This will be the LumberKings first games to be played in Kane County this after the first two games of the season were postponed due to weather and made up in Clinton. The LumberKings have played the Cougars well this season and are 9-3 against Kane County this year. Clinton has won all three of their series with Kane County this year and have swept two doubleheaders from them. The LumberKings trail the all-time series, dating back to 1991, 169 to 178. Since Clinton has been affiliated with the Seattle Mariners (2009) they trail in the head-to-head matchups 69 games to 76 games. LumberKings Starter: Randy Bell, 23, makes his 15 th start and appearance of the season for the Clinton LumberKings. The Louisana native made his season debut with the LumberKings his last time out, facing the Burlington Bees. He was given a no decision for the start as he failed to qualify for the win with a four-inning outing in which he allowed one run on just two hits while walking three and striking out seven. Bell spent the entire first half of the 2018 season in Modesto with the High-A Nuts going 3-4 with a 4.95 ERA over 13 appearances and starts he logged 67.1 innings while walking 14 and striking out 49 and allowed an opponent batting average of.286. The Seattle Mariners took Bells in 10 th round of the 2017 MLB Draft out of South Alabama University. In high school, lettered in football, baseball, and track, while helping the baseball team to capture two state championships. While in college the winning ways continued as he helped the Eagles to a NJCAA Division II College World Series in Enid, Oklahoma. Cougars Starter: Mack Lemieux, 21, makes his 16 th appearance and start of the season for the Kane County Cougars. The Florida native, took the loss his last time out for a six-inning outing in which he allowed two runs on five hits while walking three and striking out four in a start that came against the Peoria Chiefs at Dozer Park. This is the third time this year that Lemieux has faced the LumberKings. The lefty is 0-2 versus Clinton this season with a 5.40 ERA working 15 innings and allowing nine runs. He has allowed home runs to Jack Larsen, Ariel Sandoval, and Eugene Helder this year. The Diamondbacks selected Lemieux in the 6th round of the 2016 MLB draft out of Palm Beach Community College, signing him for $278,500. Prior to the start of the season he was listed by MLB Pipeline as a Diamondbacks breakout prospect candidate. Prior to being selected by Arizona, he was taken by the Washington Nationals in the 14th round out of Jupiter High School but did not sign. Last Time Out: Johnny Adams homered for the fourth time in five games and the Clinton LumberKings coasted to an 8-1 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Saturday night at Neuroscience Group Field. Onil Pena and Eugene Helder each added home runs for the LumberKings (7-3, 46-34) in a three-homer night. The power surge by Clinton hitters was more than enough run support for LumberKings starter Oliver Jaskie. The lefty worked five plus innings and allowed just one run. Jaskie (4-7) allowed a third inning solo home run to Zach Clark and no more. The win was Jaskie's second of the season against the Timber Rattlers (3-7, 34-45). Clinton scored their runs in pairs, scoring two runs in the second, fourth, sixth, and seventh innings. The game's first runs were driven in by Keegan Mcovern, RBI single, and Zach Scott, RBI ground out, which put the LumberKings on top for good. In the top of the fourth inning, Adams slugged his fourth home run over his last five games off Timber Rattlers starter Bowden Francis. The home run was Adams eighth of the season and was followed three batters later by an RBI double by Juan Camacho. Eugene Helder drove home the last two runs of the night on a two-run homer to left center field for his fifth big fly of the year. Adonis De La Cruz and Kyle Wilcox each worked two innings of relief for Clinton allowing just one Timber Rattler to reach over the final four innings to preserve the Clinton win.four. Dinger Central: The Clinton LumberKings added another three home runs to their team tally in their 8-1 win on Saturday night. They now have 63 home runs as a team, the third most in the Midwest League. The second half for Clinton has been dominated by home runs. In the 10 games played in this half the LumberKings have slugged 12 home runs. The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers have been on the receiving end of a lot of the LumberKings power this season. Over the their 11 meetings this season Clinton has hit 14 home runs against Timber Rattler pitching. Adams the Slugger: The second home run of the Saturday night belong to Johnny Adams, a solo home run that put Clinton on top 3-1. Adams has now homered in four of his last five games including homering in three straight games. The stretch is the most home runs hit by any LumberKings over a five-game stretch. The LumberKings everyday shortstop now has eight home runs this season. Power in New Forms: The home runs by the LumberKings to open the second half has come with a dramatic increase in extra base hits in general. Clinton opened the second half with the second fewest triples in the Midwest League and have now passed the Peoria Chiefs with three triples in their last two games. Friday night was the first time this season that Clinton had tripled twice in the same game. Clinton has 15 extra base hits in their current series with Wisconsin, having tallied 33 hits overall. Will We Play?: The Clinton LumberKings return to the place where the 2018 season was supposed to start, Kane County. Due to snow and cold weather the LumberKings traveled to Geneva, Illinois for a two-game series and never played the games. Instead a pair of doubleheader made up for the games in Clinton. If the LumberKings and Cougars play tonight, fingers crossed, it will be the LumberKings first game of the season in Kane County. This date in baseball history: On this date in 2000, at Shea Stadium, Mets' fan Gregory Sweeney is arrested and charged with reckless endangerment after he throws a ball which Braves reliever John Rocker had tossed into the stands back onto the field. A few day later, the 26 year-old Brooklyn man will be exonerated as Queens District Attorney Richard Brown concludes Mr. Sweeney had no criminal intent and was doing nothing more than following a baseball tradition of returning an unsolicited and unwanted souvenir. Broadcast Information: Erik Oas returns for his second season as the voice of LumberKings baseball. All games will be broadcast live on FM WCCI and online at LumberKings.com via the TuneIn Radio App. Series Information All-Time Series (1991): Kane County leads, Since 2009 (SEA): Kane County leads, : Clinton leads, 6-2 (of 19) In Clinton: Clinton leads, 6-2 In Kane County: Series tied, 0-0 One-Run Games: Series Tied, 1-1 Extra-Innings: Series tied, Meetings: Date Location Result/Time 4/5 at Kane County *PPD* 4/6 at Kane County *PPD* 4/7 CLINTON W, 7-2 4/8 CLINTON L, 1-0 (7) 4/8 CLINTON W,8-0 (7) 6/8 CLINTON W, 6-2 6/9 CLINTON W, 3-1 6/10 CLINTON W,9-1 (7) 6/10 CLINTON W,4-3 (7) 6/11 CLINTON L, 7-3 6/21 CLINTON 6:30 PM 6/22 CLINTON 6:30 PM 6/23 CLINTON 6:30 PM 6/24 CLINTON 2:00 PM 8/18 at Kane County 6:30 PM 8/19 at Kane County 1:00 PM 8/20 at Kane County 6:30 PM MWL 2nd Half Standings MWL Western Division W-L GB Cedar Rapids Clinton %Peoria Beloit *Quad Cities Kane County Wisconsin Burlington MWL Eastern Division W-L GB %Lansing *Bowling Green Fort Wayne South Bend Dayton West Michigan Lake County Great Lakes *First Half Division Champion %First Half Wild Card Wild Card Upcoming Probable Pitchers: Clinton/Opponents.
