1 FOUNDED IN 1977 TO REPRESENT THE AUTO HOBBY IN NEW MEXICO NEWSLETTER FOR APRIL, 2011 NEXT MEETING TO BE AT OLD CAR GARAGE WEDNESDAY, APRIL 27, 2011, 7:30pm MEETING AGENDA: Museum Car Show Updates, Stuff Goody Bags May 11, Picnic Updates, Form Legislative Committee CAR SHOW SURVIVOR CARS The Car Show Committee is seeking original survivor cars in good condition, at least 40 years old, to feature at the May 15 Car Show. Several people have volunteered cars at this point, and we would like to have at least six more. If someone in your club has an original, unrestored, unmodified car, manufactured before 1972, please have them contact Joyce at or We'd like to create a special window card for these cars, and prior notice will make this possible. The Car Council is now a current member of SEMA. Any club may join for free. It will keep members updated about proposed legislation that affects the car hobby nationwide. If you or your club want to sign up, go to and do it. It costs nothing and should be informative. The editor will publish any pertinent information received. By-laws Committee Report : The By-laws proposed changes ballots were counted at the March meeting. 26 of 30 ballots mailed were returned. Twenty-five voted yes, one voted no. Copies of the revised by-laws will be mailed when they are printed. By-laws Committee Renewals : All persons on the or snail mail list have been mailed an update for your club's current contact information. Please make sure that you return the form if you wish to continue receiving mailings. If you got a form and are not sure if someone else in your club has responded, please send your form back via mail or . Better to have duplicate responses than no response. If not certain, oldcarnut1932@earthlink.net. New Mexico Council of Car Clubs Minutes: March 23, 2011 Meeting Dennis Seibert, our President, called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM and the following club representatives were present; Jim Clements-Tumbleweed V-8 Ford, Bob Agnew-CCCA, Ron and Su Rymarz-OCCA, John Hayne-Tin Lizzies of Albuq, Horseless Carriage Club, Charlie Brown-Zia Studebaker, Roger Goldie-Atomic City Corvettes, Jeff and Lauri Rector NM4Wheelers, Raymond Cotinola-Rickshaws, Lisa BonDurant-Saabisti NM, David Pachak-Robie-Saabisti NM, Bill Lemen-LCOC, Chris Padilla-LOE GTOs, Bob Campbell-Classic Chevy Club ALB, John Wiker-Corvairs of NM, Joe Ballengee-AMCC, Louie Paul-RRCC, VMCCA, Aaron Ashe- ABQ Fast Fords, Les Martinez-CCCOA, Joyce Clements-OCCA, V-8 Club. Treasurer's Report-Ron Rymarz reports that as of this date our checking account balance stands at $ Old Business: By-Laws Change Ballots- The deadline for turning in By-Laws Changes Ballots is today and practically all ballots mailed out were returned. The envelopes were opened and the ballots counted and the motion to change and update our By-Laws, last changed in 1988, passed by a wide margin. New Business: Albuquerque Museum Car Show Committee Report- Jim and Joyce Clements, and Louie Paul report that our Albuquerque Museum Car Show plans are moving along. The classes have been formed, dash plaques and trophies ordered, and information forms prepared. A meeting to stuff envelopes of car show information to be mailed out has been scheduled for April 6, 2011 at the Old Car Garage. Volunteers are needed for this task and a pizza dinner will be offered to all who show up. Other Business: Senate Bill 412-This bill which would have covered registering and titling of custom and street rod vehicles never made it out of committee during the last legislative session. The car council was holding back its support of this bill because it was felt this bill was too vague in what it covered and how it would affect the car collector hobby. Joyce Clements made a suggestion that we get input from car clubs, the MVD, police agencies, and

2 etc. to write a bill that would answer a number of questions about what types of vehicles it would cover as well as how it would be implemented. A much better bill that could be presented in a future legislative session that might have a better chance to be voted upon and make it out of committee. On a side note Joe Abbin has volunteered to help write a bill that would cover V.I.N. numbers. All Clubs Picnic-Louie Paul reports that he has talked to Joe Vigil of Nambe Falls about problems that we had last year with their picnic area and that Joe said that they would do their best to rectify these problems because they want us to come back and use their picnic area again this year. Spring Thaw Don't forget to come out for Bob Agnew's Worldwide Automotive "Spring Thaw" Open House on April 16, Come out to have your collector car inspected, eat a nice lunch, visit with old friends, and make a donation to a worthy cause. At this point the meeting was brought to a close. Paul G. McLaughlin Secretary Pictures Needed for Web Site If you have any electronic pictures of Council Events, please contact David at info@nmcarcouncil.net to get them posted on the web site.
