Austin Meadows tripled in the first inning to extend his hitting streak to 13 games. Binghamton took the lead with an RBI double by Jared King and a run-scoring triple by L.J. Mazzilli in the fifth. Xorge Carrillo added a run in the ninth with a single. Lara pitched seven shutout innings. Morris closed out his fourth save. Altoona starter Tyler Eppler picked up his eighth quality start in 11 outings this year with two runs allowed in seven innings. TONIGHT: The Curve play the rubber game of a three-game series against the Binghamton Mets, Double-A affilliate of the New York Mets. This weekend marks the second of five series between the two clubs. The Curve won two of the three games at NYSEG Stadium last month. Entering play tonight, Altoona has won 20-of-27 games. The Curve are in a stretch of playing 14-of-17 games on the road, with this weekend's series being the only time at PNG Field. FOR ALTOONA: Right-hander Frank Duncan makes the second Double-A start of his career and his seventh appearance for the Curve this season. It is his first start back with Altoona after making four starts in Triple-A with Indianapolis. Last time out, Duncan had his toughest outing, allowing three runs ni 4.1 innings. He breezed through his Triple-A debut at Scranton-Wilkes/Barre on May 13, allowing one hit over six scoreless innings. With Indianapolis, Duncan went 1-2 with a 3.38 ERA in his four starts. His last start for the Curve came on May 8 at Richmond, and he allowed one run over 5.1 innings. Out of the bullpen, Duncan went 2-1 with a 1.20 ERA, including working five scoreless innings in an appearance against Erie on April 26. Last year in Bradenton, Duncan made 25 starts and totaled 27 appearances, going 9-10 with a 4.32 ERA. For more on Duncan, see page two. FOR BINGHAMTON: Right-hander Robert Gsellman makes his eleventh start of the season for the B-Mets and his first against the Curve this year. Last time out, he picked up his second win after holding Erie to two runs in six innings on Tuesday at Jerry Uht Park. Throught his first six starts this season, Gsellman went 1-0 with a 1.77 ERA. He made his Double-A debut last year at PNG Field against the Curve and gave up six runs over four innings in a loss. In his three starts against Altoona last season, Gsellman went 0-3 with a 9.00 ERA. In 16 starts for the B-Mets in 2015, the Santa Monica, Calif. native went 7-7 with a 3.51 ERA E.L. Western)...2nd Games Ahead/Behind #WINNING: The Curve have won 21 of their last 27 games, dating back to May 5, when they were and fourth in the E.L. West. The stretch includes an eight-game winning streak from May 10-18, tied for the third-longest in team history. Altoona has won seven of the last eight series, with the lone exception being a four-game series split with Akron at PNG Field. Altoona has moved from fourth to second in the Western Division in that stretch, but has only gained one game in the standings on the division-leading RubberDucks. AUSTIN CITY LIMITS: After hitting just.192 through his first 21 games, outfielder Austin Meadows has compiled a 13-game hitting streak since May 23 to raise his average to.298 The Pirates' second-ranked prospect has eight mutlihit games during the streak, including five straight from 5/27-5/31. He's batting.458 (22/48) during the streak with six triples, four doubles, a home run, nine RBIs, five stolen bases, five walks, 13 runs scored and just five strikeouts. His.467 average is the second-highest in Double-A and the third-best in MiLB since May 23. The 13-game streak is the longest active streak by an active Eastern League player, the longest by a Curve player this season and tied for third-best in the E.L. this season. He's also currently on a 18-game on-base streak since May 15, the longest for a Curve player this year. BOMBS AWAY: Curve outfielder Stetson Allie moved up on the Curve s all-time home run leaders list with his 42nd career homer on Friday night at Bowie, moving ahead of Ray Sadler for third all-time. Josh Bonifay and Adam Hyzdu both share the franchise home run record with 55 homers hit while wearing an Altoona jersey. He added the 43rd home run of his career on Saturday night. WHAT A RELIEF: Reliever Dovydas Neverauskas had his scoreless streak snapped at 18.1 innings after allowing a run on Thursday night at Akron. It is the longest streak posted by any Curve pitcher so far this season. Opponents are hitting.143 against Neverauskas this year, fourth-best in amongst relievers in the E.L., and.127 against Jhondaniel Medina, second-best in the league. Jared Lakind tossed 1.2 scoreless innings on Thursday at Akron and has not allowed a run in his last 17.1 innings while posting 12 consecutive scoreless appearances.
