It was the first time since last July that Binghamton has beaten Trenton in back-to-back games. Michael Conforto hit his fifth home run as a B-Met in the fifth inning to put the B- Mets on top for good. Robert Gsellman earned the win, allowing two unearned runs in seven innings. Jon Velasquez earned his second save of the series and 13th of the season. BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Rainy Lara is making his return to Binghamton after spending a month with Las Vegas (AAA). It s Lara s third career start against Trenton, going 0-1 with a 8.48 ERA in the first two. Lara struggled in his first stint in Triple-A, but his teams have gone 5-1 in his last six starts. It s his first B-Mets start since June 9th. TRENTON STARTER: LHP Caleb Smith is making his 17th start and second against Binghamton. He has won his last four outings, allowing six total runs in 23 innings. Smith picked up the win in his first start at NYSEG Stadium, tossing 6.1 one-hit innings against Binghamton in a 2-0 Trenton win. LUCKY NUMBER SEVEN: The B-Mets are off to a 10-6 start in July, leading the league in team ERA (1.84) for the month, while ranking second in team batting average (.274) for the month. Altoona leads the way offensively, batting.283 this month. Binghamton has had a sub-3 ERA once in their last 51 months.
