The LumberKings trail the all-time series , dating back to 1962, against Burlington and, 69-75, since the LumberKings became a Seattle Mariners affiliate in The LumberKings dropped two of three games in a three -game series at Community Field April LumberKings Starter: Brandon Miller, 21, makes his eighth start of the season for Clinton. Miller is coming off a strong start against the Great Lakes Loons. The righty earned the win in 5.1 innings, allowing two runs on four hits, while walking one and setting a professional career high for strikeouts with eight. Miller has won both of his starts during the month of May and will be making his second start against the Burlington Bees this season. Last time out against the Bees he shutout Burlington over his six inning outing, his longest of the season, the only shutout win for the LumberKings thus far this season. Bees Starter: Sam Pastrone, 19, makes his eighth appearance and start of the season for the Bees. This will be his second start against the LumberKings this season. The righty took the loss when he matched up with Brandon Miller in Burlington on April 13. In the start Pastrone lasted just two innings, giving up seven runs, five earned, on six hits, while walking two and striking out two in his shortest start of the year. The young righty is in his third season of professional baseball after being drafted out of high school in Las Vegas in 2015 and signed instead of going to UNLV. The Angels took him in the 17th round and since then Pastrone has made stops with the AZL Angels and at Advanced Rookie ball in the Pioneer League with the Orem Owlz. In his full-season A debut he took the loss against the Peoria Chiefs going 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA in 4 innings of work while allowing seven hits, walking two and striking out four. The scouting report on Pastrone is a hard throwing righty with a 97 mph fastball but ranging between that has late cut on it. He throws curveball and changeup off of the fastball. When Pastrone does miss, he over throws and can lead to some wildness. Last Time Out: Danny Garcia was hit hard in an 8-5 Clinton LumberKings loss to the Burlington Bees on Thursday night at Ashford University Field. Garcia (2-4) lasted just 3.2 innings and gave up five runs in the top of first inning to take his fourth loss of the year. After falling behind early the LumberKings made things more interesting by chipping away late in the game eventually pulling within three runs. The Bees (12-24) batted around in the first inning to jump out to a 5-0 lead before Clinton (15-22) got to swing the bats. The Bees collected six hits in the inning four of which went for extra base hits. The Bees registered four triples in the game, all off of Garcia, the most allowed by LumberKings pitching in a game this season. Brennon Lund, who tripled in the first inning, had two three baggers adding another in the top of the fourth. In what would be Garcia's final inning of work, he gave up three straight triples to the Bees with one out in the fourth inning. The outing was his second shortest of the year. All the Extra Base Hits: A five-run first inning by Burlington decided it on Thursday night. The Bees batted around in the inning collecting six hits, four extra base hits. The Bees rattled off four triples in the game, including a stretch where they hit back-to-back-to-back triples in the top of the fourth inning. The three straight triples knocked Danny Garcia out of the game. Brennon Lund had two of the triples the most allowed to a single player by LumberKings itching this season. Liberato Home Run: Luis Liberato s two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning on Thursday night pulled the LumberKings to within three runs and tied him with Gareth Morgan for the team lead for home runs with four. The long fly was Liberato s first of the year at home and was his first home run since his two-run home run against the South Bend Cubs in the eighth inning of the 19 inning marathon game. Quevedo Streaking: Catcher Yojhan Quevedo has had to battle through injuries this season and is now seeing playing time split with another catcher Nick Thurman. Still Quevedo has been steady offensively, hitting safely in his last 10 games (15-for-46) the longest hitting streak on the team this season. During the streak Quevedo also hit his first home run in over two years. Also during his streak, Quevedo tallied two doubles in a 15-3 win over Wisconsin, the most doubles by a LumberKing in a single game this season. Franchise Record: A bright spot in the 8-5 loss to the Burlington Bees on Thursday night was Luis Rengifo. In bit of historical serendipity the speedy LumberKings infielder tied a franchise record for steals in a single game swiping four bags. The last time a Clinton baseball player had stolen four bases in a game was on August 27, 1979 when future big-leaguer Alan Wiggins stole four bases at Ashford University Field against Burlington. It was the third time a Clinton baseball player stole four bases in a single game. This date in baseball history: On this date in 2004, Yankee spokesman Jason Zillo announces Cracker Jack, which has been baseball s most famous snack for over 100 years, will not be sold at Yankee Stadium and will be replaced by a product known as Crunch 'n Munch. The change, short-lived due to the fans' negative reaction, is being made, according to Yankees officials, because Crunch 'n Munch tastes better, but may have been really prompted by Frito-Lay's decision to package the game's well-known treat in only bags and not boxes. Broadcast Information: All games will be broadcast live on FM WCCI and online at LumberKings.com via the TuneIn Radio App with the Erik Oas, in his first season as the Voice of the LumberKings.
