MINUTES OF NMCCC MEETING OF MAY 11, 2016 The early May 11th special meeting of the NMCC got underway at 7pm. Present at the meeting were: Jeff & Lauri Rector-NM 4-Wheelers; Joe Ballengee-Alb Model Car Club; Michael & Georgia Knazovich, Joyce & Will Clements, Wayne Mikosz, Dan Stone-Old Car Club; Ann Merewether-Jaguar Club; David Merewether-Tin Lizzies CC; Christee Street-VMCCA, CCCA, SDC; Bill Griffith, Gabe Trujillo-Drifters; John Doran-RG Mustangs; Michelle Garcia-LOE GTO's; Perry Key-NM Auto Artists; Mark Terkeltaub-NM Pontiac Club; Robert Gold-Corvair Club; Jim Clements-Tumbleweed V8 Fords; Jamie Saavedra-V8 Vixens; Bob Agnew- Classic CC; Sue & Andy Yoakum- Cougar Club; John Forsman-Guest. This meeting in particular was assigned to "goody bag" stuffing for our May 15th car show. We stuffed the bags and decided that we will partake of pizza at a different meeting and/or swap meet stuffing. President Lauri Rector called the business meeting to order at 7:55pm and was assured that everyone present got their newsletter. It was moved and approved to accept the published minutes from the April meeting. An unexpected guest, from years ago was present to help stuff goodie bags. Current members welcomed the return of John Forsman, representative of the Z Car Club and President of NMCCC in John has returned to the city after a long absence. Joe Ballengee gave the treasurer s report. Following modest deposits, he wrote checks, primarily for car show related expenses. NMCCC remains solvent. Robert Gold reported nearly 1400 hits this month on the new website format, which includes a link to Facebook, courtesy of Robert's son. Jamie reported that the Facebook site continues to enjoy significant popularity. President Lauri Rector gave sincere thanks to all members who attended the meeting, and helped to prepare goodie bags for the Museum Car Show. Old Business The Drifters Car Club and the Challengers Car Club will share host duties for the upcoming All Clubs Picnic this year. The Picnic will be at Oak Flats again. Collector Car appreciation Day will be celebrated locally July 9 th at Mild to Wild at their new location. M2W facilities are at 324 Industrial Avenue in Albuquerque, off Edith near Candelaria. Joyce reported on the Museum Car Show. The theme is Route , encompassing the year it opened and the year it was decommissioned. The event is Sunday, and volunteers are still needed. Joyce noted that Car Stories from Route 66 will continue to be welcome. There may be extra dash plaques, stuff from the goodie bags and other leftover souvenirs available if members want to request them. Obviously by the time you get this newsletter the show will have gone off with its Route 66 theme. From what I can tell The Council has a good show cooked up and the museum went well with its new Route 66 display. This display is an in depth look at what this route meant to the US, New Mexico, and Albuquerque in particular. Better get a good look, as the route will be changing to a series of rapid transit bus stops in the near future. Will we call it the Mother Track? A separate article with highlights will be in your next newsletter. Joyce reported on the Swap Meet. Phone calls and personal requests at Council events and Council member events indicate that the Swap Meet continues to be popular. The phone calls to Bill and Joyce are already starting. The June

2 meeting will be another pizza night and envelope stuffing with Swap Meet flyers; we will start taking reservations and monies in July. So hold tight, and remember when you get your flyer, RESERVE EARLY!!!! We sold out the south field in about two weeks, and were completely booked by week 4. Joyce noted that the host facility parking lot (usually a source of mud and dust) has been paved this year. President Lauri Rector told everyone that she would no longer be able to perform the duties of Council President. She reminded everyone present that election of officers was scheduled for the next meeting anyway. She encouraged all representatives to consider running for office the pay isn t great, the hours aren t bad but the rewards are well worth the effort. Jamie will step in to fill this void as of the June meeting. We thank Lauri for her service, and will see her at future meetings, as she will continue to be the rep for the New Mexico 4wheelers. On a related note, we will be looking to fill the spot of VP, and or a potential board member. Thanks again and we'll be seeing you in June to stuff swap meet envelopes. It was moved and approved to adjourn the meeting around 8:15 pm. JD (on behalf of Bill Lemen, with a little help from friends) * * * * * * * * * * MUSEUM CAR SHOW REPORT The Car Show went well. 266 cars paid, fewer than last year, but still a good showing. Our Route 66 theme was well received, and participants all seemed to have a jolly time. A list of trophy winners is at the end of this newsletter. Thank you to all who helped, and to all who brought their cars. Volunteers that I have on my list are: Waz Abbott, Joe Ballengee, Ruben Barreras, Charlie Brown, Eugene Burditt, Gary Burns, Frank Chavez, Gloria Chavez, Jim Clements, Joyce Clements, Will Clements, Bill Constantine, Frank Corey, Bruce Davis, John Doran, Lyle Ferrell, Michelle Garcia, Art Gold, Robert Gold, Tom Graham, Bill Griffith, Rich Hansell, Ray Hartman, Ron Hartman, Lana Hills, Jerry Jennings, Perry Key, Georgia Knazovich, Michael Knazovich, Bill Lemen, Chuck Logan, Pat Logan, Charlie Lujan, James McCoy, Teri McCoy, Paul McLaughlin, Bob Michels, Wayne Mikosz, David Morrow, Albert Muniz, Jeff Rector, Lauri Rector, Ron Rymarz, Jamie Saavedra, Lyle Schultz, Chuck Spurgeon, Dan Stone, Mark Terkeltaub, Mistee Thomson, Gabe Trujillo, Jim White, John Wiker, and Judy Wrobel. We will have a pizza party, tentatively July 17, for all the volunteers. Definite time and location will go out later. If you know of anyone left off the list, please contact joyce@nmcarcouncil.com, and I will add them. Thank you all very much for your help and assistance. We couldn't do this without you. * * * SPECIAL HONOR * * * Frank Chavez, President of the Duke's Car Club, was nominated and accepted to the National Lowrider Hall of Fame.
