USU hasn t had a losing season since 1993, a span of 18 years. Utah State is 6-1 at home this year and has won 89 of its last 92 home games. Under current head coach Stew Morrill, USU is (.934) at home including a 99-6 (.943) record against non-conference opponents. All-time, Utah State is (.822) in this its 42nd season playing inside the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. Utah State had won 33 straight home games prior to its home loss to Denver on Nov. 30 as that 33-game winning streak was the third-longest active streak in the nation and the second-longest in school history. USU had also won 17 straight home games against nonconference opponents before its loss to the Pioneers. Utah State is 42-1 (.977) all-time in tournaments it hosts as it went 3-0 in the World Vision Invitational (2010), Basketball Travelers Invitational (2009) and the Duel in the Desert (2008), 26-0 in the Gossner Foods Holiday Classic ( ) and 5-1 in the Big Blue Classic ( , 1982), losing to Wyoming, 92-85, on Dec. 28, 1971 in the championship game, along with its 2-0 record in this year s Athletes In Action Classic. Utah State is (.786) during the month of December under Morrill, which includes a 68-2 (.971) record at home. USU is also (.837) in games played on Thursday under Morrill and 10-3 (.769) all-time in known games played on Dec. 22. Utah State is 3-1 on the season and has won 109 of its last 112 games when holding its opponents under 60 points. In fact, USU is (.930) under Morrill when allowing fewer than 60 points. Utah State has made at least one three-point basket in 175 straight games and the last time USU did not make a three-pointer in a game was on Dec. 16, 2006 in Provo as BYU defeated the Aggies, USU entered that game having made at least one three-pointer in 127 games dating back to Dec. 14, 2002 when BYU held USU without a three-pointer in a win in Provo. Utah State is one of just three teams in the nation to win at least 23 games in each of the last 12 seasons along with Gonzaga and Kansas. The previous USU record for consecutive 20-win seasons was three from 1962 to Overall, USU has won 20 or more games 26 times in school history. During the last 12 years, Utah State has averaged 25.8 wins per season.

The game will not be televised, but is available to listen to live via the Aggie Sports Network. LOOKING AT UTAH STATE Utah State is 7-5 on the season after defeating Saint Peter s, 72-47, Wednesday. USU is led by sophomore guard Preston Medlin who is averaging 13.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game, and is shooting 48.2 percent from the field, 48.3 percent from three-point range and 73.7 percent at the free throw line. Senior guard Brockeith Pane is averaging 11.4 points and 3.2 assists per game, and is shooting 36.8 percent from the field, 25.0 percent from three-point range and 76.0 percent at the free throw line, while senior forward Morgan Grim is averaging 9.8 points and 6.8 rebounds, and is shooting 48.2 percent from the field and 68.5 percent at the free throw line. As a team, Utah State is averaging 66.7 points and shooting 45.7 percent from the field, 40.0 percent from three-point range and 67.9 percent at the free throw line. Defensively, USU is allowing 62.9 points and its opponents are shooting 39.6 percent from the field, 30.7 percent from three-point range and 70.9 percent at the free throw line. RANKING UTAH STATE IN THE WAC As of Thursday, Dec. 22, Utah State ranks first in the WAC in scoring defense (62.9), second in three-point field goal percentage (.400), second in three-point field goal percentage defense (.307), third in field goal percentage (.457), third in field goal percentage defense (.396), third in scoring margin (+3.7), fourth in free throw shooting (.679), fifth in blocked shots (3.08), and fifth in rebound margin (-0.2). Individually, sophomore guard Preston Medlin ranks fourth in three-point shooting (.483), sixth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.62), eighth in assists (3.50), ninth in scoring (13.8), ninth in overall shooting (.482), and 13th in free throw shooting (.737). Senior point guard Brockeith Pane ranks ninth in steals (1.25), ninth in assist-to-turnover ratio (0.95), 10th in assists (3.17), and 11th in free throw shooting (.760). Senior forward Morgan Grim ranks eighth in blocked shots (0.83), eighth in rebounding (6.8), and 10th in field goal shooting (.482). And junior forward Kyisean Reed ranks second in overall shooting (.567), 12th in blocked shots (0.64), and 15th in rebounding (4.7). UTAH STATE RETURNS JUST ONE STARTER AND FOUR LETTERMEN IN Utah State s one returning starter (Brockeith Pane) is its fewest since returning one starter during the season. USU finished with a 23-8 record that season, including tying for first-place in the Big West Conference with a 13-5 mark and advanced to the postseason National Invitation Tournament. USU s four returning lettermen (E.J. Farris, Morgan Grim, Brady Jardine, Brockeith Pane) are its fewest since returning three lettermen for the season. UTAH STATE LOSES FOUR STARTERS AND EIGHT LETTERWINNERS FROM 2011 NCAA TEAM Utah State lost four starters (Nate Bendall, Tyler Newbold, Tai Wesley, Pooh Williams) and four other letterwinners (Brad Brown, Matt Formisano, Brian Green, James Walker III) from last year s WAC Championship team. Wesley was named the WAC s Player of the Year and an honorable mention All-American, while Green earned second-team all-wac honors and Newbold was named to the league s all-defensive team. Bendall and Wesley also joined current Aggie Brockeith Pane on the WAC s all-tournament team. NEXT WEEK Following Christmas, Utah State will play at No. 17/18 Mississippi State (11-1) on Saturday, Dec. 31 at 1 p.m. (MT).

3 LOOKING BACK AT THE SAINT PETER S GAME Senior forward Morgan Grim had 17 points and 10 rebounds for his second career doubledouble in leading Utah State to an easy home win Wednesday against Saint Peter s in game four the 2011 Athletes In Action Classic, sponsored by Gossner Foods. Utah State improves to 7-5 on the year with the win and is now riding a season-best three-game winning streak. Saint Peter s falls to 2-9 overall and has lost five straight games. Utah State has now scored 70 or more points in each of its last four games after scoring 70-plus points just once in its first eight outings. Overall, USU is 4-1 this year and has won 65 of its last 68 games when scoring at least 70 points. Grim finished the night shooting 8-of-10 from the field and was 1-for-1 at the free throw line in 25 minutes. Senior point guard Brockeith Pane added 12 points, while junior forward Kyisean Reed and freshman forward Ben Clifford each scored nine points for the home team. Markese Tucker came off the bench to score 12 points for Saint Peter s. For the second straight game, Utah State got off to a fast start as it raced out to a 20-4 lead and increased its advantage to 21 at 28-7 following a jumper from sophomore guard Preston Medlin. Two Reed free throws gave Utah State a lead with 1:28 to play in the half and USU went into the locker room up 24 at Utah State shot 46.7 percent in the first-half (14-30), including 50.0 percent from three-point range (4-8). USU was also a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line in the first 20 minutes. Saint Peter s shot just 19.2 percent in the first-half (5-26), including 30.0 percent from three (3-10) and 66.7 percent at the line (4-6). Saint Peter s would never get closer than 21 points in the second half as Utah State coasted to the 25-point win. Utah State finished the game shooting 48.1 percent overall (25-52), including 40.0 percent from three-point range (4-10) and a season-high 78.3 percent at the free throw line (18-23). Saint Peter s shot 32.1 percent for the game (18-56), including just 26.7 percent from three (4-15) and 53.8 percent at the line (7-13). USU also out-rebounded SPC by seven (38-31) and recorded a season-best seven blocked shots. Saint Peter s 47 points was also a season-low for an Aggie opponent this year. UTAH STATE CONTINUES TO IMPRESS ON THE DEFENSIVE END OF THE FLOOR Utah State has played very well on defense for the most part this year and had one of its best games of the season in its last outing as it held Saint Peter s to 32.1 percent shooting (18-56), including just 26.7 percent shooting from three-point range (4-15). Saint Peter s also scored just 47 points, which is a season-low for an Aggie opponent. On the year, Utah State has now held seven of its 12 opponents to under 40 percent shooting. During its last six games, Utah State s opponents are shooting just 38.0 percent from the field ( ) and just 29.2 percent from three-point range (35-120). UTAH STATE RIDING SEASON-BEST THREE-GAME WINNING STREAK For the first time this year, Utah State has won back-to-back-to-back games with home wins against Seattle (78-53), UT Arlington (73-69) and Saint Peter s (72-47). Utah State s winning percentage in Western Athletic Conference games during the last six years. Teams who have won at least 23 games in each of the last 12 years (Utah State, Gonzaga, Kansas). UTAH STATE SCORES 70-PLUS POINTS IN EACH OF ITS LAST FOUR GAMES With its win against Saint Peter s, Utah State has now scored at least 70 points in each of its last four games after scoring 70-plus points just once during its first eight games. During its last four games, Utah State is averaging 74.8 points and shooting 50.3 percent from the field ( ), 42.6 percent from three-point range (26-61) and 73.7 percent at the free throw line (73-99). UTAH STATE STARTS SAME LINEUP IN CONSECUTIVE GAMES FOR THIRD TIME THIS YEAR For just the third time this year, Utah State started the same lineup (F-Grim, F-Reed, G-Pane, G-Berger, G-Medlin) in consecutive games against UT Arlington and Saint Peter s. Overall, USU has started eight different lineups and 11 different players thus far this year and the Aggies have yet to start the same lineup in three-straight games during the season. Furthermore, the only players to start all 12 games for Utah State this year are senior forward Morgan Grim and sophomore guard Preston Medlin. AGGIE RESERVES PLAYING WELL DURING LAST FOUR GAMES Utah State s bench has been very productive in its last five games as it scored a season-high tying 31 points against Seattle, to go along with 27 points against both Wichita State and Utah Valley, 15 points against UT Arlington and 27 points in its last game against Saint Peter s. During its last five games, Utah State s bench is averaging 25.4 points and 12.2 rebounds, while shooting 55.6 percent from the field (45-81), 41.7 percent from three-point range (10-24) and 64.3 percent at the free throw line (27-42). On the season, USU s reserves are averaging 19.0 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. For Grim, it was his fifth career double-figure scoring game and his second career double-figure rebounding game. During his last five games, Grim is averaging 7.4 points and 7.8 rebounds, while shooting 53.3 percent from the field (16-30) and 55.6 percent at the free throw line (5-9). GRIM SETS GOSSNER TOURNAMENT SINGLE-GAME RECORD Senior forward Morgan Grim set a Gossner Foods single-game tournament record by shooting 80.0 percent from the field (8-10) against Saint Peter s. The previous record was 72.7 percent shooting (8-11) from Weber State s Kyle Bullinger against Utah State in PANE SCORES IN DOUBLE-FIGURES FOR 30TH TIME IN HIS CAREER AGAINST SAINT PETER S Senior point guard Brockeith Pane scored in double-figures for the eighth time this year and 30th time in his career with 12 points against Saint Peter s, after scoring a total of six points in his previous two games. During his last five games, Pane is averaging 9.0 points and 2.8 assists, while shooting 35.7 percent from the field (15-42), 18.2 percent from three-point range (2-11) and 68.4 percent at the free throw line (13-19). FARRIS RECORDS CAREER-HIGH FIVE ASSISTS AGAINST SAINT PETER S Junior guard E.J. Farris has played very well for Utah State during its last three games and recorded a career-high five assists while playing a season-best 18 minutes in his last game against Saint Peter s. Farris also had four points against UT Arlington and a career-high nine points against Seattle. During his last three games, Farris is averaging 5.7 points, 2.0 assists and 1.7 rebounds, while shooting 45.5 percent from the field (5-11), 25.0 percent from three-point range (1-4) and is 6-for-6 at the line. MEDLIN SCORES CAREER-HIGH 27 POINTS AGAINST UT ARLINGTON Redshirt sophomore guard Preston Medlin had his best game as an Aggie against UT Arlington as he scored a career-high 27 points as he was 8-of-12 from the field, 6-of-9 from three-point range and 5-of-6 at the free throw line. Medlin also had a career-high eight rebounds in the game and tied his career-high with two steals. He also had just one turnover against the Mavericks in 33 minutes. MEDLIN S DOUBLE-FIGURE SCORING STREAK ENDS AT SEVEN Redshirt sophomore guard Preston Medlin had scored in double-figures in seven straight games before scoring just two points against Saint Peter s. Overall, Medlin has scored in double-figures eight times this year and nine times in his career, to go along with three 20-point games. During his last eight games, Medlin is averaging 16.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists, while shooting 50.0 percent from the field (43-86), 55.8 percent from three-point range (24-43) and 82.1 percent from the free throw line (23-28). REED S DOUBLE-FIGURE SCORING STREAK ENDS AT FIVE Junior forward Kyisean Reed had scored in double-figures in each of his last five games before scoring nine points in his last game against Saint Peter s. Prior to that game, Reed had tied his career-high in each of his previous three games with 13 points against UT Arlington, Seattle and at Wichita State. He also had 11 points and six rebounds against Utah Valley and 13 points to go along with seven rebounds in a career-best 34 minutes at Pacific. Reed also had 13 points in a home game against Southern Utah and recorded his first double-figure rebounding game at Texas A&M - Corpus Christi as he had 10 boards in his first-ever start. During his last five games, Reed is averaging 11.8 points and 3.8 rebounds, while shooting 60.6 percent from the field (20-33) and 76.0 percent at the free throw line (19-25). REED RANKS SECOND IN THE WAC IN FIELD GOAL SHOOTING As of Thursday, Dec. 22, junior forward Kyisean Reed is shooting 56.7 percent from the field (32-53) to rank second in the WAC. BERGER S DOUBLE-FIGURE SCORING STREAK ENDS AT FOUR Sophomore guard/forward Danny Berger had scored in double-figures in four straight games before scoring five points against Saint Peter s. In his previous game against UT Arlington, Berger tied his career-high with 12 points. Berger also scored 11 points against Seattle, to go along with a career-high 12 points at Wichita State and 10 points against Utah Valley. Berger also had career-highs with seven rebounds, five assists and two steals against the Redhawks. During his last five games, Berger is averaging 10.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists, and shooting 46.9 percent from the field (15-32), 56.3 percent from three-point range (9-16) and is 11-for-11 at the free throw line. Berger sat out the first six games of the year as a potential redshirt before seeing his first action of the season at Pacific. BRUNEEL SCORES CAREER-HIGH 10 POINTS AT WICHITA STATE Sophomore forward Mitch Bruneel scored in double-figures for the first time in his career with 10 points at Wichita State. In his last five games, Bruneel is averaging 5.6 points and shooting 62.5 percent from the field (10-16), 42.9 percent from three-point range (3-7) and 62.5 percent at the free throw line (5-8). 4 December 22, 2011

9 UTAH STATE NATIONALLY RANKED THREE TIMES IN LAST EIGHT YEARS Utah State ended the season ranked No. 25 in the final ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll and ended the season nationally ranked for nine straight weeks, which is its longest streak since being ranked for 11 straight weeks during the season. That No. 25 national ranking for Utah State marks the first time it has been ranked at the end of a season since the USU team finished the year ranked No. 17 in the final United Press Coaches Poll. Overall, it is just the eighth time in school history that an Aggie team has been nationally ranked at the end of the year joining the 1960 (7th), 1962 (19th), 1964 (15th), 1967 (14th), 1970 (17th), 1975 (13th) and 1978 teams (17th). Utah State entered the 2011 NCAA Tournament ranked No. 17 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll and No. 19 in the Associated Press Poll. The Associated Press does not produce an end-of-season poll. PANE NAMED WAC PRESEASON PLAYER OF THE YEAR BY MEDIA Senior guard Brockeith Pane was named the WAC s Preseason Player of the Year by the media and a first-team all-league selection by both the media and coaches heading into the season. Overall, Utah State has had the WAC s Player of the Year three times in the last four years in Jaycee Carroll (2008), Gary Wilkinson (2009) and Tai Wesley (2011). Pane earned first-team all-wac honors and was named to the league s all-newcomer team as a junior, along with being voted the Most Valuable Player of the 2011 WAC Tournament. 10 UTAH STATE NOTES AND TRADITION Utah State s 30 wins during the season are tied with the team for most in school history and its 30-4 record is the best-ever at USU. Utah State also won 25-straight Western Athletic Conference games during the and seasons, to set a school and league record. Utah State s current streak winning four-straight Western Athletic Conference regular season championships is the longest in school history. The previous record for consecutive conference titles was two during the seasons in the Rocky Mountain Athletics Conference and the seasons in the Big West Conference. Utah State finished the season ranked No. 25 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, marking the first time since 1978 that USU has been nationally ranked at the end of the season. It is also just the eighth time in school history that USU has finished the season nationally ranked. USU was ranked for nine straight weeks to end the year, which is its longest streak since the team was ranked for 11 straight weeks. Overall, it was the third time in the last eight years that USU has been nationally ranked. Over the last 12 years, Utah State has averaged 25.8 wins and is one of just three schools in the nation to win at least 23 games in each of those seasons joining Gonzaga and Kansas. Over the past 12 years, Utah State has won seven regular season conference championships and six tournament championships. Utah State has advanced to 12 straight postseason appearances, which is a school record, going to the NCAA Tournament in 2000, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010 and 2011, and to the National Invitation Tournament in 2002, 2004, 2007 and Over the last 12 years, Utah State has gone 25-6 (.806) in conference postseason tournaments and has advanced to the championship game 10 times. The team tied the school record for wins at the time (28) and recorded Utah State s first NCAA Tournament win in 31 years with a overtime victory against Ohio State. 10 December 22, 2011 JARDINE NAMED WAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK ONCE LAST SEASON Senior forward Brady Jardine was named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Nov. 29, 2010 after leading Utah State to a pair of home wins against Utah (79-62) and Northeastern (56-54). Against the Utes, he posted his second-ever doubledouble with a career-high 20 points to go along with a career-high 13 rebounds in a career-high 31 minutes. Jardine was 6-of-7 from the field and 8-of-10 at the free throw line in the game. Against the Huskies, Jardine posted another double-double with 15 points and a career-high tying 13 boards as he was 5-of-10 from the field and 5-of-8 at the free throw line. He also tied his career-high with three blocks and played a careerhigh 34 minutes in the game. For the week, Jardine averaged 17.5 points, 13.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks, while shooting 64.7 percent from the field (11-17) and 72.2 percent at the free throw line (13-18). JARDINE NAMED TO ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAM Utah State men s basketball player Brady Jardine was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII first team last season. Jardine was one of just three players from the Western Athletic Conference to earn academic all-district honors during the season joining teammate Tyler Newbold and Nedeljko Golubovic of Fresno State. The Aggie duo were also the only players from the state of Utah recognized. Along with being academic all-district, Jardine has also earned academic all-wac honors three times in his career. PANE NAMED MOST VALUABLE PLAYER OF WAC TOURNAMENT Senior guard Brockeith Pane was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2011 Western Athletic Conference Tournament as he had 16 points and three rebounds against San Jose State in the semifinals and 19 points, four assists and three rebounds in the championship game against Boise State. For the tournament, Pane averaged 17.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists, while shooting 42.9 percent from the field (9-21) and was a perfect 17-for-17 at the free throw line. UTAH STATE HAS WAC PLAYER OF THE YEAR FOR THIRD TIME IN LAST FOUR YEARS With senior forward Tai Wesley being named the 2011 Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Utah State has now had three of the last four players of the year in the conference as Jaycee Carroll won the award in 2008 and Gary Wilkinson won it in Utah has the most WAC Players of the Year with seven, followed by Nevada with five and BYU with four. Morrill has now been named Coach of the Year in his respective conference six times during his illustrious career as he was named the Big Sky Conference Coach of the Year in 1991 while at Montana, and the Big West Conference Coach of the Year in 2000 and 2002 while at Utah State, along with earning WAC Coach of the Year honors in each of the last three seasons.
