, and we will also have extra coupons on the Co-Op Website on the Family Dine- Out Night web page. Please print them out and give them to family and friends. We are also looking for any volunteers who would like to help out at these events. Please contact Erin Cover for information at eecover@comcast.net. We are looking forward to some delicious Teacher Appreciation Luncheons, starting with our first luncheon scheduled for Tuesday, November 5. We will be planning for our Teacher Appreciation events a little differently this year, by opening up the volunteering to all Mountain View parents. We are hoping to get extra participation in the form of food / supply donations for the Teacher Appreciation events. This volunteering opportunity is a wonderful way to say thank you to all of our amazing teachers!! 4 Easy Income Committee Updates! Hello Mountain View Families! I just wanted to send out a quick reminder about the Easy Income Committee. Please continue to send in Box Tops and Campbell's Labels!!!! Box Tops usually makes us close to or more than $1, each year. Campbell's Labels will give us points (not money), and we can use the points to purchase items for the kids. Last year, we purchased many playground toys since they are used so hard every day. Also, the classroom with the most at the end of the year will win a classroom pizza party or another fun surprise!! We also do the Giant A+ School Rewards Program. This always makes us at least $5, a year. All you have to do is designate your Giant Bonus Card to our school. This can be done at a Giant Store or just by going online to You will need our school # We earn 1% of each shopping order that you make during the promotional period. EASY MONEY! This has nothing to do with your Giant Gas Rewards. Ask neighbors, friends, relatives and co-workers for their #s. Feel free to me any #s you collect, and I will gladly enter them online for you. Finally, we do the Target RED Cards (Credit Card) Program. If you have or obtain a Target Red Card (credit card), you can designate Mt. View Elem. School, and we will receive 1% of your total purchases. This can be done online or at a Target store. All you have to do is shop! Thanks again for all of your help!! Call or me with any questions! View Meals & Munchies Cookbook We are excited to announce that we will have a Mountain View Cookbook for sale at our Holiday Shoppe on December 6th. Thanks to Lynlee Sheeler for organizing this fun project. Forms and s went home in October, and all recipes are due November 1st. Please make sure you send them into the school or to Lynlee at las511o@hotmail.com. Thanks for sharing your favorite recipes! Social Activities Committee: Mark your calendars!!! Mountain View is headed back to the Big Apple on Saturday, December 14th!! Tickets will be per person, which includes driver tip. Seats are limited and will be reserved on a first come, first- served basis. Pickup is at 6:30 a.m. at Mt. View; leave from NYC at 6:45 p.m. Checks can be made to Mt. Out and About in the Community : November 1st 7:00pm CD Rams vs. CD East Panthers Football Game at Landis Field Sundays at ASAP behind Arooga's on 22 - Open Gym from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. Cost is $10 ASAP members, $15 non-members. Zoo America is open year round except for extremely rainy days- $9.95 per person. Santa Claus will be at the Colonial Park mall starting Saturday, November 23rd at noon. Bass Pro's holiday events start the following weekend with an indoor carousel and holiday crafts. Hershey Park in the Dark runs October 18th - November 8th for $24.95 per person. Dutch Wonderland Happy Huntings runs now through November 8th and is per person; $3.00 off coupons are on their website which would make admission $ Harrisburg Holiday Parade is Saturday, November 23rd at noon.
