ABOUT THE LAST ONE: The first, second and third hitters (Connor Lien, Keith Curcio, Dustin Peterson) in last night s game each drove in two runs apiece. It was first time that the one, two and three hitters in the lineup each collected at least one RBI since July 31. It also matched the season high for runs driven in by the first third of the lineup this season (July 9 at Salem, 6 RBI). ON TO THE NEXT ONE: The Mudcats continue their final road trip of the season tonight with two of three against the Keys at Nymeo Stadium in Frederick. The Mudcats lead the current series 1-0 having won the opener last night 8-5. Seth Webster gets the game two nod for the Mudcats and enters tonight s start at 8-7 with a 2.75 ERA this season. Reliever Matt Marksberry was the first Mudcats player to make the jump to the Gwinnett Braves. He was promoted to Gwinnett on 8/29 and appeared in 16 games (0-2, 5.63 ERA, 16.0ip, 10bb, 13so) before receiving a big league promotion on 7/31. YEAR-END ALL-STARS: The Carolina League recognized Johan Camargo, Connor Lien and Jacob Schrader as year-end All-Stars on 8/29. Camargo was recognized as the league s top shortstop, Lien was listed as one of four All- Star outfielders and Schrader earned designated hitter of the year honors. Webster allowed a run in the second and one in the sixth and gave up seven hits in the loss. 7/8: Struck out a season high eight batters while allowing just two runs over six and 2/3 innings pitched. 7/25: Kept the Pelicans without a run over seven full innings pitched while throwing 91 pitches with 58 for strikes. He walked one, struck out one and scattered four hits in the victory. 7/30: Finished with just two runs allowed and seven strikeouts over six and 2/3 innings pitched while earning his second straight victory. 8/5: Won his third straight start after allowing just one run over seven innings pitched against Winston- Salem. Scattered five hits, struck out seven and picked up his 10 th quality start of the year. 8/16: Allowed just one unearned run over seven innings pitched while picking up a win in Frederick against the Keys. He struck out eight, did not issue a walk and gave up six hits while lowering his then league best earned run average to 2.52 ERA on the season. Webster was signed by the Braves a non-drafted free agent earlier this year from the Frontier League s Schaumberg Boomers. He made his Atlanta organizational debut with the Rome Braves on 5/18 against Charleston and allowed six earned runs on seven hits over five innings pitched. He walked two and struck out seven in his affiliated ball debut, and suffered the loss in a 6-2 loss to the RiverDogs. BYWATER: Struck out seven over seven scoreless frames while earning his first win on 8/20 vs. Salem at Five County Stadium. FURNEY: Struck out a season high seven batters over seven innings on 5/22 in Wilmington (7.0ip, 8h, 3r, 2er, 2bb, 7so). He finished June with 16 strikeouts and eight walks over 33.2 innings pitched and held opponents to a.248 batting average Blair Walters was named the Mudcats pitcher of the month in July after going 2-2 with a 2.31 ERA over six starts.
