Anderson Feliz gave the Curve a 1-0 lead in the second, but Reading jumped in front with two runs in the top of the third. Edwin Espinal hit a game-tying single in the sixth, and Feliz followed with a tie-breaking two-run homer. Cody Dickson earned his tenth win of the year after allowing two runs in six innings with seven strikeouts. Montana DuRapau closed out his 21st save of the season. TONIGHT: The Curve look to pick up a three-game sweep over the Eastern Division-leading Reading Fightin Phils, Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. The Curve have won three straight games entering play tonight, while Reading has dropped three straight. This is the first and only series between the two teams at PNG Field this year E.L. WESTERN STANDINGS Team W-L PCT GB Today POR Harrisburg v. ERI Akron TRN Bowie HFD Richmond REA Erie HAR FOR ALTOONA: Right-hander Tyler Eppler makes his 23Rd start of the season for the Curve. Last time out, Eppler surrednered five runs on 11 hits in six innings against Harrisburg in his fourth loss over his last six starts. Despite recent struggles, Eppler leads the rotation in innings pitched (133.2), WHIP (1.27) and trails Clay Holmes by one strikeout for the team lead (91). He holds the second-lowest BB/9 IP (1.75) among Eastern League starting pitchers. He has turned in 14 quality starts this season, including seven in his first eight starts. The Texas native is in his third professional season following his All-Conference career at Sam Houston State, where he was teammates with Curve pitcher Cody Dickson, and briefly appeared with the Curve at the end of last season. For more on Eppler, see page two. Right-hander John Kuchno gets the start for game two, and makes his second start of the season with the Curve. His last start game in game two on HFD, and he allowed just one run on four hits in 4.2 innings, but the Yard Goats walked off the Curve as Kuchno did not decide in the game. In his last three relief outings, Kuchno is 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA (2 ER / 6 IP) with three hits allowed, two walks and four strikeouts. The Maryland native has split time with and Triple-A Indianapolis, where he went 1-3 with a 5.47 ERA in 26 appearances. For more on Kuchno, see page three. FOR PORTLAND: Right-hander Teddy Stankiewicz gets the game one start for Portland, making his 22nd start this year for the Sea Dogs. In his last start, Stankiewicz recorded a no-decision, allowing five runs on six hits in 4.1 innings of work. The Texas right-hander faced the Curve in the only game the two teams played in, taking the loss after allowing two runs on five hits in six innings of work. Mike McCarthy makes the game two start, his fourth start of the season for Portland and his ninth appearance for the Sea Dogs. McCarthy started his last time out with Portland on 7/26 against Trenton, allowing no runs on four hits in four innings of work. The Walnut Creek, Calif. native has also appeared in a game for Triple-A Pawtucket, allowing six earned runs (seven total) on nine hits in 3.1 innings on May 19 at Buffalo. PLAYOFF HUNT: The Curve are 13 games over.500., Harrisburg and Akron are leading the chase for the two postseason spots from the Western Division. The Curve's "Magic Number" to clinch a playoff spot is currently 17. On May 28, Akron was with a 7.5-game lead over the Curve. Since that date, they have gone 24-47, including 5-15 over their last 20 games. The Curve took over first place in the division for the first time on June 26, and have held that spot in the standings for 38 of 45 games since. Last year, the Curve won the Western Division Wild Card and went to the playoffs for the first time since their E.L. title run in They have not appeared in consecutive postseasons since the first four playoff trips in franchise history in four straight years from STEWART RETURNS: Catcher Chris Stewart began a Major League rehab appearance on Friday night with the Curve, going 1-for-2 with an RBI and a walk. He was placed on the 15-day DL by the Pirates on July 2 with left knee discomfort. Stewart also did rehab work with the Curve last season on April 9-10, 2015, and was the Opening Day catcher for the Curve last year. He is the third Pirates player to do rehab work with the Curve. RHP Ryan Vogelsong made two starts for in July, and catcher Elias Diaz made one appearance in the same month for. HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE: The Curve are at PNG Field this year, the best home record in the E.L. Western Division and have won 13 of their last 15 home games. won 10 consecutive home games from July 22-August 9, setting a new franchise record.
