The Curve scored six runs in the sixth, including a solo homer by Jose Osuna, an RBI single by Stetson Allie and a two-run double by Josh Smith, to take an 8-7 lead. But Reading answered with five runs in the bottom of the inning to put the game away. Austin Meadows homered in the first inning to extend his hitting streak to 20 games. Edwin Espinal also hit a solo home run in the game. Reading hit five homers, including two by Dylan Cozens. Dovydas Neverauskas and Montana DuRapau each pitched a scoreless inning out of the bullpen. TONIGHT: The Curve wrap up the seven-game road trip with the finale of a three-game series against the Reading Fightin, Phils, Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, at FirstEnergy Stadium. The Curve are coming off splitting a four-game set with the Erie SeaWolves at Jerry Uht Park. Reading swept Akron in three games at Canal Park to take over the top record in all of the Eastern League and all of Minor League Baseball. The Fightins have won six straight games overall entering play tonight. FOR ALTOONA: Lefty Cody Dickson makes his twelfth start of the year for the Curve and first against Reading. Last time out, Dickson held Erie to one earned run in seven innings in a win on Tuesday night at Jerry Uht Park. In his last six starts dating back to May 7, Dickson is 5-0 with a 1.34 ERA (5 ER/33.2 IP) and has not allowed more than one earned run in a start. It's the lowest ERA for any Pirates MiLB starter during that time frame. He has been credited with a win in each of his last three starts. Last year, Dickson went 12-7 with a 4.13 ERA in 27 starts for the A-Adv. Bradenton Marauders, leading the team in wins for the season. The Arlington, Texas native was selected in the fourth round in the 2013 MLB Draft by the Pirates out of Sam Houston State, where he was teammates for one season with fellow Altoona starter Tyler Eppler. For more on Dickson, see page two. FOR READING: Right-hander Nick Pivetta makes his 13th start of the season for the Fightin Phils. Last time out, he picked up his second straight win after holding Akron to one earned run in five innings on Tuesday. Pivetta was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies from the Washington Nationals in exchange for Jonathan Papelbon and cash on July 28, He played with Harrisburg last year, posting an 0-2 record with a 7.20 ERA in three games. He joined Reading in July and went 2-2 with a 7.31 ERA in seven starts. He made one start with Reading against Altoona on August 24 at PNG Field and picked up a win after allowed four runs (three earned) over seven innings. Pivetta was selected in the fourth round of the 2013 MLB Draft by the Nationals out of New Mexico Junior College. UP & DOWN: The Curve went 20-6 from May 5-June 2 and moved from fourth to second in the E.L. West, including an eight-game winning streak from May 10-18, tied for the third-longest in team history. The Curve have won seven of their last ten series, with the lone exceptions being a four-game series split with Akron at PNG Field, dropping twoof-three to Binghamton in last weekend's set and a four-game split in Erie this week. AUSTIN CITY LIMITS: After hitting just.192 through his first 21 games, outfielder Austin Meadows has compiled a 20-game hitting streak since May 23 to raise his average to.311, third in the league. The Pirates' second-ranked prospect has 11 multi-hit games during the streak, including five straight from 5/27-5/31. He's batting.423 (33/78) during the streak with six triples, eight doubles, his first five Double-A home runs, 14 RBIs, five stolen bases, six walks, 20 runs scored and just nine strikeouts. The 20-game streak is the longest by an Eastern League hitter this year and the second-longest in Curve franchise history. Meadows is only one game shy of the all-time franchise record streak of 21 games set by Kevin Sefcik in It's also the second-longest active streak in baseball, MLB and MiLB, behind Cleveland prospect Tyler Krieger, who has a 21-game streak for Single-A Lake County. Meadows is also currently on a 25-game on-base streak since May 15, the longest for a Curve player this year and third-longest in the league.
