1 FISH BITES The Marlins will try to salvage the final game of this three-game set in the finale of their season series against the Phillies today at 1:35 p.m. Right-hander Andrew Cashner (5-11, 5.22) draws the start for Miami. He is 3-1 with a 2.11 ERA in 11 career appearances (five starts) against Philadelphia, including a 1-0 record and 2.61 ERA in two starts this season. The Phillies will counter with right-hander Alec Asher, who is 0-2, 4.00 in two career starts against the Fish, both last season. Following today's game, the Marlins return to Miami for their final homestand of the season, a 10-game stretch against the Nationals (tomorrow-sept. 21), Braves (Sept ), and Mets (Sept ). That is followed by a brief three-game stop in Washington D.C.(Sept. 30-Oct. 2) to wrap up the regular season schedule. LAST NIGHT AT PHILADELPHIA Miami fell behind 5-0 in the first inning and the Phillies never looked back in an 8-0 victory. It was the second-largest shutout loss for the Marlins in series history; the worst was a 14-0 loss here in Philadelphia on September 16, The Fish managed just three hits against Philly starter Jeremy Hellickson, who tossed a complete game. Dee Gordon led off the game with a single, but Miami mustered little after that. Martín Prado and Derek Dietrich (2b) had the other hits. EIGHT IS ENOUGH The Marlins have dropped the first two games of this series, clinching a season-series victory for the Phillies, who are now 10-8 against Miami heading into today's 2016 finale. Miami has not won a season series against Philadelphia since 2008, when the Club went Miami's eight-season losing streak against the Phillies is tied for the longest seasonseries losing streak between division opponents in the Majors; Chicago went 7-12 against Detroit this season, marking its eighth-straight losing season against the Tigers. - STATS LLC UP NEXT The Marlins head home today and will open a three-game series against the Nationals tomorrow in Miami, the beginning of a 10-game homestand that wraps up the 2016 home slate. The Marlins are 6-7 against Washington this season, including a win in three of the last five meetings. They are 3-4 at home against the Nats, and 3-3 in the District. Miami leads the all-time series against the Expos/Nationals, , including a advantage in South Florida (22-22 at Marlins Park). SWEEP INFO The Marlins today are looking to avoid the 17 th three-game sweep by Philadelphia in series history, the first since July 17-19, 2015 here at Citizens Bank Park. RUNNING LIKE HE STOLE SOMETHING Dee Gordon has recorded at least one stolen base in three straight games. It marks the sixth streak of three games in his career, the first since May 1-4 of last season. His longest career streak of stolen bases is four games, which he has done three times, most recently from August of last season. Gordon has six steals during his current streak, more than he recorded in any of his streaks that ended at three games. The six steals over a three-game span is tied for the most in his career; he had six steals over the final three games of a four-game streak from April 9-15, RARE CATCH J.T. Realmuto, who was 0x2 last night, has 262 hits, 51 doubles, and 20 home runs in his first two full seasons as a catcher (excluding stats from his 11 games in 2014). According to STATS LLC, he is just the fifth catcher in MLB history to reach those plateaus in his first two full seasons as a catcher, joining Johnny Bench from (311 hits-63 doubles-41 homers), Benito Santiago from ( ), Kenji Johjima from ( ), and Russell Martin from ( ). DEEP INTO THE NIGHT...AND BENCH The Marlins and Phillies locked horns Friday night in a 13-inning contest that lasted four hours, 43 minutes. It was Miami's second-longest game of the season in both innings and time, behind a 14-inning, five-hour, 34-minute affair against the Giants on August 8 at Marlins Park. The Marlins used 24 players Friday night, which fell one short of tying the Club record of 25, which was set in a 13-inning game vs. the Dodgers on September 8, GO-AHEAD OF ME Christian Yelich notched his 34 th go-ahead RBI of the season Tuesday night in Atlanta, which leads the Majors. According to STATS LLC, Yelich has the second-most go-ahead RBI in a season in Club history, behind Preston Wilson's mark of 35 in His 33 rd go-ahead RBI on Sunday vs. the Dodgers would also prove to be his 13 th game-winning RBI of the Overall record on this date: 8-14 season, tied with several players for 16 th in the Majors, behind leader Nolan Arenado (20). The Club record for that stat, again according to STATS LLC, is 21 by Gary Sheffield in 1996; Yelich is currently tied with Giancarlo Stanton (2014), Kevin Millar (2001), and Cliff Floyd (2001) for 15 th. ABOVE AVERAGE The Marlins currently have three qualifying players hitting.300-or-higher: Martín Prado (.312), J.T. Realmuto (.312), and Christian Yelich (.300). Yelich ranks seventh in the NL, Realmuto eighth, and Yelich 12 th. The Marlins are currently the only team in the National League with three qualifying players batting over.300. The last time the Marlins had three regulars finish over.300 was in 2005: Miguel Cabrera (.323), Carlos Delgado (.301) and Luis Castillo (.301). ANOTHER MILESTONE REACHED Ichiro Suzuki recorded the 900 th multi-hit game of his career Tuesday night. Among players in the modern era (since 1900), his 900 multi-hit games rank 15 th all-time. Among players who debuted in the last 40 years (since 1977), only Derek Jeter (1,014), Paul Molitor (967), Tony Gwynn (951), and Eddie Murray (934) recorded more multi-hit games. - Elias MOVIN' ON UP MIAMI MARLINS (73-75) RHP Andrew Cashner (5-11, 5.22) at PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES (67-82) RHP Alec Asher (1-0, 1.46) CITIZENS BANK PARK, PHILADELPHIA, PA Sunday, September 18, :35 P.M.
