The LumberKings trail the all-time series 9-, dating back to, and trail against Bowling Green, 9-, since the LumberKings became a Seattle Mariners affiliate in 9. During the 6 season, the LumberKings traveled to Bowling Green and lost two out of the three games. The LumberKings have won just one game against the Hot Rods in franchise history at Ashford University Field. LumberKings Starter: Robert Dugger,, makes his appearance and ninth start of the season for the Clinton LumberKings. The Texas native is coming off the first and only LumberKings complete game of the season a rain shortened five inning win against the Dayton Dragons during the first home game of the series. In the start, Dugger allowed all three of his runs, two earned, in the first inning and then settled down allowing seven hits in total while walking two and striking out seven. One of the four LumberKings all-stars this season, Dugger began the season in the bullpen where he was one of the more effective LumberKings relievers. His greatest success has happened as a starter this season which he has been since May 8. He has not lost a start this season and is - with a. ERA with an opponent batting average of.99 as a starter this season. The Seattle Mariners drafted him in the 8 th round of the 6 MLB Draft out of Texas Tech following Dugger transferring from a small junior college close to his home in Texas. Bowling Green Starter: Willy Ortiz,, makes his 9 appearance and start of the season for the Bowling Green Hot Rods. The Dominican native returns to the Hot Rods rotation after his second stint of the season on the temporarily inactive list. His last start with Bowling Green came on July where he took the win with a seven inning outing at home against the Great Lakes Loons he allowed just one run on three hits while walking four and striking out four. Ortiz has thrown the ball deep into the game in his last two starts both seven inning performances where he threw 9 and 96 pitches respectively. He began the season with the Princeton Rays, not making an appearance with them, and was not promoted to Bowling Green until May. Signed at the age of 6, Ortiz spent the first four years of his professional career in the Dominican Summer League before making his State side debut with Gulf Coast League Rays at 9 years old in 5. In 6, he did not loss a game while pitching for the Princetown Rays going 8- with a.5 ERA. Last Time Out: Two home runs from the Bowling Green Hot Rods in the fourth inning were enough to drop the Clinton LumberKings, 5-, on Sunday afternoon at Ashford University Field. For just the fourth time this season the LumberKings (9-5, -5) failed score a run at home and were shutout for the seventh time this year. Nick Wells returned to the LumberKings starting rotation after spending two weeks on the disabled list and threw the ball well in his return. He allowed the game's first run to score in the top of the second inning when Eleardo Cabrera singled home Robbie Tenerowicz with two out in the inning. Wells (-7) was hung with the loss in a. inning outing in which he allowed three runs on six hits while walking two and striking out two. The Hot Rods (5-9, 6-5) broke out for a four-run top of the fifth that effectively put the game out of reach. Wells allowed a one out single to Josh Lowe and then surrendered a two-run homer to Garret Whitley that knocked Wells from the game. Steven Moyers replaced Wells and, after retiring the first batter he faced, allowed a single to Jonah Heim and then two run homer to Mike Brosseau that ended the scoring for both teams. Clinton failed to muster many threats against Hot Rods pitching. Adrian Navas threw seven shutout innings for Bowling Green to earn his seventh win of the season. The bottom of the first inning was the only inning in the game in which the LumberKings strung two hits together in the same frame. Medina Scoreless Streaking: Despite allowing eight runs to the Dayton Dragons on Thursday night, none were allowed by Jeffeson Medina in his. innings of relief work. The right hander added to his scoreless inning streak with the shutout performance and currently owns the team s longest scoreless inning streak,. innings since he last gave up a run. Shutout Loss: For the fourth time this season the Clinton LumberKings failed to score a run at home in the 5- loss to the Hot Rods on Sunday afternoon. The shutout was the seventh time overall on the season for Clinton and they are now -7 in shutout games this season. League Leader: Brandon Miller, the staff ace, became the first pitcher in the Midwest League to go over the innings pitched milestone and currently leads the league in innings with and ranks tied for third in the league in strikeouts with 9. This date in baseball history: On this date in 9, against the Giants, control artist Babe Adams of the Pittsburgh Pirates pitches an entire -inning game without issuing a single walk. The contest, which is the longest game in big league history without a base-on-balls, is decided by Larry Doyle's home run in the top of the frame, giving Rube Marquard, who also goes the distance, the - victory. Broadcast Information: All games will be broadcast live on. FM WCCI and online at LumberKings.com via the TuneIn Radio App with Erik Oas, in his first season as the Voice of the LumberKings.
